Blackboard Training Series - Getting Started with Blackboard

Date: Tuesday, November 4
Time: 10:00 - 11:00am
Location: Virtual Elluminate Session

This session will introduce users to Blackboard.  Upon completion of the session, participants will be able to navigate through Blackboard in display view, as well as edit view, and manage the overall course design of their site.  Participants will be able to view student rosters, remove students, and make the course available or unavailable to individual users.  They'll gain a basic understanding of how to add, edit, and delete content in their course, create discussion board forums, and view assignment submissions and grades of their students.  Please request a Blackboard site prior to attending this session using the online, new site request form: New Blackboard Site Request

Quality Matters - Fast Track to the Web: Session One

This session will focus on designing a course introduction, web syllabus, course outline, and policies and procedures for a web course based on the standards of Quality Matters. Participants should come to this session with a minimum of a traditional syllabus for their course. 
Blackboard Training Series - Adding, Modifying and Deleting Course Content in Blackboard

Date: Friday, November 7
Time: 10:00 - 11:00am
Location: Virtual Elluminate Session 
 
This session will focus on adding, modifying and deleting course content in Blackboard.  Users will learn how to upload and modify textbook/publisher materials, interactive activities, multimedia (video and audio files), and external links.

Quality Matters - Fast Track to the Web: Session Two

Date: Thursday, November 20
Time: 1:30 - 3:00pm
Location: Room 2412
 
This session will focus on designing course content, multimedia, interactive activities and discussions for your web course. Participants should have selected a textbook for their course prior to attending this session. We will work collaboratively to develop materials for your individual courses. 
Blackboard Training Series - Assignments and Assessments

Date: Friday, November 21
Time: 10:15 - 11:15am
Location: Virtual Elluminate Session
 
Participants of this session will be able to add, modify and delete assignments and assessments in Blackboard.  Users will be able to add assignments, view student submisssions, and grade assignments.  They will also be able to design an assessment with various types of questions, modify questions, create instructions, and deploy the assessment to the student by modifying the test options.  Participants of this session should be comfortable navigating through Blackboard, and uploading content.

This session will focus on designing assignments, assessments, and the use of rubrics in a web course. Participants should have already developed a course syllabus, outline, and instructional content for the course. 
Blackboard Training Series - Bells and Whistles

Date: Friday, December 5
Time: 10:00 - 11:00am
Location: Virtual Elluminate Session
 
This session will explore the bells and whistles of Web 2.0 technology.  We'll look at new features in Blackboard, and explore techniques for incorporating audio, video, blogs, and virtual classrooms into web courses.

Quality Matters - Fast Track to the Web: Session Four

Date: Thursday, December 11
Time: 1:30 - 3:00pm
Location: Room 2412
 
This session will focus on navigation of a web course.  Participants attending this session should have developed an overall structure for their course including, but not limited to, web course syllabi, introduction, outline, course content, course activities, assignments, and assessments.  We will focus on tying each of these elements together to ensure ease of navigation throughout the course.  During this session, we'll ask our peers to look at our courses with an "outside" eye to determine areas of navigation that work well, or may need improvement. 
Blackboard Training Series - Blackboard v. 8 Grade Center

Date: Friday, December 12
Time: 10:00 - 11:00am
Location: Virtual Elluminate Session 
 
This session will provide users with a demonstration of the changes to the grade center in Blackboard v. 8.  As a reminder, we will be upgrading to Blackboard v. 8 on January 2.
