Abstract
A system of multimedia display on a monitor screen includes at lest one graphics source, a display file defining a page having a plurality of button s, where each button has a set of properties including a specification of a graphics source. The system further includes a graphics controller operable to generate a pixel map, and a graphics arbitrator coupled to the graphics controller operable to select pixels between the pixel map and pixels from t he at least one graphics source to be displayed for the page according to the display file.
Claims (26)
1. A system of multimedia display on a monitor screen, comprising:
one or more graphics sources (14; 16-19; 4042);
at least one display file (50) defining a page having one or more buttons, each button having a set of properties;
a graphics controller (62) operable to generate a pixel map and one or more pixel color keys; and a graphics arbitrator (46) coupled to the graphics controller (62) and to the graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42), said graphics arbitrator (46) brine operable for receiving (154) and examining (156) a pixel generated by said graphics controller (62), and for selecting (158) noel displaying (164) the pixel itself when its color value does not correspond to any of said pixel color keys, or, when its color value corresponds no a given one of said pixel color keys, selecting (158, 160) and displaying (164) a pixel provided by one of the graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42) specified by the given pixel color key.

a graphics controller (62) operable to generate a pixel map and one or more pixel color keys; and a graphics arbitrator (46) coupled to the graphics controller (62) and to the graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42), said graphics arbitrator (46) brine operable for receiving (154) and examining (156) a pixel generated by said graphics controller (62), and for selecting (158) noel displaying (164) the pixel itself when its color value does not correspond to any of said pixel color keys, or, when its color value corresponds no a given one of said pixel color keys, selecting (158, 160) and displaying (164) a pixel provided by one of the graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42) specified by the given pixel color key.
2. The system, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the button properties further comprises:
location of the button on the screen; and size of the button.

3. The system, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the at least one graphics source comprises a video cassette recorder (17).
4. The system, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the at least one graphics source comprises a camera (19).
5. The system, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the at least one graphics source comprises a television signal receiver.
6. The system, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the at least one graphics source comprises a computer (18).
7. The system, as set forth is claim 1, further comprising a control area network (30) coupled to a display interface (12), the display interface including the at least one display file (50), the graphics controller (62), and the graphics arbitrator (46).
8. The system, as set forth in claim 7, wherein the control area network comprises:
a master controller (28);
at least one control device (32);
at least one graphics source;
a network coupled to the master controller, the at least one control device, the at least one graphics source, and the display interface.

9. The system, as set forth in claim 1, further comprising an editor operable to edit the button properties.
10. A control area network (30) having a multimedia display, comprising:
a master controller (28) coupled to the control area network (30);
at least one control device (32) coupled to the master controller (28) via the control area network (30), the control area network (30) coupled to a display interface (12), the display interface (12) comprising:
one or more graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42);
at least one display file (50) defining a page having one or more buttons, each button having a set of properties;
a graphics controller (62) operable to generate a pixel map and one or more pixel color keys; and a graphics arbitrator (46) coupled to the graphics controller (62) and to the graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42), said graphics arbitrator (46) being operable for receiving (154) and examining (156) a pixel generated by said graphics controller (62), and for selecting (158) and displaying (164) the pixel itself when its color value does not correspond to any of said pixel color keys, or, when its color value corresponds to a given one of said pixel color keys, selecting (158, 160) and displaying (164) a pixel provided by one of the graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42) specified by the given pixel color key.
a master controller (28) coupled to the control area network (30);
at least one control device (32) coupled to the master controller (28) via the control area network (30), the control area network (30) coupled to a display interface (12), the display interface (12) comprising:
one or more graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42);
at least one display file (50) defining a page having one or more buttons, each button having a set of properties;
a graphics controller (62) operable to generate a pixel map and one or more pixel color keys; and a graphics arbitrator (46) coupled to the graphics controller (62) and to the graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42), said graphics arbitrator (46) being operable for receiving (154) and examining (156) a pixel generated by said graphics controller (62), and for selecting (158) and displaying (164) the pixel itself when its color value does not correspond to any of said pixel color keys, or, when its color value corresponds to a given one of said pixel color keys, selecting (158, 160) and displaying (164) a pixel provided by one of the graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42) specified by the given pixel color key.
11. The system, as set forth in claim 10, wherein the button properties further comprises:
location of a respective button on the screen; and size of the respective button.

12. The system, as set forth is claim 10, wherein the one or more graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42) comprise a video cassette recorder (17).
13. The system, as set forth in claim 10, wherein the one or more graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42) comprise a camera (19).
14. The system, as set forth in claim 10, wherein the one or more graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42) comprise a television signal receiver.
15. The system, as set forth in claim 10, wherein the one or more graphics sources (14; 16-19; 40-42) comprise a computer (18).
16. The system, as set forth in claim 10, further comprising an editor operable to edit the button properties.
17. The system as set forth in claim 10, wherein the monitor is a touch panel.
18. A method of multimedia display on a monitor screen, comprising:
composing a display file (50) describing one or more buttons, each button having a set of properties;
receiving a pixel map generated according to the display file;
examining a pixel (156) of the pixel map; and determining if the examined pixel is a pixel key color (158).

19. The method, as set forth in claim 18, wherein examining the pixel (156) comprises determining whether the examined pixel has a predetermined key color value (158), each key color value indicative of a specific graphics source.
20. The method, as set forth in claim 18, further comprising outputting the examined pixel to a monitor screen for display.

22. The method, as set forth in claim 18, wherein the monitor screen is a touch monitor screen.

26. The method, as set forth in claim 18, further comprising outputting a pixel from a graphics source (162) upon determination that examined pixel is a pixel key color, the graphics source assigned to the pixel key color.
