Abstract
One method includes applying to a post-manufactured textile material a liquid composition resulting from a combination of ingredients. The ingredients include one or more anti-fading compounds, one or more anti-soiling compounds, one or more silicon-based compounds, and one or more carrying media. One composition is a liquid composition resulting from a combination of ingredients, with the ingredients including a benzotriazole, a fluorocarbon, an organosiloxane, and odorless mineral spirits.
Claims (54)
1. A method far improving light-fade resistance, soil repellency, and water repellency of a surface of a textile material, comprising:
providing a composition for applying to a surface of a textile material, the composition comprising:
one or more anti-fading compounds;
one or more anti-soiling compounds, one or more water-repellant compounds, and one or more carrier media; and directly applying the composition to the surface of the textile material to improve tight-fade resistance, soil repellency, and water repellency thereof, the applying being performed exclusive of a laundering process and a dry cleaning process.
providing a composition for applying to a surface of a textile material, the composition comprising:
one or more anti-fading compounds;
one or more anti-soiling compounds, one or more water-repellant compounds, and one or more carrier media; and directly applying the composition to the surface of the textile material to improve tight-fade resistance, soil repellency, and water repellency thereof, the applying being performed exclusive of a laundering process and a dry cleaning process.
2. The method of claim 1 further including air drying the textile material comprising the composition to form a coating thereon.
3. The method of claim 1 wherein the directly applying step comprises directly applying the composition to the surface of the textile material at an ambient temperature.
4. The method of claim 1 wherein the textile material is selected from the group consisting of upholstery, a panel of a panel system; a window treatment, a wall covering, a rug, a mat, carpeting, a seat cover, a boat cover, an automobile cover, a fabric of outdoor furniture, a fabric of a hammock, a. fabric of a tent, a fabric of a sleeping bag, an awning, a fabric of an umbrella, and an automotive headliner.
5. The method of claim 1 wherein the surface of the textile material includes leather.
6. The method of claim 1 wherein the one or more anti-fading compounds represent at least about 0.5% by weight of the composition.
7. The method of claim 1 wherein the directly applying step includes spraying or brushing the composition auto the surface of the textile material.
8. The method of claim 1 wherein the one or more anti-fading compounds include a benzotriazole, the one or more anti-soiling compounds include a fluorocarbon, the one or more water-repellant compounds include a silicon-based polymer, and the one or more carrier media includes an aliphatic petroleum naphtha.
9. The method of claim 8 wherein the aliphatic petroleum naphtha is mineral spirits.
10. The method of claim 1 wherein the composition further includes a fragrance.
11. The method of claim 1 wherein the one or more anti-fading compounds represent from about 0.01 % to about 15% by weight of the composition.
12. The method of claim 1 wherein the one or more anti-soiling compounds represent from about 0.01 % to about 12% by weight of the composition.
13. The method of claim 1 wherein the silicon-based polymer represents from about 0.01% to about 25% by weight of the composition.
14, A method for improving light-fade resistance and soil repellency of a surface of a textile material, comprising the step of:
providing a composition for applying to a surface of a textile material, the composition comprising:
one or more anti-fading compounds;
one or more anti-soiling compounds; and one or more carrier media; and directly applying the composition to the surface of the textile material to improve light-fade resistance and soil repellency thereof, the applying being performed exclusive of a laundering process and a dry cleaning process.
providing a composition for applying to a surface of a textile material, the composition comprising:
one or more anti-fading compounds;
one or more anti-soiling compounds; and one or more carrier media; and directly applying the composition to the surface of the textile material to improve light-fade resistance and soil repellency thereof, the applying being performed exclusive of a laundering process and a dry cleaning process.
15. The method of claim 14 further including air drying the textile material comprising the composition to form a coating thereon.
16. The method of claim 14 wherein the directly applying step comprises directly applying the composition to the surface of the textile material at an ambient temperature.
