Mislead » misleading

Lead into error, lead in the wrong direction, to wrong conclusion, etc.,

misinform, give false or confusing information to, cause to infer what is not true, cause to have a false impression or belief (either through deliberate deception or by supplying inaccurate information);

lead into mistaken action or belief, often deliberately.
