ideology

Ideology

A body of (ostensibly mutually-consistent) ideas or system of values and beliefs underlying political, religious, philosophical, or economic dogmas such as those of Catholicism, Islam, Liberalism, Nazism, Marxism, Conservatism, and free-market Capitalism – especially pernicious or dangerous when held to zealously, with a religious-like fanaticism. Ideologues may show a substantial reluctance or resistance to subjecting the central pillars of their ideology to genuine tests.

Ideological: of or pertaining to an ideology – based upon an ideological view or the principles derived from such a view, in contrast to the outcome of a rational evaluation of evidence or reality.
