Distort » distortion

Give a twist to, thoughts, views, etc.;

pervert, misrepresent, or garble statements, facts, motives, etc.;

deform or alter true meaning of, modify something - a statement, argument, etc. – so that it seems to mean something it was not intended to mean, change the meaning of by an inaccurate re-telling;

an inaccurate description resulting from the omission or misrepresentation of relevant information, that something is changed so that it is no longer faithfully represented.
