A 54-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon after being charged with cultivating 70 marijuana plants.

James Patrick Gardner, of Notch Road, was released from the Oxford County Jail on personal recognizance bail. Under his conditions of release, Gardner must not use illegal drugs or alcohol and submit to searches.

LeBron James may not be willing to admit he was dunked on by a college player a couple of weeks ago, but he is ready to acknowledge that he was a pot-smoking "jerk" as a teenager.

A Moorpark man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving Sunday night after he was in a car crash that seriously injured his passenger, authorities said.

Graham Gilmore, 19, was westbound on Countrywood Drive in Moorpark at high speed about 11 p.m. when he lost control and hit a cement light pole and a block retaining wall, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said.

Times columnist Gregory Sullivan acknowledges marijuana's therapeutic potential, but he argues that federal law must be changed before New Jersey passes its Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act (The Times, "Compassionate, but still illegal," Dec. 30). The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear, and thus let stand, a decision from California's Fourth District Court of Appeals, which said: "Congress enacted the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) to combat recreational drug abuse and curb drug trafficking. Its goal was not to regulate the practice of medicine, a task that falls within the traditional powers of the states. ... Congress regulates medical practice (only) insofar as it bars doctors from using their prescription-writing powers as a means to engage in illicit drug dealing ... . Beyond this, however, the statute manifests no intent to regulate the practice of medicine generally."

Overland Park police arrested three people on suspicion of drunken driving after they were stopped as part of a special enforcement patrol.

Proponents argue that easily grown and robust Cannabis Hemp is one of the best if not the very best plants overall for fuel, building supplies, medicine, fiber, food, paper, and substitute for wood. Some go so far as to argue that it could be the best solution to global warming. Yet due to the governments opinion of its abuse for its drug properties (Marijuana), it is illegal in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Like many of you, I go to basement shows (or at least I used to before I landed the WW Music Editor gig). Washington (dbTechno) - Recently, the debate has come up as to whether or not the drinking age should be lowered from 21 to 18.  This comes as 130 presidents of colleges and universities across the U.S. signed an initiative to support the move.  Does this put college students at risk though in regards to their health?

Now we’ve seen just about everything.  A man in Whitehall, New York was recently arrested for DUI after he was seen swerving around while driving his “Cruzin Cooler” – a beer cooler with three wheels, a handlebar and an electric motor.

The plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West's mother before she died last fall has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

A Los Angeles Police Department traffic division officer was arrested during the weekend for investigation of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, officials said Monday. Brian Lawrence Gossh, 27, was arrested in Van Nuys, booked into jail Sunday and then released, said LAPD Officer Karen Smith. She did not know when Gossh would be arraigned, citing an internal investigation and personnel issues as reasons for not commenting further. (AP)
