Will Pay Per Click Advertising Work For Me?

Every Internet marketer wants to achieve a high search engine position for a chosen keyword. The purpose of this is to try and capture the eyes of perspective customers as they type in the key phrases that are being targeted into the search engines. If you can get your website listed on the first page of results, you are in Gravy!

How easy is it to get onto the first page of the search results though? If it were that simple, we would all be Internet millionaires.

The main rule of the search engines is that they like to see lots of inbound links, preferably from related and respected sites. What I mean by this is that the search engines like to see links to your site on other sites. If those links are from sites related to yours, so much the better. If those sites are also trusted and respected by the search engines, you are starting to do something right.

Not only is it time consuming to get votes to your site, the results are not usually apparent anytime soon. You could wait months for your work to bear fruit. That is not to say that you shouldn't be trying to get links, you should. It is a good medium to long term strategy that will deliver long term results. If you need to see results more quickly though, perhaps you should be thinking about pay per click advertising.

Not only is it time consuming, but it can take many months to see the fruits of your labour. Getting links back to your site is still something that you continue to try and do of course, it is just that it is a medium to long term strategy. So, if you need to see results more quickly, then you need to consider other options. Pay per click advertising is one of those options.

Pay per click advertising presents some advantages over more conventional methods of advertising. Firstly, it is possible to get very targeted traffic using pay per click advertising, and ppc viewers are often very good sales prospects indeed. Because web sites are usually controlled very tightly by webmasters, they are themed very neatly. This means that pay per click search engines can place ads quite closely matched to your ads. You can get your ads very specific indeed, despite the fact that there is relatively little space to advertise on.

PPC advertising can be very cost effective. Done correctly, and well tested, you can achieve a very good return on investment with pay per click. That being said, if you are not careful, it can also prove to be expensive. If you do decide to try pay per click advertising, just exercise caution to start with and you should be ok.

Pay per click advertising is not for everyone of course. You can do very well from organic searches simply by themeing your web pages and building links to your site from respected sources. Another way of collecting backlinks is simply to pay attention to what is going on in the SEO world. There is often new techniques developed that help you to create huge numbers of quality backlinks in very short periods of time. If you can latch onto one of these, you stand to do very well with your web site.

Tips To Getting Guaranteed Website Traffic

If you are willing to pay for it, almost anything is guaranteed. This applies to website traffic as it does to anything else. There is another saying too, you get what you pay for. That too applies to guaranteed website traffic. And another one, you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. I think that you get the picture. The top of the range guaranteed website traffic models come from Google, in the form of their Adwords program, and from MSN and Yahoo, who have their own equivalents. The principal is that you bid to get your ad placed on someone else's website. When a visitor clicks on your add, you have to pay for the click. This is called, pay per click (ppc).

This method of guaranteed traffic generation can work a treat, if you know what you doing. If you don't know what you are doing, then it could cost you your shirt.

Sadly, there are many of us out there that have neither the experience or the cash to run successful Adwords campaigns. So what do we do for our guaranteed website traffic? There are a myriad of sites out there that offer 'guaranteed hits' to your site. This is nothing to do with ppc. My experience of these reminds me of yet another saying; something to do with ten foot poles.

The Internet is a great place to search for information isn't it? Doesn't that give you some ideas? People want information, and will flock to sites that have good quality information on it. Isn't that good traffic? What's more, it is better than just 'traffic' it is what is known as 'laser targeted traffic', if you believe the hype you read. In this case, it is true. You have a site about plums, then the people who visit your site about plums, will be interested in plums. Logical? So, if you have an ad about plums on that site, you should get some visitors. Quite right. So how do you get the search engines to notice your plum site?

The search engines (by and large) use a 'voting' system to decide which sites get place to the top of their search results pages (SERPS). The more other sites that you have voting for you, the higher you will be. It does get more complicated than that though (as you would expect). The search engines have all manner of complex algorithms working away to add more weight to certain votes over others. If for example the voting site is already well respected, a vote from them will carry a lot of weight. If the site voting for you is also about plums, then that will carry weight. If you get a vote from a well respected site which is about plums, then you have struck gold!

These 'votes' are called 'backlinks', or links to your site from another, and they are the holy grail of search engine optimisation (SEO). Link building is a slow and arduous task. The fact that it can take a lot of your valuable time means that it is also expensive. This is where some of the cleverer people involved in SEO start to show their merit. They come up with ways of generating backlinks far more easily. For example, find blogs that have a similar theme to that of your site, and leave a (relevant) comment on it, with a link back to your site. Great! A link back AND the chance of getting some traffic directly from the link (if your comment is good).

But even this is time consuming, surely there must be a better way?

Well, there is! Find out for yourself at targeted website traffic.
