Evidence

Reasons which may provide enough support to believe that a claim, proposition, hypothesis, etc., is true or acceptable.

Consensus, fact, and research findings: each is a kind of evidence – as are anecdotes, personal experience, testimonials, and case studies – and each is a reason which might be offered in support of a claim or conclusion. Some kinds of evidence are better than others, such as research evidence.
