Allegory A fable* in which the action of the characters and events is symbolic of a truth or truths, for instance having moral or political† meaning, and illustrating some important facet of the subject. An extended metaphor.
* Fable A narrative which is not factual – a myth or a legend; a short story devised to convey what is thought to be a useful lesson; a false or incredible account about something.
† Political Of or relating to power in relationships between persons, groups, or peoples, etc., or the carrying out of actions in pursuit of particular desirable outcomes in preference to acting for morally-justified reasons.