17. The method of claim 14 wherein the textile material is selected from the group consisting of upholstery, a panel of a panel system, a window treatment, a wall covering, a rug, a mat, carpeting, a seat cover, a boat cover, an automobile cover, a fabric of outdoor furniture, a fabric of a hammock, a fabric of a tent, a fabric of a sleeping bag, an awning, a fabric of an umbrella, and an automotive headliner.
18. The method of claim 14 wherein the anti-fading compound includes benzotriazole, the anti-soiling compound includes a fluorocarbon, and the carrier media includes an aliphatic petroleum naphtha.
19. The method of claim 18 wherein the aliphatic petroleum naphtha is mineral spirits.
20. The method of claim 14 wherein the anti-fading compound includes benzotriazole, the anit-soiling compound includes a fluorocarbon, and the carrier media includes a combination of alcohol and water.
21. The method of claim 20 wherein the alcohol is isopropyl alcohol.
22. The method of claim 14 wherein the anti-fading compound represents from about 0.01% to about 15% by weight of the composition
23. The method of claim 14 wherein the anti-soil compound represents from about 0.01% to about 12% by weight of the composition.
24. The method of claim 14 wherein the composition further includes a fragrance.
25. The method of claim 14 wherein the directly applying step includes spraying or brushing the composition onto the surface of the textile material.
26. A method for improving light-fade resistance and water repellency of a surface of a textile material, comprising the step of:
providing a composition for applying to a surface of a textile material, the composition comprising:
one or more anti-fading compounds;
one or more water-repellent compounds, and one or more carrier media; and directly applying the composition to the surface of the textile material to improve light-fade resistance and water repellency thereof, the applying being performed exclusive of a laundering process and a dry cleaning process.
providing a composition for applying to a surface of a textile material, the composition comprising:
one or more anti-fading compounds;
one or more water-repellent compounds, and one or more carrier media; and directly applying the composition to the surface of the textile material to improve light-fade resistance and water repellency thereof, the applying being performed exclusive of a laundering process and a dry cleaning process.
27. The method of claim 26 further including air drying the textile material comprising the composition to form a coating thereon.
28. The method of claim 26 wherein the directly applying step comprises directly applying the composition to the surface of the textile material at an ambient temperature.
29. The method of claim 26 wherein the textile material is selected from the group consisting of upholstery, a panel of a panel system, a window treatment, a wall covering, a rug, a mat, carpeting, a seat cover, a boat cover, an automobile cover, a fabric of outdoor furniture, a fabric of a hammock, a fabric of a tent, a fabric of a sleeping bag, an awning, a fabric of an umbrella, and an automotive headliner.
30. The method of claim 26 wherein the anti-fading compound includes a benzatriazole, the one or mare water-repellant compounds include a silicon-based polymer, and the carrier media includes an aliphatic petroleum naphtha.
31. The method of claim 30 wherein the aliphatic petroleum naphtha is mineral spirits.
32. The method of claim 26 wherein the anti-fading compound represents from about 0.01% to about 15% by weight of the composition and the water-repellant compound represents from about 0.01% to about 25% by weight of the composition.
33. The method of claim 26 wherein the composition further includes a fragrance.
34. The method of claim 26 wherein the directly applying step includes spraying or brushing the composition onto the surface of the textile material.
35. A composition for improving light-fade resistance; soil repellence, and water repellence of a surface of a textile material, the composition comprising:
one or more anti-fading compounds chosen from benzotriazoles, benzotriazines, benzophenones, triazines, succinimides, dioic acids, benzoxyoxazin-ones, dibenzoylmethanes, phenylbenzimidazoles, benzoic acids, esters of benzoic acid, esters of cinnamic acid, esters of 2-cyano-3, 3-diphenyl-2-propanoic acid, esters of salicylic acid, or combinations thereof;
one or more anti-soiling compounds;
one or more water-repellant compounds, and one or more carrier media chosen from an alcohol, an aliphatic petroleum naphtha, water, or combinations thereof.
one or more anti-fading compounds chosen from benzotriazoles, benzotriazines, benzophenones, triazines, succinimides, dioic acids, benzoxyoxazin-ones, dibenzoylmethanes, phenylbenzimidazoles, benzoic acids, esters of benzoic acid, esters of cinnamic acid, esters of 2-cyano-3, 3-diphenyl-2-propanoic acid, esters of salicylic acid, or combinations thereof;
one or more anti-soiling compounds;
one or more water-repellant compounds, and one or more carrier media chosen from an alcohol, an aliphatic petroleum naphtha, water, or combinations thereof.
