Abstract

A tire pressure monitoring device for a vehicle having several wheels comprises a central receiv-ing and evaluation device at the vehicle. Each a receiving antenna (A, B, C, ... N) is arranged stationarily at the vehicle structure adjacent to at least each active wheel and thus attributed to said specific wheel. All said receiving antennas (A, B, C, ... N) being connected via each a dis-tinctive connecting line (a, b, c, ... n) with a single receiver means. Said receiver means comprises a multiplexer-circuit connecting per time interval only one single selected receiving antenna or several selected receiving antennas with said receiving means. Further, said receiver means sens-ing a field strength of each specific radiogram and thus selecting said specific receiving antenna comprising the highest field strength of a received radiogram during said specific time interval.
Thus, central evaluation means may attribute a specific radiogram to said specific wheel being arranged adjacent to said receiving antenna comprising the highest field strength of a received radiogram during said specific time interval.

Description

Tire ~ e~u, e Monitoring Device SpeCifiCqti(ln The present invention is related to a tire ples~ule monitoring device comprising each a signal generating device at each wheel, and each a receiving antenna per wheel, and each a tr~n~tPr means at each wheel for t~ r tr~n~mi~rn of radiograms to said receiving ~nt~nn~ and a central evah~tion means for evaluating the radiograms in order to provide a vehicle driver with iU~ol ",~I;nn~ lt;g~ g the con~lhion~ ofthe ~ tires. FuIthermore, the invention is related to a multi-path receiver, in particular to a quadruple receiver or a quintuple receiver for such a tire pressure monitoring device. The tire pressure monitoring device according to the present invention may be used in cnnnectinn with all lAnd vehicles and aircrafts which are provided wi~h several pneumatic tires. Preferably, the tire ples~we mnnhonng device may be used as a device for monitoring the ples~uLe in the tires of motor vehicles like cars, trucks and busses. In the fol-lowing, the tire plessule monitoring device according to the present invention is described in connection with a car which is provided with four monitored tires, however, the invention is not rss~i~ted to cars. .Adflhi-)n~lly, also the air pressure in the spare wheel may be monitored, if de-slred.

A tire pressure monitoring device of said type is known from document DE-C2-39 30 479. A~
cording to this document each wheel together with hs transmitter device is provided with an own receiver. Each receiver typically comprises a ferrit rod having a receiver antenna and a known receiver circuit. The el~ctn. ql power need ofthe receiver circuit may be provided with the power supply of the vehicle. The receiver circuit comprises outputs which are connected by means of connecting lines with an in~icqtor device mounted at the in~ panel or the like ofthe vehi-cle. Signal effacing may occur for instance by effacings and/or reflections at the location of the receiver ~ntPnn~ Furthermore, a rehable signal tran.cmi~inn requires such a high signal strength that the radiograrn generated by a tr~ncmhtPr device is received not only by the directly adjacent and attributed receiver antenna but also by the other receiver ~ntPnn~C at the vehicle. Finally, it is expensive to provide each wheel with an attributed cornplete rece;ver.

Document DE-C2-36 05 097 is related to a device for the determination of values to be meas-ured at wheel sets of vehicles, in particular of airplanes. Regarding large airplanes the length of the connecting line between the sensor at the wheel and a central processmg unit effec~ng the evaluation may be up to 30 m; thus, the number of the lines should be as small as possible. A
ples~ule signal is fed into the connecting line by means of an adj~.st~ble tr~ncfnrmf r, the secon-dary winding thereof is attributed to a rotating tire portion and the primary winding thereof is attributed to an adj ~cPnt st~tion~ry tire portion. At a predetPrn~ed time an electric supply cur-rent is supplied only through one single connecting hne and the m~lring signal is tr~n~m~ted by said single line. In order to fuIther transmit also the brake temperature of a given wheel in ad-lition to the tire ples~ule the temperature signal is tr~ncm;tted through a "wrong" line which is not activated at that time. From this "wrong" hne the temperature signal is attributed back to the just activated wheel by means of a mllhiplelnng device. The known system does not provide a tPlPm-P~tric signal tr~n~mi~ion and the problem does not arise to make a ~PlPction from several pres~ule signals received from di~ wheels and which are ~imllh~neously fed to one receiver means.

