This carving clearly shows a Stegaosaurus-Like creature in an ancient Hindu Temple. We think the 40Ar/36Ar ratios in the solid earth and the atmosphere have probably increased with time. Theoretical considerations and the available literature both indicate, however, that the 40Ar/36Ar ratio in the solid earth is much higher than the 40Ar/36Ar ratio in the atmosphere.

Ages calculated from these measurements increase with sample depth up to 22 million years for lavas deduced to be recent. Caution is urged in applying dates from deep-ocean basalts in studies on ocean-floor spreading. |
