Back to that IPv6 D-Day thing … so, today is June 30th, 2008. And with little fanfare, the OMB522 deadline has arrived. Did this change the world?

Of course not - but it *is* a step in the right direction, representing the US government making something of a dedicated effort (with varying levels of real world applicability) in having their ginormous IT infrastructure being future-ready. That is a Good Thing!!

Great review of a recent IPv6 Security presentation by Command Information's Joe Klein!

As of 02/04/08 (cute, eh?) ICANN/IANA will be adding AAAA (”Quad A”) records for 4 of the Root Servers.
Internet doomed unless everyone switches to IPv6, expert says | 17 Jun 2008 | ComputerWeekly.com

Huston warned that the industry had done very little to respond to the problem of migrating over to IPv6. "If you deploy IPv6, [your machines] can't talk to the rest of the world, This means the entire Internet has to run two protocols for the next 10 years." After this time all machines and users will has moved over to IPv6. He estimated that one billion users and machines across the globe will need to be migrated onto IPv6.
