MacBook Pro is machined from a single piece of aluminum, an engineering breakthrough that replaced many parts with just one. It's called the unibody. And the first time you pick up a MacBook Pro you'll notice the difference it makes. The entire enclosure is thinner and lighter than other notebooks. It looks polished and refined. And it feels strong and durable - perfect for life inside (and outside) your briefcase or backpack. « Less

13-inch 2.3 GHz MacBook Pro Review
Ratings: 3/5 ConsumerSearch - ConsumerSearch - Aug 31, 2011
Pros: Latest processor technology, excellent battery life, good value Cons: Intel graphics are a step down from prior models, no Blu-ray drive, no high-resolution display option The 13-inch MacBook Pro is an impressive performer thanks to the use of second-generation Intel Sandy Bridge Core processors. The 13-inch Pro laptops come in two models, differentiated by their CPU and hard drives, but reviewers say performance is similar, so the cheaper 13-inch 2.3 GHz MacBook Pro is a better buy. ...

Ranked Second in Best Midrange Laptop
Ratings: 5/5 Bestcovery - Bestcovery.com Expert - May 16, 2011
The 13-inch MacBook Pro models retain the powerful processors and zippy performance of the larger models while losing most of the bulk. The unibody construction pays off with how the computer handles, with a hewn-from-granite feel which adds to the impression of solid build quality. The etched glass trackpad at first glance appears to lack a...

The switch has been bitter-sweet
Ratings: 4/5 Best Buy - 865shane - Oct 20, 2011
Pros: Looks, weight, speed Cons: never ending investment on software, peripherals, etc. I finally decided to switch from windows to mac. I've found the switch to be somewhat bittersweet and expensive. Only a couple pieces of software I used was compatible for mac OS X. I find myself switching back and forth from windows 7 (bootcamp) to lion. Some specific problems: Printer drivers and compatible printers - good luck. User interface is more difficult to use than windows. The keyboard lacks page up, page down, delete (as used on widows based keyboards). The money trap commonly associated with Apple products - have to repurchase software - have to buy add on adapters to use with peripherals (HDMI, VGA, etc.). Some specific pros: The smooth operation between applications. I have not found much waiting at all for large memory based programs or multiple programs running simultaneously. Internet surfing in Safari is neat with the gestures done on the trackpad. The keyboard, while lacking keys I've used for years, is super easy to type on (I think I've been able to type about 10 more words per minute at least). Battery charges fast and lasts long. Screen is nice - resolution, glass, hinges, etc. I think I will eventually come around, but the transition has not been as smooth as I thought it would be. Hey, I can't afford to go back now! ;)

A transition from PC to Mac
Ratings: 5/5 B&H Photo-Video-Audio - A Mac newbie - May 13, 2011
I was a PC user before. Never thought to use any Mac product. The reasons that keep me away from Mac are pricey and software compatibility issue. However, my previous PC laptop gave me a lot of painful experience. Overheating, noisy, poor performance OS, short battery life (less than 45 minute) ... and completely die off after 1.5 years... So, I switched to try Mac system and prepare to learn new stuff. But, I was very surprised that Mac OS is so easy to learn. I only spent 2 hrs and I can start to appreciate the simplicity and effectiveness of Mac OS. I just feel very friendly, because it really know what the user actually need! Also, compatibility is no longer the big issue. By using Boot Camp, Windows can be easily run on the machine. I am mainly using Macbook for presentation, text editing, entertainment and a little bit for gaming. For the hardware part, I think everything is currently the high-end product. It definitely good enough for me. What I was quite surprised is that. I can run Tombraider aniversary very smoothly on the machine. This is what I am not expected from an integrated display card. Here is the thing I love about Macbook pro. So far, I never have an overheating problem. It is very quiet, except running some graphic demanding game. The design look simple but pretty (fit to my style). Also, it's slim and ultraportable~ 2kg. The last thing is the battery life, which is very long. Everything is perfect, but It is too pricey. If the price can be brought a little bit down, this could be a perfect choice. Overall, Macbook pro is a quality laptop. It satisfied all my expectation. I will use Macbook again! (Just a little personal experience, hope that is useful)

A great little machine
Ratings: 5/5 Best Buy - Spencerwhy - Mar 12, 2011
This is my first Mac after being forced to use them when I was in elementary school. Now, some 20 years later I found myself buying a Mac by choice. I have to say that I am impressed by this machine's performance. I bought this computer after being frustrated by the size and resolution of my netbook's display. The battery life and larger screen were a huge plus for me. I like the 13" form factor over the 9 and 11" laptops and netbooks I had been looking at. I decided on the Pro because the processor upgrades and increased storage over the Air. I did a good bit of research on the two 13" models. Most of the reviews I read commented that the difference between the i5 and i7 models did not justify the increased price tag. So far I have not been disappointed by my purchase. I am new and learning in the ins and outs of OS X but the learning curve is pretty short. Battery and processor performance seem to live up to the claims made by Apple. I have not really pushed the integrated graphics card as I did not buy this machine to game on (that's what my desktop and PS3 are for...); however, it does manage to stream 1080p video without any stuttering. Overall a great laptop! I am happy with my first Mac!!

