Google Buttons for the Macintosh Internet Explorer Browser

A. Prepare your Browser

  • Make sure your Button Bar is showing. If you cannot see it, go to the View menu to make it appear..
  • To make additional space on your toolbar, edit your bookmarks by pressing Apple -J. Click on the button icon and select "Clear" under the "Edit" menu.

B. Drag Links onto your Button Bar to Create Buttons


Google Search
Prompts small search box for entering text.
Google.com
One click takes you directly to Google's homepage.

  1. Place your pointer on any of the text links above.

  2. Click down on the mouse button and hold. (If you hold down too long without dragging, a selection box will appear.)

  3. Drag the link to your Button Bar - your pointer symbol will change.

  4. Release mouse button to create the link as a button on your toolbar.

NOTE: The highlighting functionality of the Google Search button does not work with Macintosh Internet Explorer. Clicking the Google Search button will prompt a search box.

C. Try the Buttons

Google Search

  • Click the Google Search button to prompt a search box.
  • Enter a phrase such as "Stanford University" and hit 'OK' to do a Google web search for the phrase.

Google.com

  • Simply click the Google.com button to quickly go to the Google homepage located at www.google.com.

NOTES: The Google Browser Buttons are tailored to the browser you are using. They should work for recent versions, but may not work for older browsers.
