With Google Maps on your Android phone, you'll never have to carry a paper map again.
To ensure you have the latest release, search for Google Maps in Android Market.
My Location (beta). Google Maps on Android uses the built-in GPS to show your location on the map. And if GPS reading is temporarily unavailable, My Location shows your approximate location on the map. So you can always find where you are.

New! Google Latitude. See friends' locations and status updates, and share your own.
Map and satellite views. Google Maps on Android gives you both map and satellite views of the area you're looking at, using an interface that feels just like it does on the desktop. Scroll in a direction to see more of the map, or zoom in and out by tapping the magnifying glass.
Street View. Want to see what would it look like if you were right there? Street View brings you street-level imagery of the location you're looking for, so you can explore an area thousands of miles away. With Compass Mode you can literally turn around and check for yourself.
Business listings. "Search for businesses by name (e.g. "Joe's Pasta"), or by type (e.g. "Italian food"). Check store hours, reviews, and ratings, and then dial the business you're interested in with a single click."
Driving directions. It's easy to get turn-by-turn driving directions. Thanks to the My Location feature, you don't even have to enter your starting point.
New! Transit and walking directions. Get subway, bus, and train schedules in hundreds of cities around the world.
Traffic. Highways on Google Maps are colored green, yellow or red, based on real-time traffic data.

Google Maps for mobile works on most phones, including those that run the below platforms. You can always download Maps to your phone using your cellular connection -- just visit m.google.com/maps on your device's browser, or send yourself a text message using the button at the top of this page. Some mobile phones also support the ability to sideload Google Maps onto your phone.
If you're not sure whether your phone runs one of these platforms, just try sending yourself a text message to get Maps. It will probably work!