Document DE-Al-42 05 911 discloses a device for monitoring the air plessule of pneurnatic-tiredvehicle wheeLs. The signalistransmitted im a tPlpmftric manner from each rotatmg wheelto, for instance, a central receiver. The pres~ulc; signals are provided with a characteristic i-lPntifira tion code for the respective wheeL The receiver device is provided with a memory wherein these i~lf~ntifir.ation codes are stored with respect to each wheeL The specific wheel is detP~ed by means of the identity of the t~lf .~ . ;r~lly transmitted and received idPntifiration code and the stored i-lPntifir,ation code. It is an object of the present invention to provide for a tire ples~ule monhoring device of lhe above mPntioned type a simply constructed receiver and evaluation means providing a reliable att~ibution of a radiogra_ to a specific ~,vheel transmi~ting said specific radiogram~ such that a driver ofthe vehicle may be informed about the measured values or the warnings being attributed to the correct wheel position.

The time pressu~e monitoring device according to the present invention requires on~ one single receiver means independent~ ofthe number ofthe receiving ~nt~nn~c at the vehicle. Even for a l;LBRE~LDOC

car having four active wheels and, thus, four receiving ~ntPnn~c arranged adjacently to each wheel at the vehicle structure, only one single receiver mean is required. Therefore, three re-ceiver means can be saved with respect to the predescribed known tire pres~ule monitoring de-vice according to DE-C2-39 30 479. ~n addition, the present invention ensures a reliable attribu-tion of a radiogram to the specific wheel tr~n~m ~ting just said radiogram by means of the iti-plexer-circuit.

During the time interval of a radiogram and subsequently to selecting the receiving antenna com-prising the highest field strength, several receiving ~nt~nn~c and preferably all receiving ~nt~nn~
may be switched into the receiving mode in order to receive the control signals of said radiogram by means of several, especially by all receivmg ~ntP.nn~C, thus providing a multi-path reception which ensures a high transmittjng rehability. The attributions between several radiograms and an attributed wheel position may be averaged during a longer time period comprising at least sev-eral sllcces~ive radiograms of a specific wheel, thus increasing a hit reli~biliLy ofattribution from radiogram to the subsequent radiogram(s).

Furthermore, this pler~lled embodiment of the present invention provides a simply constructed multi-path receiver means Pn~lring high transmitting rehabihty for said tire plessult; monhoring device.

In the following, the tire pressure mnnhoring device according to the present invention is de-scribed in more detaiL

The present invention mainly deals with means and devices of the receiving side of the vehicle.
The components of the transmitting side at the wheel such as signal generating devices, trans-mitting devices and the like may comprise known components. For example, these components of the transmiKmg side may be located at a tire valve as descnbed in docllm~nt~ DE-C2-39 30 479 or DE-C2-43 03 583. Fur~hermore, the components of the tr~n~m;~ ~itlg side may be located at a valve cap to be screwed on the valve tube of a conventional tire valve of a vehicle tire as desc~ibed in doc~ DE-C2-39 30 480 or DE-C2-43 03 591. Moreover, the components of the transmittmg side may also be fixed at the wheel rim of a vehicle tire as descnbed in other docnm~nt~ ~nportant is, that these components ofthe transmitting side generate at the rotating wheel ofthe vehicle a radiogram in form of a RF signal CO~li~g at least control signals which indicate the most important actual status data ofthe pneu_atic tire, here especia~y the actual tire pres~ule and, if desired, ~d~hil n~lly and optionally the tire temperature.

