Linux Software Repositories

This page will guide you through setting up a Mandriva Linux 2007 Spring system to use the Google Linux software repository. For general information, please see the Google's Linux Software Repositories page.

Package Manager Configuration

Open the "Install, Remove & Update Software" item from the main system menu.

Open the "Media Manager" from the "Options" menu.

Click the "Add Custom..." button.

Type "Google" in the "Name:" field and "http://dl.google.com/linux/rpm/stable/i386/" in the "URL:" field. Also check the "Search this media for updates" option, then click the "OK" button.

If you are running a 64-bit distribution, you should also add the x86_64 repository, which will provide you with native 64-bit versions of some of our software. Repeat these steps, but when you get back to this screen, use the following settings:

Type "Google64" in the "Name:" field and "http://dl.google.com/linux/rpm/stable/x86_64/" in the "URL:" field.

Key Installation and Usage

When you added the repository, the public key should have been automatically downloaded and installed. You can verify this by clicking the "Manage keys..." button in the "Configure media" window.

Then select "Google" in the "Medium" list, and check that it has the "Google, Inc. Linux Package Signing Key" listed.

Alternate Command Line Configuration

If you have any problems with these instructions, you can also try the "Command Line Configuration" instructions for urpmi.
