Alternative

Two or more courses-of-action open to choose between, two or more things between which a choice is available,

a situation such that one (or more, but not all) of two or more things – events, objects, beliefs, hypotheses, etc.  – may be chosen, the choice involving the rejection of another (others), able to be used or chosen instead of something else;

also, (one of) those avenues (which are) chosen between.