Typically, the radiogram co~ ises a modulated RF signal within the megahertz region (MHz), for example frequencies above 200 MHz, preferably frequencies of about 433 MHz or of about 900 M~, are well suited and may be used. Furthermore and preferably, the data to be transmit-ted tPlPmP3Tir~lly may be present in the form of digital data, thus Pn~blmg an amplitude modula-tion or a frequency modulation of the carrier frequency according to said digital data. A pre-ferred radiogram rnay co~lise in digital form about 60 to 80 bits. Such a radiogram rnay com-prise a syncl~lo~g code or signal having about 8 to 16 bits, an idPntifir~tion code or signal having typically 32 bits, the control signals having about 4 to 16 bits and a check digit. Typically, a tran~miC~inn of a radiogram of said type takes from about some microseconds up to some mil-hseconds. A preferabhy used transmitter means will transmit a radiogram conlmri~ about 80 bits within about 5 milli~conds.

A receiving antenna is attributed to each wheel CO~li~g its own transmitter means. This re-ceiving antenna is st~ti-n~rily mounted at the vehicle structure adj~c-Pnt to the att~ibuted wheel, for example in the region ofthe correspon&g wheel case. This receiving antenna is o~i~ed in a known manner in order to receive the fore-m-Pntioned RF signals of the wheel electronic means. The demolhll~tinn and the deco&g of these signals is p~formed by means of the re-ceiver means and the evaluation means. Preferably, the receiver means may be designed for a sensitivity from about minus 100 dBm to about minus 120 dBm.

The receiver means and the evaluation means may be disposed at a central location of the vehi-cle. This receiver means and evaluation means may be cornbined to one single unit and then in-cludes the actual receiver as well as an evaluation device in the form of a control device or in the form of a microprocessor; both, the control device and/or the microprocessor col-~. ;~s several switching devices (deco&g) and logical ~1 "~"l~ Further, these switching devices include a multiplexer-circuit. This unit may be arranged for PY~mrle in the luggage trunk of a vehicle.
Connecting hnes for the signal tran~;mittance connect this unit with an in~Llul~ panel or to the interface of a board computer ofthe vehicle. Accor&g to an ~h~rn~tive ernbodiment one single receiver means may be provided which is connected wi~h a spatially separated ev~hl~ti( n device by means of connecting ]ines.

According to an çc~nti~l feature ofthe present invention all receiving ~nt~nn~ are attributed to only one single receiver means. An own connecting hne leads from each receiving antenna (in the following: "anterma") to the receiver means. evaluated (for example by means of a microprocessor) in order to compensate such atten-lqhnnc which are caused by the equipment. Typically, with respect to the scope ofthe invention it is not required to provide amphfiers on the way from the antenna to the receiver means.
A switching means is inserted into each connecting line. Typically, switching times less than 1 microsecond are required; therefore, preferred switching means comprises diodes or transistors.
Each switching means is controlled by the multiplexer-circuit according to a time-controlled multiplex system in order to connect a specific antenna with the receiver means (turning-on) or to disconnect a specific anteDna from the receiver means (cutting of ~.

Multiplexer-circuits are known in the state of the art and need not to be described here in detaiL
A multiplexer-circuit which is particular~ suited for the present invention typically me1~ldes sev-eral switches and a conhrol unit for example hke a microprocessor in order to conhrol these switches in a suitable m~nner~ ~n conhrast to known rnultiplexer-circuits or mnh~ley switching boards which typically mqintqm only one single switch in the turning-on state per time interval, the present invention preferably uses a multiplexer-circuit which may ~ q.;.~ several switches or all the switches in the h~g-on state during a specific time intervaL

Basically, there are several possibilities of sr~qnnmg and regi~Prmg the field strength present at each antenna in order to select the one anteDna having the highest field strength per time intervaL
For this purpose, each antenna _ay for instance be conhrolled one after the other in the timecon-hrolled multiplex method, and the field strength present at each antenna may be determined, stored and co~alt;d to each other in order to deteImine that antenna having the highest field strengdL ~n this context the invention is not rectn~ted to a specific method of detennnfing the anteDna having the highest field strength.

