A numerical value summarizing a characteristic of a sample which, if the sample is not biased, reflects the population from which the sample was drawn, for instance, the percentage of some group having a particular property.

 

Statistics

The branch of mathematics concerned with probabilities and the characteristics of distributions of numbersanalyzing and interpreting (numerical) data of samples and populations.
