Did I understand correctly? Are you really involved in matching
students up with potential employers, such that "qualified" students
are paid minimum wage from the state budget?

The students are paid minimum wage but not from the state budget. I
have a federal grant to run my program.

The quote starts at 1 minute, 52 seconds:

"After the students turn 16 years old, and they've completed some of
the job training classes, they can apply to local businesses. If
hired, they are paid minimum wage through state funds."

So are you saying the "state funds" are federal grants? Or was this
just a mistake in how the segment was reported?

You know reporters they don't always get the facts right. He misunderstood. We were just happy to get HOWS market the recognition they deserve for the work they with the young adults in our community.

May I ask why you're inquiring about this?

Yes, I know reporters don't always get the facts right, yet TUSD goes
ahead and posts their sloppy work on the official TUSD YouTube channel
anyway.

I'm inquiring about this because whether it is state or federal funds,
it sounds like classic fascism either way. I just wanted to verify
that students are in fact being paid under threat of violence and it
looks like they in fact are. Thanks for the clarification.

I'll be sure to avoid HOWS any any other business that I find
participating in this program.
