Why drill pipe end caps?

Screw on the end-caps; then have a 3/8" hole drilled for you. The hole must be exactly on the center axis of the pipe. Do not drill the end-cap on center and assume that this win fall on the pipe's center axis. This is best done on a lathe. ![]() ![]() Neat stuff from Lifehacker
Despite a multitude of high-tech note-taking tools, the classic pen and paper still holds a special place in many a note-taker's heart. The low-tech gadgets readers prefer for pen-and-paper notes vary greatly. From classics like the Moleskine or simple notebook to the Hipster PDA or Post-It notes, the dead-tree route is still the place many prefer to take their notes. If paper is your preference, check out how to customize your notebook to take great notes.
Boot failure with Windows XP Home
My Compaq Presario V2000 laptop didn't want to come out of hibernation today. During normal boot, I get a BSOD with different technical information on every attempt. Here are a few of the ones I've seen when automatic restart is disabled.
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL STOP: 0x000000D1 (0xC1DD8085,0x00000002,0x00000001,0xED82B63E) tcpip.sys - Address ED82B63E base at ED82B000, DateStamp 485b8a36 STOP: 0x0000007F (0x0000000D,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000) Booting in safe mode runs through Mup.sys loading, then I get the Safe Mode screen. Then I get this pop-up: savedump.exe - Entry Point Not Found ----- The procedure entry point RcpAsyncInifializeHandle could not be located in the dynamic link library RPCRT4.dll. As I click on OK, I get the same message about services.exe, lsass.exe I am quite certain the word in the entry point name is Inifialize, not Initialize. Also, on a previous attempt, I got a different message about an entry point containing several illegal character in GDI32.dll. The BIOS diagnostics say that the hard drive is OK. My next thought was to try the system file checker described below, but now I'm wondering if it may be a memory problem. Memtest86 v1.65 (from my Ubuntu 6.06 CD-ROM) does indicate lots of memory errors. I guess I'm running down to Best Buy tomorrow. performing a (sfc) system file checker

Gamasutra October 1997 Archive In Kesmai's Multiplayer Battletech, control logic determined the selection of segments within a game state and the selection of sets of segments at game state changes. Thus, the control logic was able to construct melodies and bass lines out of one to two measure segments following a musical pattern. At game state changes, a transition segment was played, and a whole different set of segments was selected. However, this transition segment was played only after the current set of segments finished playing so as not to interrupt the flow of the music. I selected game states and also tracked game state changes based on the player's relative health vs. the health of the opponent. Overall, I composed 220 one to two measure segments that could all be arranged algorithmically by the control logic. What resulted was a soundtrack that was closely coupled with the game-playing experience. Gamasutra - Design With Music In Mind: A Guide to Adaptive Audio for Game Designers

Gamasutra In this article, I'm going to explain ways that game designers can work more closely with composers to achieve a more integrated soundtrack for games. The following sections will show you, the game designer, how to incorporate music into your game design from the onset of a project, and how to follow through from initial concept to final implementation, leading to a highly immersive game score. Gamasutra This article explores adaptive art in the context of language. This is because language is much easier to demonstrate and discuss in the written medium than music is! So, despite the title "Adaptive Music," this article doesn't talk about music at all - except by analogy. Homeschooling links

It's hard to find examples that don't involve the trans-Atlantic slave trade. http://johnquiggin.com/index.php/archives/2006/04/11/triangular-trade/ In some respects, the pattern of trade between Australia, China and the United States fits the triangular trade story neatly. Australia exports lots of raw materials to China, which in turn exports a wide range of manufactures to the US, which exports high-tech goods and services to Australia. Much the same story is true, with other Asian countries such as Japan in place of China. http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=664524 We now study a triangular trade system of three countries (A, B, C) and three goods (fish c, wine w, and soybean s). (It isn't specified if this example is based on any real-world situation.) http://www.rieti.go.jp/en/events/bbl/05071901.html A TTS has formed among these three regions. Japan/NIEs produce parts through high-technology, capital-intensive processes and export them to China and ASEAN. China and ASEAN, in turn, assemble such parts into final goods, capital goods or consumption goods, and export them to final markets such as the U.S. and EU, which consume such goods. Moreover, trade value in TTS has increased ((intermediate goods exports of Japan/NIEs to China/ASEAN) + (final goods exports of China/ASEAN to U.S./EU)). The share of TTS in total trade value has also more than doubled. Therefore, TTS has been strengthened. (No mention is made of what the US exports to Japan.) Labels:
