Test

A criterion or critical operation used to assess the validity of a proposition, truth of a statement, correctness of an argument, credibility of a claim, accuracy of an hypothesis or theory, etc., as well as the carrying out of such a critical operation;

also, any procedure used to measure a factor or to assess some ability, for example, an aptitude test, medical test, intelligence test, etc.
