Abstract

A targeting device for an implant to be used for fractures preferably for trochantoric or subtrochantoric fractures, comprises a head having a projection to retain a femur nail to be inserted in the medulla canal of a femur. Locking means releasably fasten the femur nail to the projection, and a targeting arm laterally attached to the head extends parallel to a nail attached to said head and has at least one targeting bore for inserting a drill sleeve. Each targeting bore can be aligned to a proximal sloped bore or, respectively, to a distal transverse bore of the femur nail. The targeting arm is preferably fixed to the head has a plurality of targeting bores extending under different angles with respect to the axis of the arm, to allow using femur nails having different angular bores.
