Owner called me a bitch | I tried to meet my husband here, but the owner Ravi Derossi wouldn't let me into the restaurant until he finished a cell phone call, then screamed "You're a bitch!" when I told him we were leaving because he had been so rude. Maybe acting like a club bouncer and verbally abusing women is part of an attempt to create an edgy sort of exclusivity, but I prefer places that treat customers like human beings. Obviously, we won't be back. |

The best wine and beer cocktails E V E R! | I love this place, it has the most awesome wine cocktails ever, a really cool looking host, fondue, great music. I liked it more when it was in the old smaller location but it still kept that cozy feeling in the new location too. Totally worth checking out. |

Head downstairs to the unmarked black door and ring the little white buzzer to gain entry to a this cozy beer lovers bar in the former Bourgeois Pig West space. There's a unique selection of bottle beers (weighted heavily with Belgian Ales) and a small but thoughtful wine selection.
An appropriate name, given the contradictory symbol of the rabbit; the Spartan approach of coarsely fitting the bar w/ exposed light bulbs, beer bottle-encased votives, and threadbare walls tactfully contrasts w/ the carefully bedecked restroom at the back. And you should make friends w/ the bartender (Sean) and the owner (Drew) both of whom offer quite a character of their own w/ their curious takes on bar-hopping, audiophilism, and the darkly entertaining nature of MacDougal's nocturnal patrons
There's a buzzer!
Very low key: the entrance is a set of black-studded, steel doors with no sign. When Josh and walked in for a quick one before Tess's birthday party on 5/3, the patron's were surprised to see someone walk into the place. A great beer selection (mostly Belgian) although a bit pricey - my Lindeman's was $12, and I think it was 6-8 at Gingerman. Solid spot for a beer and a talk.
43 MacDougal. Don't be shy when you come to this new beer bar. The door is black and unmarked (no the bar isn't at the back of Meskerem) and you have to buzz to get let in. Inside you'll find a couple booths and a loooong bar. The beer selection is strictly bottle, roughly 20, but the list is pretty unique.
