Microwave
Clean spills and deodorize with this routine from San Francisco Chronicle cleaning columnist Tara Aronson.

Step 1: Fill a coffee mug with water and a few slices of lemon; put it in the middle of the microwave’s tray. Cook on a high setting for about three minutes, then turn off the microwave.
Step 2: Leave the mug inside for another three minutes or so. The steam will soften food spills, and the hot lemon will give that lingering pasta-sauce odor the boot once and for all.
Step 3: Open the door and take out the mug. Wipe down the walls with warm, soapy water to remove residue and food. Then rinse and dry with a clean dishcloth.

**Maid's Tip** Cleaning your microwave is easy peasy.  Put a bowl of vinegar and water in the microwave, and cook on high for 3 minutes. Then just wipe out the microwave with a rag. The vinegar will take care of that funky popcorn/bacon smell combo most everyone's microwave has, and the steam will soften even the most funky funk that's in your microwave.
Sponge Techniques:
* Put sponges in utensil compartment of dishwasher or launder & dry with clothes
* Microwave a wet sponge for 1 MN
Garbage Disposal Tips
* Run lemon peels and ice in garbage disposal to sharpen blades and deoderize
* Run hot water & 1 Tbl dishwashing detergent in disposal for 15-30 seconds, then run hot water until suds are gone. This prevents grease build up.

Don't use kitty litter to get grease and gasoline stains off of cement--you will never get it all. Instead, use powdered dishwasher detergent.
