I hate this thing Marie Dalton - Dec 23, 2012 - Report this comment
I put it on there to make life a little easier, instead it is always wanting to add a new one and then I can't see the others.
Re: iGoogle going away Dan Oblak - Nov 15, 2012 - Report this comment
Barry, it looks like the URLs we are storing through this gadget are actually being stored in another of Google's services -- found at https://www.google.com/bookmarks/ . So, I think we can still get to them after iGoogle disappears.
iGoogle going away Barry White - Oct 30, 2012 - Report this comment
With iGoogle going away on November 1st 2012, is there a way to access my bookmarks from somewhere else besides my soon vanishing iGoogle home page?

Problem Solved! Richard Laughton - Jun 7, 2012 - Report this comment
After some playing around with the gadget I was able to find the problem, or arrive at the solution. I am not sure if this was in the original version of this gadget but for sure it is here. There are multiple ways to access your bookmarks in this gadget so to make sure there is no confusion I will just use one approach and follow it through the process to change the way they display. Click on the GEAR TOOK inside the bookmark gadget (not the gear tool on the main google page). At the bottom of the pop-up menu you will see ABOUT THIS GADGET, which you will select. You google bookmark gadget will now open on a separate page, mine does with the gadget on the left side of the screen. You will also now see that under the BOOKMARK label there is a little BOX that says "Show a Label" and in there it might have ALL and HOMEPAGE or anything else you might have added. This is the key to solving the problem as only those that are labelled HOMEPAGE will show on your Google Homepage. I quickly noticed that I had maybe 40 on my homepage but 90 in total. There may be a maximum you can display on the homepage, I have not got to that point as of yet. What you want to do now is to label all the ones you want to show as HOMEPAGE. To do that click the EDIT button in the box above the "Show Label" box. The page now opens with all your bookmarks listed, which also has the words EDIT or REMOVE on the right side of the bookmark and underneath it might say [homepage] or some other label. To make things simple also click the SORT BY TITLE on the right side of the page so you have an alphabetic list to start the process. If you see one of your bookmarks (as they are ALL in this list) that has disappeared from your homepage it will be because it does not have the [homepage] label under the name of the bookmark. To change this click on EDIT beside the bookmark and a new pop-up appears underneath your bookmark. Now enter the word "homepage" in the label and then make sure you press SAVE. That specific bookmark will now appear on your homepage. If you have a lot of bookmarks in different categories, you can create your own series of labels. For example, you might have your primary bookmarks you always want to show on your HOMEPAGE and then another group that is only for WORK and others for HOBBIES, or even be specific and label all your bookmarks for HORSES as such. Now at any time you open the BOOKMARK GADGET master (just click the worked BOOKMARKS), you will see your list of categories, such as: All (90) Homepage (40) Work (10) Hobbies (25) Horses (15) You can click on any of those lists to open up just those specific bookmarks. I have not yet found a way to put your list of bookmarks on the main google gadget page but I am going to look into that further. If you have used this "fix" and it is now working (or not working) please respond here so I can check it out. Richard (I have nothing to do with this gadget development, just trying to fix the problem as I use it a lot as well)
They are still there! Richard Laughton - Jun 3, 2012 - Report this comment
I am in agreement ... and this has always been my favourite Google Tool and the only reason I use the Google Page! So it needs to be fixed, and fast! But DO NOT WORRY your bookmarks have not disappeared - they are ALL STILL THERE! In the UPPER RIGHT corner of the bookmark page (or how it appears on your computer) click on the little "TOOLS GEAR" and then click on the bottom of the list "ABOUT THIS GADGET". That will open a new page and if it is like mine I saw there were three (3) pages of Google Bookmarks, many I thought I had lost a long time ago. I have to assume it has some form of "PRUNING" software that shortens the list to fit the page. At least now I know where all of them are located. Now to find one that does not let them disappear!
