Benefits and Perks

Google’s array of benefits of perks aim to ensure that Googlers remain happy and healthy in all aspects of their lives. Our programs are designed to help optimize Googlers’ physical, emotional, financial and social health, while serving to reduce stress and provide cool opportunities to have fun. In short, we hire great people and work hard to treat them well.

On-site Perks: Innovation and Productivity

Physical Fitness

We believe that physical fitness is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle and a productive workforce. To help Googlers stay fit we offer state-of-the-art on-site fitness centers in many offices. We also provide free fitness assessments and highly discounted on-site personal training. Googlers can also attend free fitness classes ranging from yoga and kickboxing to dance technique and hip hop. We offer a variety of beginner sports clinics to help transition employees into our numerous on-site sports leagues. For Googlers in offices without on-site gyms, we subsidize the cost of a monthly gym membership as well as community recreation league participation.

Healthy Eats

Imagine having a chef cook for you every single day. Googlers enjoy an amazing variety of free meals at our on-site cafes, designed to help foster collaboration. Our chefs focus on sourcing organic and sustainable ingredients to create healthy and delicious dishes. Our Food team ensures that healthy options are available at each meal, and color codes each dish so Googlers can make informed choices about diet and long-term health. We offer a number of programs to help Googlers eat and cook well outside of the office, such as cooking classes, community gardens and cooking demonstrations from local chefs. Fostering fun along with nutrition, the Google Food program throws over five major events (e.g., barbeques, theme days, etc.) per quarter in Mountain View alone.

Rejuvenating at Google

To make sure that hardworking Googlers don’t become stressed or burned out, Google offers ample opportunity for personal rejuvenation. We provide subsidized massage services at all locations, including chair, table and prenatal massages for our expectant moms. In between appointments with a massage therapist, Googlers can relax in the massage chairs located in every building. To help Googler’s get the proper amount of sleep, a few buildings on our Mountain View campus have nap pods with secluded, relaxing places for rest. For our outdoor enthusiasts, on-site hammocks are also set up in many buildings.

Concierge and On-site Services

We provide a multitude of convenient on-site services in many offices - particularly in our Mountain View headquarters - to reduce the errands Googlers have to run after work or on weekends. For example, Googlers Corporate Concierge team can assist with everyday tasks such as planning a dinner party as well as more unusual requests, like finding a jewel-encrusted scepter to accompany a Googler’s special Halloween outfit. Our multiple on-site services save Googlers precious time that they can instead spend with family and friends or enjoying other hobbies. They include:

Vacation Time

While our workplace offers many perks, we know that it’s important for our Googlers to get away and recharge, which is why Google vacation policy grants ample off during their first year, and the amount increases the longer they work at Google. We encourage Googlers to take vacations by placing a cap of 30 days on accrued vacation time. Googlers can also borrow 5 days of paid vacation from their first day as a Googler.

Time Off: Make a Difference

In addition to vacations, our leave policies offer Googlers more opportunities to explore life outside of the workplace. Googlers can take up to one three-month leave of unpaid time off, under specific circumstances. Health care benefits continue for unpaid leaves of up to three months. Googlers can use their time off to work with non-profit organizations, political campaigns and other community-oriented projects of their choosing. While it's fun to take time off for yourself, we also encourage Googlers to take time away from work to impact the world around them. For instance, to ensure that Googlers can participate in elections, we declare national election days in the U.S. as a “no meeting day.” We also give Googlers paid time off every year to participate in community service projects through an employee-led outreach campaign known as GoogleServe.
