Getting Started

Sign in to AdWords

Install Conversion Tracking

  1. Visit https://adwords.google.com/select/ConversionTrackingHome. You can also reach this page by clicking Conversion Tracking at the top of your account's Campaign Management tab.
  2. Click Create Your First Actions.
  3. Follow the steps provided. We will guide you through the process of receiving your code, placing on your website and completing the set-up.

Enable Conversion Optimizer

Click on the name of the campaign for which you’d like to enable the Conversion Optimizer (Remember, a campaign must have received at least 15 conversions in the past 30 days).

Next, click on the Settings tab.

Bidding and budget

Scroll down to the Bidding and budget section, and click Edit next to Bidding Option.

Focus on Conversions

Select the radio button next to Focus on Conversions (Conversion Optimizer). (Note that if your campaign has not received at least 15 conversions in the past 30 days, this radio button will be gray and you’ll be unable to select it.) At this point, you’ll have the option of starting with the recommended Max CPA bid or creating a custom Max CPA bid.

If you'd like to bid using a Target CPA instead of a Max CPA, you can access this option by clicking Advanced Options. We recommend choosing between Max CPA and Target CPA based on the metric that's most familiar to you.

Advanced Options

Click Save. The Conversion Optimizer is now enabled for your campaign. Note that the Max CPC column for this campaign will now be replaced by either Max CPA or Target CPA depending on the bidding option that you’ve chosen.

  1. Confirmation that Conversion Optimizer is enabled appears on Ad Group page
  2. Max CPC column replaced by Max CPA
  3. Edit your CPA bid at any time by clicking "Edit Bids"
