Assimilation bias The propensity to resolve discrepancies between pre-existing schema and new information by assimilating the new information rather than accomodating it, at the consequent expense of distorting the context of or one’s understanding of the information itself.
Assimilation Cognitive process in which actors’ response to new information and experiences is to modify their conception or understanding of this new information to fit their pre-existing beliefs or schema.
