Abstract

A chemical feeder having a collection reservoir (4) and an erosion reservoir (45) located within and spaced from the wall of the collection reservoir (4). Anelongated cylinder (20) is supported on the collection reservoir (4) and the lower end of the cylinder (20) is located in the collection reservoir (4). The collection reservoir (4) has a water discharge outlet and the erosion reservoir (45) has a water inlet with a valve to control the flow rate of water into the erosion reservoir (45). A canister (30) containing solid chemical sanitizing elements (T) is supported in the cylinder (20) and its lower end portion is located in the upper portion of the erosion reservoir (45).
Openings are located in the lower end portion of the canister (20) so that solid dry chemical sanitizing elements (T) located in the lower end portion of the canister (20) can be contacted by water in the erosion reservoir (45) to erode and dissolve the solid elements (T) to chemically treat water flowing out of the erosion reservoir (45) into the collection reservoir (4).
