Getting Started with AdWords Editor

This guide will walk you through your first steps with AdWords Editor. The setup is quick, easy, and free. If you have questions, refer to the additional resources listed at the end of this guide.

1. Download AdWords Editor

Visit http://www.google.com/intl/en/adwordseditor/ and click Download AdWords Editor. You'll need Windows XP (Home/Pro), Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Mac OS X (10.4 or later, Intel or PowerPC).

2. Open your AdWords account

Next, download your AdWords account:

  1. The Open Account window appears automatically when you run AdWords Editor for the first time. In the future, you can add accounts from the File menu > Open Account.
  2. Click Add Account.
  3. Enter your existing AdWords customer email address and password, then click OK.

After AdWords Editor downloads your campaigns, the account email address will appear in the tree view on the side of your screen.

3. Start editing

Now that you've downloaded your account, start exploring AdWords Editor and editing your campaigns. For example, view and edit your keywords by following these steps:

  1. In the tree view, select the campaign you wish to edit.
  2. Select the Keywords tab. Notice that the information in the data view changes when you select a different tab.
  3. Select a row in the data view. Notice that the keyword appears in the edit panel below the data view.
  4. Edit your keyword, match type, maximum CPC bid, or destination URL.

Your edited keyword will appear in the data view with Δ beside it.
