Google Buttons for the Macintosh Netscape Browser

A. Prepare your Browser

  • Make sure your Personal Toolbar is showing. If you cannot see it, go to the View menu to make it appear.
  • To remove an unwanted button from your toolbar, click and hold it as you drag to the trash.

B. Drag Links onto your Personal Toolbar to Create Buttons


Google Search
Performs search on any highlighted text or just click button to prompt pop-up search box.
Google.com
One click takes you directly to Google's homepage.



 


  1. Place your pointer on either of the text links above.

  2. Click down on the mouse button and hold. (If you hold down too long without dragging, a selection box will appear.)

  3. Quickly drag the link to your Personal Toolbar.

  4. Release the mouse button to create the link as a button on your toolbar.

Note: The GoogleScout button is not available for Macintosh Netscape browsers.

C. Try the Buttons

Google Search

  • Use your mouse to highlight this phrase: Stanford University.
  • Click the Google Search button to do a Google web search for the highlighted phrase.

    Highlight Text    Click Button    View Results
  • OR... simply click the button to prompt a pop-up Google search box.

Google.com

  • Simply click the Google.com button to quickly go to the Google homepage located at www.google.com.

NOTES: The Google Browser Buttons are tailored to the browser you are using. They should work for recent versions, but may not work for older browsers.
