Framework A system of rules, ideas, or principles which is used to plan, decide, or provide the background or context for understanding something; also, an assumption or set of assumptions which support an interpretation or concept and function as a guide to thinking about that concept.
For example, a framework of beliefs: an integrated and mutually-dependent and ostensibly compatible network of beliefs held by actors, or an explanatory, policy or theoretical framework.
