Abstract

Devices and methods provide accurate targeting, placement, and/or stabilization of an electrode or other instrument(s) into the brain or other body organ, such as to treat severe tremor or other neurological disorders. Targeting is performed using any form of image-guidance, including real-time MRI, CT, or frameless surgical navigation systems.

adjusting an angle between the trajectory axis and the portal normal axis by pivoting an arcuate portion of the guide lumen carrying assembly with respect to the base; and adjusting the angle between the trajectory axis and the portal normal axis by sliding a portion of the guide lumen carrying assembly along the arcuate portion of the guide lumen carrying assembly.
76. The method of claim 75, further including spherically adjusting the guide lumen with respect to the arcuate portion of the guide lumen carrying assembly.
77. The method of claim 75, further including introducing a primary device along the trajectory axis.