Preferably, an adding method is used wherein two dilr~lc..l qnt~nnqc are ~mllhqneou~ly switched to one summing junction. ln this case, a so-ca~ed "diversity receiver" is formed, i e. the RF sig-nal is captured at two dilIel~l.l locations (qnt~nnqc). Besides the actual function of the wheel athibution~ this method provides the ad~lh;nnql advantage of a hi~her receiving rehability if a specific hrqncm;~ter is unfavorably positioned with respect to the antenna (field effiacing by reflec-tions). Tn this case the following functions may be reahzed by a suitable evaluation device which ~lises a microprocessor in ad.li1;-m to the summing junction, the receiver means and the multiplexer-circuit:

- Each antenna is scanned one after the other by means of the mukiplexer-circuit in the time-controlled mul~iplex method with respect to the field strength which is present at this specific ~nt~nn ~;

- if a field strength worth to be rece*ed is registered at a specific ~nt~nn~ this antenna is se-lected;

- in syncl~ n with each data bit, a further antenna ofthe residual ~nt~nn~c is connected with the rece*er means;

- at the sl-mm~gJunction a ~imlllt~neously fed RF power oftwo ~nt~nn~c is added;
- it is determined by a comparison ofthe field strengths ("A" and ("A + B")) which antenna (A
or B) cu~lises the highest field strength;

- with respect to the next bit period the stronger antenna (A or B) remains in the turning-on state as the selected ~nt~nn~;

- these steps are repeated for the further ~nt~.nn~c in order to fmally select that antenna compris-ing the highest field strength.

According to this method the rece*er means may approach to the maximum reception signal during each bit period without loosing any data bit since the reception con(litinn~ are improved with each s~l~ctinn Once, if the strongest antenna is determined the resulting wheel attrlbution may further be verified and corrected up to the last bit of a radiograr~ Preferably, each radio-gram may ad~ition~lly co~lise a charactPri~t~ ntifi~.2tinn code for each wheel and its tr~n~r device which may ad~ition~lly co~ ule to this further vPrifi.~ti~n Thus, the h~eh-hood of a misint~l~le~lion decreases from bit to bit within a radiogram and from one radiogram to the subsequent radiogram. As a result, a high hit rehability lega,~l;.,g the attribution of a radio-gram to the "tr~ncm;~ting wheel" is achieved by the means of a most simple s~ucture, by means of a small number of components and by a ". .;.~ nun~ber of radiograms.

The above ~ ed method of s~l~cting the antenna Co~li~g the highest field strength may be used during the entire dul~lioll of a radiogram. However and preferably, this selection is per-formed only during the ~lllr~tion of the syncl~on-~g signal of a radiogram. Such a synchroniz, ing signal may include for instance 8 to 16 bits at the starting phase of a radiogra~ This syn-cllroni~g sig~al does not yet comprise any data information regarding the control signals. Even g if some bits ofthe synclnolf~g signal are lost during the sP1~cting process, a correct wheel at-tribution may be achieved by evaluating said syncl~loni~g sig~aL In this case the decoding and evaluation of the control signals may be performed when the attribution of the radiogram to a specific wheel is finally established.

According to a fur~er advantageous ernbodiment of the present invention, once the attribution of a specific radiogram to its originnting wheel has been finally establi~hed, during the subsequent phase of this radiogram all the ~nt~nn~c may ci~ h~neously connected to the receiver means especially during the subsequent deco&g and evaluation of the le~ g parts of this radio-gram, particularly during the decoding and evaluation of the control signals. This kind of switching and controlling mode substan~ally increases the transmitting reliabil~y because possi-ble signal effacing effected at one antenna due to the wheel rotation or the like is compensated by an undisturbed reception ofthe same radiogram at one or more other ~ntPnnn(s).

Thus, and according to a preferred ernbodiment ofthe present invention, the multiplexer-circuit may set only one single switch or only a limited number, for example two switches into the con-necting state (turning-on state) during a predet~ed time interval during the reception of a radiogram for the purpose of i-lPntifi~til n (sPl~cting the antenna of highest field strength) and ~Ul~u~illg a specific radiogram to its origin~ting wheel and may set later on several switches or a~the switches ~ln -h~neously into the connecting state at least during the reception ofthe con-trol sig~als ofthe same radiogram.

