The significance of or sense in which a statement, action, word, symbol, etc., is intended to be understoodthat which a communicator intended to convey;

having significance, importance, value, or purpose (e.g., of a message) - being worthwhile;

the apprehended representations of a hearer or reader - the significance of a message as received;
the inner, symbolic, or true
interpretation, value, or message;

having meaning, full of significance; expressive - serious and important.
