MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - July 25, 2005 - Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) today announced that registration is now open for Google Code Jam 2005, Google's annual online coding competition consisting of a series of problem-solving challenges that invite participants to select a programming language and use their programming skills to code solutions to the problems. Programmers interested in competing can register at http://www.topcoder.com/googlecodejam.

Qualification rounds begin August 22, and the 100 finalists will be invited to compete in the Championship Round to be held at Google headquarters in Mountain View, Calif., on September 23, 2005. Finalists will divide $155,000 in prize money:
- Grand Prize winner: $10,000
- 2nd-10th place winners: $5,000 each
- 11th-25th place winners: $2,500 each
- 26th-50th place winners: $1,000 each
- 51st-100th place winners: $750 each