For instance, it may be provided that the multiplexer-circuit - tr~n~fPrring several switches or all switches into the on-state before a radiogram has been received;

- continuously tr~n~fPrring one switch after the other into the ostate subsequently to receiv-ing a radiogram and especially during the ev~h~tirn of its synclllo~g signal until the an-tenna with the strongest RF signal has been determined; and - then tr~ncfprnn~ several switches or all switches into the on-state during the reception ofthe control sign~l of this radiogram in order to thereby achieve a multi-path reception of this control signal through several ~ntPnn~

According to an altPm~tive controlling and switching mode it may be provided that the muki-plexer-circuit transfers only one single switch or only two switches one after the other into the on-state during the tr~n~miC~r)n of a syn.Lon~g signal of a specific radiogram, and that the multiplexer-circuit transfers several switches or all switches into the on-state during the subse-quent tr~n~ ion of the control signal of the same radiogram in order to thereby achieve a multi-path reception ofthis control signal through several ~ntPnn~c The drawing shows a switching diagram of a muki-path receiver assembly according to a pre-ferred ernbodiment of the present invention. This drawing and the following example serve for further explqn~tinn ofthe present invention and may be no means construed to hmitate the scope ofthe present invention.

A receiver means and evaluation device according to a pl~r~lled embodiment ofthe present in-vention may for example comprise an assembly as shown in the switching diagram of the draw-ing. For a passenger car Co~li~g four active wheels, four receiving ~ntPnn~ A, B, C, N being provided. From each antenna A, B, C, N one connecting ]ine a, b, c, n leads to a summing Junc-tion S. Into each connecting line a, b, c, n a diode acting as a switch or a transistor acting as a switch being inselted. The receiver means and the evaluation device is provided with a microcon-troller equipped with an input mukiplexer-circuit. From the microcontroller several control hnes a', b', c', n' lead to the attn~uted connecting hne a, b, c, n in order to control the corresponding switch and to transfer one switch or more switches into the off-state or into the on-state. Thus, the microcontroller may record which antenna is switched on the summing junction during a specific time intervaL Ihe summing junction is connected with the receiver means via a f~ter.
The receiver means does not only demodulate the radiogram but does also sense the field strength which is present at the summing junction during a specific time intervaL The field strength initially determined in analogous form is converted into a digital field strength signal by means of an analog-digital converter and is supplied to the microcontroller for evaluation pur-poses. After a corresponding demodlllqtion aLso the control sig~als are supphed to the microcon-troller through a data signal hne, and the control signals being evaluated.

Claims (27)

