Abstract
A process and apparatus for completing a subterranean well bore in at least one subterranean formation (6).
At least one perforating gun assembly (20) is positioned on the outside casing (12) in a subterranean well bore.
A suitable signal, such as a hydraulic, electric or wave signal, is transported to the perforating gun assembly so as to detonate one or more explosive charges (30) in the perforating gun assembly (20) which are aimed toward the casing (12). At least one wall in the casing (12) is perforated thereby establishing fluid communication through the wall of the casing (12). Usually, cement (17) surrounding the casing (12) and a subterranean formation (6) surrounding the casing (12) are also perforated to establish fluid communication between the formation and the interior of the casing (12). A logging tool may be positioned exterior to the casing (12). In one embodiment, multiple perforating gun assemblies (20) are located outside the casing (12) and juxtaposed to multiple subterranean formations (6) of interest.
At least one perforating gun assembly (20) is positioned on the outside casing (12) in a subterranean well bore.
A suitable signal, such as a hydraulic, electric or wave signal, is transported to the perforating gun assembly so as to detonate one or more explosive charges (30) in the perforating gun assembly (20) which are aimed toward the casing (12). At least one wall in the casing (12) is perforated thereby establishing fluid communication through the wall of the casing (12). Usually, cement (17) surrounding the casing (12) and a subterranean formation (6) surrounding the casing (12) are also perforated to establish fluid communication between the formation and the interior of the casing (12). A logging tool may be positioned exterior to the casing (12). In one embodiment, multiple perforating gun assemblies (20) are located outside the casing (12) and juxtaposed to multiple subterranean formations (6) of interest.