The Best!
Ratings: 5/5 Best Buy - jloz18 - Jan 6, 2012
Pros: Everything Cons: nothing I love my MacBook Pro! By far the best laptop I have ever owned. I used to be a PC guy and grew up being used to Window but I couldn't resist the MacBooks after i previously purchased other Apple products (iPhone, Apple TV, Time Capsule). After using PCs for so long it did take me a little getting used to, i.e. the format, the layout etc. but these computers are so easy to use that i became acclimated very quickly. The design of the computer is sleek yet elegant. The performance is unmatched. It runs quietly and efficiently and is extremely quick. The i7 Intel processor i presume is faster, by how much, I'm not sure, however, the i5 core processor version was at a good price so i snagged it. And it was one of the best choices I've ever made with technology. If you own other Apple products chances are you'll be very happy with Apple computers.

first mac, LOVE IT, run windows
Ratings: 5/5 Best Buy - JaredK - Nov 5, 2011
Pros: long battery life, good hardware, OS X Lion Hi all, I hope my review can help you, because I really love this laptop. Up until September I had a HP dm4; it was great until blue screens started occurring. So I had to send it to HP, but I'm in college, and I need a computer for my engineering design course. So I sent the HP in, and I had to get a new computer. After passing over Macs when I got my HP, I thought, "Why not try a Mac this time around?" Since I'm in engineering, I need Windows. No problem, my university offers $15 Windows upgrades (can be used as a normal Windows disc), and Boot Camp made installing Windows easy. But I use OS X Lion whenever I'm not doing design work (95% of the time). /end of story leading up to actual review/
The tech specs on this laptop are pretty good...not great for $1199 (I got it for $1099 from my school though) when compared to Windows laptops, but the upgrade to i5 dual core processors was huge. As with all Apple products, the battery life is phenominal. Everything runs fantastically on the laptop, even on the Windows side. OS X Lion only took like 2 days to get used to, and now I'm using it like a pro even though this is my first Mac. I love the multi-touch gestures and the amazing trackpad! And, of course, the unibody is beautiful..I just want to touch my laptop all the time. It's super-portable and the screen size is just perfect. I would have probably gotten the 15" version if it weren't $500 more; plus, it being my first Mac, I wasn't even sure if I would like it. This laptop is a value in the long run, given Apple laptops last a long time, and my previous HP lasted 9 months before I had to send it in (if you're wondering what ever happened to it, it got fixed and sent back home for my family to use, haha).
All in all, this laptop is brilliant and you should consider buying a Mac...even if you need Windows! Plus they've just upgraded this laptop, and added a slightly better processor and 180GB of hard drive space, ...

Great Computer!
Ratings: 5/5 Best Buy - stellar1285 - Sep 28, 2011
Pros: sleek design, backlit keyboard, battery life, very easy to use Cons: nothing This being my first Mac, I was a bit nervous making the switch from Windows, but wow am I glad I did! Not that I hate windows or anything but OS X Lion blew me away. Its so easy to learn. Within a couple hours I was completely comfortable with it. And everything is so streamlined, all of the programs work so well together and are very well designed. The performance is great as well. I almost always have multiple programs running and I have yet to notice any slowing down. And the battery life is amazing! Apple says it will last 7 hours but I've had it last 8 or 9 before. I love that I can watch multiple movies one one battery charge. Now i don't have to look for outlets at the airport anymore! All that plus it looks amazing! The price was a bit daunting, but I decided to take a chance and invest in a good computer. However for such a high price I would've expected a couple more things. First, a 320GB hard drive seems a bit small. I would've like to get at least 500GB. Second, I would like to have a blu ray drive, especially since much cheaper computers now have them. Those, however, are small things, and I am very happy with this little computer. If this computer lasts as long as they claim, it will be well worth the money. I would definitely recommend this computer to anyone who wants to invest in a great quality computer. I doubt you'll regret it.

The Best Computer By Far
Ratings: 5/5 Best Buy - jasonhr13 - Sep 16, 2011
The Apple MacBook is an amazing product. For the regular everyday user to the heavy duty programmer or graphic designer the Mac out performs all the rest. There are several very distinguishable features that the Mac brings to the game that will always give it a leg up in the competition for best computer. I will discuss a few of these features that I’ve noticed first hand.
First a description as to why I am a reputable source for this review, I purchased my Mac after about a six month stint using a top of the line Windows HP laptop. I am a freelance web designer so I require heavy-duty programs to be running simultaneously for extended periods of time. This is something that I quickly noticed the HP just couldn’t handle. After several days of extremely bad performance I was in need of change for a better more suitable machine. So, I bought a MacBook.
The Mac, to me, is unbeatable. My MacBook is the baseline model with a 2.5Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and Mac OS X Snow leopard. My first impression out of the box was “WOW” it’s so shiny. The laptop itself is very sleek and the one-piece construction makes it quite durable. Upon turning it on you can already notice a huge difference in the speed that OS X loads compared to Windows 7. But the real test was still to come. After about a day I had all of my web design programs loaded on it ad was ready to put it to the real test. I started to work on a current web site job and immediately I could see how much better the MacBook was compared to my previous HP. I had three large programs open with multiple files inside each as well as music playing and a few large files downloading and it was like none of that was even happening, the Mac was scary fast.
I can’t even begin to express how amazing the battery life is on this thing. Most Windows machines come with a 4 to 6 hour battery life, yeah, maybe if I’m not doing anything on it. My Mac battery lasted 11 hours even with a heavy workload. ...

I wanted a laptop that was faster/more reliable
Ratings: 5/5 Best Buy - MadreRose - Sep 7, 2011
Pros: clear, bright screen, lit key board, long battery life, fast, user friendly Cons: sound Everything I need is easy to find. I can move between apps quickly and easily. I was lucky I had help setting up the MacBook Pro, I wouldn't have been able to do it myself. So far the only app I miss is Microsoft Word, not happy that I have to pay extra for it.
The sound quality is not as clear as I was expecting.
