Qualifying expressions

Words and phrases such as probably, possibly, relatively, somewhat, its likely that, may play a role in, and it's almost certain, etc., used to communicate the degree of confidence an actor has in his or her conclusions, and restricting or modifying the meaning of remarks made concerning a claim under discussion.

 

That what is being claimed is closely in proportion or accordance with what can be or is justified, for example, in the case of genuine expert opinion.
