Google Map Maker Privacy Policy

The Google Privacy Policy describes how we treat personal information when you use Google's products and services, including Google Map Maker. In addition, the following describes our privacy practices that are specific to certain features of Google Map Maker.

You need a Google Account to be able to edit content on Google Map Maker. Google asks for some personal information when you create a Google Account, including your email address and a password, which is used to protect your account from unauthorized access. A Google Account allows you to access many of our services that require registration.

Identification of editors of content:

While making any change on the Map Maker, you must be logged in. Any edit made by you will be published in real time and you will be identified by the name given by you while creating a Google Account. You will also have the option of giving a pseudonym or a nickname, in which event, you will be identified by your pseudonym or nickname, instead of your actual name.

You hereby expressly consent that your name or pseudonym/nickname, as the case may be, can be displayed publicly to identify you in connection with any action that you may perform on Google Map Maker that is including but not limited to editing and moderation. Any edit made by you will be visible to all other users - including users who may moderate the change.

You expressly agree that all actions performed by you on Google Map Maker including but not limited to adding, deleting, editing, and moderation, browse requests and clicks, the times when edits were made may be logged. In addition, we may also log the IP address of all requests made by you, and may choose to display it to other users in connection with the edits made by you on Google Map Maker. You hereby expressly consent to such display of your IP address.

The changes made by you on Google Map Maker are not protected by passwords and are capable of being modified by other users, in accordance with the Google Map Maker Terms of Service. You may delete your Google Account at any point, and after that you will not be able to make any further changes to Map Maker. You hereby consent that we may retain any edits or contributions made by you as a Google Account holder and continue to identify your name along with such edits. We retain the discretion to disable such edits made by you but are under no obligation to do so and other users may be able to view the entire history of any change or edit made to a particular feature.

You also consent that Google may collect, process, and store such personally identifiable information and transfer it to jurisdictions which may not be bound by equivalent data protection legislations as may be applicable in your jurisdiction. In each case, Google shall protect your personally identifiable information in accordance with its global Privacy Policy.

Communication with users:

The Google Map Maker team may communicate with you at the email ID voluntarily given by you. In addition, you may also opt to receive notifications from the Google Map Maker team on the email ID given by you. You hereby consent to receiving such email communications from the Google Map Maker team or moderators and agree that such email communication does not constitute spam or unsolicited email communications (or terms of equivalent import as may be used in your jurisdiction).

In addition, to communicate with you, we may use other Google products and services (such as Google Groups) and even third party products. In each case you will be invited to join such other Google or third party product and you shall be free to join or to decline such invitations. In case you choose to join such product you expressly agree and acknowledge that such Google or third party products are bound by their respective terms of service and privacy policy and that the Google Map Maker Terms of Service or the Privacy Policy will not apply to such products and services.

We may maintain mailing lists to disseminate information about the product. we will not disclose the email IDs of the subscribers to these mailing lists, however, if you reply to such mailing lists, your email address may be exposed to other subscribers of that list, and your address may be quoted in messages.

Disclosure of personal information

You acknowledge and hereby give your consent to the disclosure of your personal information to a law enforcement agency or any government authority that requisitions such information in accordance with due process of law.