1. A tire pressure monitoring device for a vehicle having several wheels wherein each wheel is provided with a pneumatic tire, comprising:
- a signal generating device at each wheel sensing the air pressure within the pneumatic tire and, if desired, additionally the tire temperature and providing corresponding elec-tric pressure signals and optionally temperature signals;
- each a receiving antenna (A, B, C ... N) per wheel arranged stationarily at the vehicle structure adjacent to the attributed wheel;
- a transmitter means at each wheel generating a radiogram comprising at least control signals corresponding to the electric pressure signals and optionally control signals cor-responding to the electric temperature signal for telemetric transmission of said radio-gram to said receiving antennas;
- a central evaluation means at the vehicle for evaluating the radiograms in order to pro-vide a vehicle driver with informations regarding the condition of the different tires;
wherein - all said receiving antennas (A, B, C, ... N) being connected via each a distinctive con-necting line (a, b, c, ... n) with a single receiver means being coupled with said evalua-tion device;
- said receiver means comprises a multiplexer-circuit connecting per time interval only one single selected receiving antenna or several selected receiving antennas with said receiving means;
- further, said receiver means sensing a field strength of each specific radiogram and thus selecting said specific receiving antenna comprising the highest field strength of a re-ceived radiogram during said specific time interval; and - thus enabling the central evaluation means to attribute a specific radiogram to said specific wheel being arranged adjacent to said receiving antenna comprising the highest field strength of a received radiogram during said specific time interval.
2. The tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 1, wherein the radiogram is an RF signal modulated with a digital signal comprising at least a syn-chronizing signal and at least a control signal and optionally comprising an identification code or signal and/or a check digit; and the receiving antennas (A, B, C, ... N) and the receiver means being designed for the re-ception of said RF signals; and the evaluation device being designed for the evaluation of said digital signals.
3. The tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 2, wherein the evaluation of the field strengths sensed by the receiver means and the selection of the specific receiving antenna (A, B, C, ... N) having the highest field strength is performed by means of said synchronizing signal.
4. The tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 1, wherein each a switch means being inserted into each connecting line (a, b, c, ... n); and these switch means being actuated by said multiplexer-circuit according to a time-controlled multiplex method.
5. The tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 4, wherein said multiplexer-circuit maintaining only one single switch means or only two switch means in the on-state at a given time interval of the reception of a radiogram, and later on transferring and maintaining simultaneously several switch means or all switch means into the on-state during the reception of the same radiogram.
6. The tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 5, wherein said multiplexer-circuit - transfers several switch means or all switch means into the on-state before a radiogram has been received;
- continuously transfers one switch means after the other into the off-state after the arri-val of a radiogram and during the evaluation of its synchronizing signal until the receiv-ing antenna comprising the strongest RF signal has been determined; and - then transfers several switch means or all switch means into the on-state during the sub-sequent reception of the control signal of this same radiogram in order to provide a multi-path reception of this control signal by means of several receiving antennas (A, B, C, ... N).
7. The tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 5, wherein the multiplexer-circuit - transfers one after the other only one single switch means or only two switch means into the on-state during the reception of a synchronizing signal of a radiogram until the receiving antenna comprising the strongest RF signal has be determined; and - then transfers several switch means or an switch means into the on-state during the sub-sequent reception of the control signal of this same radiogram in order to provide a multi-path reception of this control signal by means of several receiving antennas (A, B, C, ... N).
8. The tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 4, wherein each switch means comprising a diode means.
9. The tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 4, wherein each switch means comprising a transistor means.
10. The tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 4, wherein each connecting line (a, b, c, ... n) being connected to a common summing junction (S) behind each switch means.
11. The tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 10, wherein the field strengths formed at the summing junction (S) being submitted to the receiver means; and the field strength present at the receiver means being converted into a digital field strength signal by means of an analog-digital converter.
12. The tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 1, wherein said evaluation device comprising a microprocessor in addition to the summing junction (S) to the receiver means and the multiplexer-circuit, and performing the following func-tions:

