Standard

An indication or measure showing the degree to which a criterion of evaluation has been met.

Standardization

Used in scientific testing and involves:

1.        comparable test stimuli across assessors;

2.        detailed instructions regarding related administrative procedures;

3.        detailed descriptions of scoring procedures for obtaining test data.

Ensures that the influence of unique aspects of the testing situation and the assessor are minimized, and that the test results can be compared with each other.

Also, the establishment of a set of norms or standards;

and more generally: the adjustment of something so that it is brought into some standard frame of reference.
