Google Buttons for the Windows Internet Explorer Browser
A. Prepare your Browser
- Make sure your Links Toolbar is showing. If you cannot see it, go to the View > Toolbars > Links menu to make it appear.
- If the "Links" toolbar isn't fully showing, click and hold on "Links" while moving it to create more space.
- To remove any unwanted buttons, right click on the name and select "Delete".
B. Add Buttons to your Links Toolbar

Search Performs search on any highlighted text or just click button to prompt pop-up search box. |
To add Google.com:
- Place your mouse pointer on the Google.com text link above.
- Press down the left mouse button and hold.
- Drag to the "Links" bar - your pointer symbol will change.
- Release the mouse to create the link as a button on your toolbar.
To add Google Search:
- Place your mouse pointer on the Google Search text link above.
- Click the right mouse button and select "Add to Favorites..."
- Click "Yes" to continue adding the button.
- Select the sub-folder "links" and click "OK."
C. Try the Buttons
Google Search
- Use your mouse to highlight this phrase: Stanford University.
- Click the Google Search button to do a Google web search for the highlighted phrase.
- OR... simply click the button to prompt a pop-up Google search box.
Google.com
- Simply click the Google.com button to quickly go to the Google homepage located at www.google.com.
NOTE: The Google Browser Buttons are tailored to the browser you are using. They should work for recent versions, but may not work for older browsers.