- each antenna (A, B, C, ... N) is scanned one after the other by means of the multiplexer-circuit in a time-controlled multiplex method with respect to the field strength present at a specific receiving antenna (A, B, C, ... N);
- if a field strength worth to be received is registered at a specific receiving antenna, this receiving antenna (for example A) being selected;
- in synchronization with each data bit, a further antenna of the residual receiving anten-nas (B, C, ... or N) being connected with the receiver means;
- at the summing junction (S) a simultaneously fed RF power of two receiving antennas (for example A + B) being added;
- it is determined by a comparison of the field strengths ("A" with ("A + B")) which re-ceiving antenna (A or B) comprises the highest field strength;
- with respect to the next bit period the stronger receiving antenna (A or B) remains in the turning-on state as the selected receiving antenna;
- these steps are repeated for the other receiving antennas (C, ... N) in order to finally select that specific receiving antenna comprising the highest field strength.
13. The tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 2, wherein the synchronizing signal comprising about 8 to 16 bits.
14. A multi-path receiver for use with a tire pressure monitoring device according to claim 1, comprising:
- a number of receiving antennas (A, B, C, ... N) wherein each receiving antenna being arranged stationarily at the vehicle structure adjacent to at least each active wheel and thus attributed to said specific wheel;
- all said receiving antennas (A, B, C, ... N) being connected via each a distinctive con-necting line (a, b, c, ... n) with a single receiver means;
- said receiver means comprises a multiplexer-circuit connecting per time interval only one single selected receiving antenna or several selected receiving antennas with said receiver means;
- further, said receiver means sensing a field strength of each specific radiogram and thus selecting said specific receiving antenna comprising the highest field strength of a re-ceived radiogram during said specific time interval; and - thus enabling said central evaluation means to attribute a specific radiogram to said specific wheel being arranged adjacent to said receiving antenna comprising the highest field strength of a received radiogram during said specific time interval.
15. The multi-path receiver according to claim 14, wherein the radiogram is an RF signal modulated with a digital signal comprising at least a syn-chronizing signal and at least a control signal, and optionally comprising an identification code or signal and/or a check digit; and the receiving antennas (A, B, C, ... N) and the receiver means being designed for the re-ception of said RF signals; and the evaluation device being designed for the evaluation of said digital signals.
16. The multi-path receiver according to claim 15, wherein the evaluation of the field strengths sensed by the receiver means and the selection of the specific receiving antenna (A, B, C, ... N) having the highest field strength is performed by means of said synchronizing signal.
17. The multi-path receiver according to claim 14, wherein each a switch means being inserted into each connecting line (a, b, c, ... n); and these switch means being actuated by said multiplexer-circuit according to a time-controlled multiplex method.
18. The multi-path receiver according to claim 17, wherein said multiplexer-circuit maintaining only one single switch means or only two switch means in the on-state at a given time interval of the reception of a radiogram, and later on transferring and maintaining simultaneously several switch means or all switch means into the on-state during the reception of the same radiogram.
19. The multi-path receiver according to claim 18, wherein said multiplexer-circuit - transfers several switch means or all switch means into the on-state before a radiogram has been received;
- continuously transfers one switch means after the other into the off-state after the arri-val of a radiogram and during the evaluation of its synchronizing signal until the receiv-ing antenna comprising the strongest RF signal has been determined; and - then transfers several switch means or all switch means into the on-gate during the sub-sequent reception of the control signal of this same radiogram in order to provide a multi-path reception of this control signal by means of several receiving antennas (A, B, C, ... N).
20. The multi-path receiver according to claim 18, wherein the multiplexer-circuit - transfers one after the other only one single switch means or only two switch means into the on-gate during the reception of a synchronizing signal of a radiogram until the receiving antenna comprising the strongest RF signal has be determined; and - then transfers several switch means or all switch means into the on-gate during the sub-sequent reception of the control signal of this same radiogram in order to provide a multi-path reception of this control signal by means of several receiving antennas (A, B, C, ... N).
21. The multi-path receiver according to claim 17, wherein each switch means comprising a diode means.
22. The multi-path receiver according to claim 17, wherein each switch means comprising a transistor means.
23. The multi-path receiver according to claim 17, wherein each connecting line (a, b, c, ... n) being connected to a common summing junction (S) behind each switch means.
24. The multi-path receiver according to claim 23, wherein the field strengths formed at the summing junction (S) being submitted to the receiver means; and the field strength present at the receiver means being converted into a digital field strength signal by means of an analog-digital converter.
25. The multi-path receiver according to claim 14, wherein said evaluation device comprising a microprocessor in addition to the summing junction (S) to the receiver means and the multiplexer-circuit, and performing the following func-tions:
- each antenna (A, B, C, ... N) is scanned one after the other by means of the multiplexer-circuit in a time-controlled multiplex method with respect to the field strength present at a specific receiving antenna (A, B, C, ... N);
- if a field strength worth to be received is registered at a specific receiving antenna, this receiving antenna (for example A) being selected;
- in synchronization with each data bit, a further antenna of the residual receiving anten-nas (B, C, ... or N) being connected with the receiver means;
- at the summing junction (S) a simultaneously fed RF power of two receiving antennas (for example A + B) being added;
- it is determined by a comparison of the field strengths ("A" with ("A + B")) which re-ceiving antenna (A or B) comprises the highest field strength;
- with respect to the next bit period the stronger receiving antenna (A or B) remains in the turning-on state as the selected receiving antennas;
- these steps are repeated for the other receiving antennas (C, ... N) in order to finally select that specific receiving antenna comprising the highest field strength.
26. The multi-path receiver according to claim 15, wherein the synchronizing signal comprising about 8 to 16 bits.
27. Multi-path receiver according to claim 14, wherein the receiver means comprising four receiver antennas (A, B, C, ... N); and each of these receiving antennas being attributed to an active wheel of a car.