36. The composition of claim 35 wherein the one or more anti-fading compounds is a benzotriazole, the one or more anti-soiling compounds include a fluorocarbon, the one or more water-repellant compounds include a silicon-based polymer, and the one or more carrier media is an aliphatic petroleum naphtha.
37. The composition of claim 36 wherein the aliphatic petroleum naphtha is mineral spirits.
38. The composition of claim 35 wherein the one or more anti-fading compounds represent at least about 0.5% by weight of the composition.
39. The composition of claim 35 wherein the composition further includes a fragrance.
40. The composition of claim 35 wherein the one or more anti-fading compounds represent from about 0.01% to about 15% by weight of the composition.
41. The composition of claim 35 wherein the one or more anti-soiling compounds represent from about 0.01% to about 12% by weight of the composition.
42. The composition of claim 35 wherein the water-repellant compounds represents from about 0.01% to about 25% by weight of the composition.
43. A composition for improving light-fade resistance and soil repellence of a surface of a textile material, the composition comprising:
one or more anti-fading compounds chosen from benzotriazoles, benzotriazines, benzophenones, triazines, succinimides, dioic acids, benzoxyoxazin-ones, dibenzoylmethanes, phenylbenzimidazoles, benzoic acids, esters of benzoic acid, esters of cinnamic acid, esters of 2-cyano-3, 3-diphenyl-2-propanoic acid, esters of salicylic acid, or combinations thereof;
one or more anti-soiling compounds including a fluorochemical; and one or more carrier media chosen from an alcohol, an aliphatic petroleum naphtha, water, or combinations, thereof.
one or more anti-fading compounds chosen from benzotriazoles, benzotriazines, benzophenones, triazines, succinimides, dioic acids, benzoxyoxazin-ones, dibenzoylmethanes, phenylbenzimidazoles, benzoic acids, esters of benzoic acid, esters of cinnamic acid, esters of 2-cyano-3, 3-diphenyl-2-propanoic acid, esters of salicylic acid, or combinations thereof;
one or more anti-soiling compounds including a fluorochemical; and one or more carrier media chosen from an alcohol, an aliphatic petroleum naphtha, water, or combinations, thereof.
44. The composition of claim 43 wherein the anti-fading compound is benzatriazole, the fluorochemical is a fluorocarbon, and the carrier media is an aliphatic petroleum naphtha.
45. The composition of claim 44 wherein the aliphatic petroleum naphtha is mineral spirits.
46. The composition of claim 43 wherein the anti-fading compound is benzotriazole, the fluorochemical is a fluorocarbon, and the carrier media is a combination of alcohol and water.
47. The composition of claim 46 wherein the alcohol is isopropyl alcohol.
48. The composition of claim 43 wherein the anti-fading compound represents from about 0.01% to about 15% by weight of the composition and the anti-soil compound represents from about 0.01% to about 12% by weight of the composition.
49, The composition of claim 43 wherein the composition further includes a fragrance.
50. A composition for improving light-fade resistance and water repellence of a surface of a textile material, the composition comprising:
one or more anti-fading compounds chosen from benzotriazoles, benzotriazines, benzophenones, triazines, succinimides, dioic acids, benzoxyoxazin-ones, dibenzoylmethanes, phenylbenzimidazoles, benzoic acids, esters of benzoic acid, esters of cinnamic acid, esters of 2-cyano-3, 3-diphenyl-2-propanoic acid, esters of salicylic acid, or combinations thereof;
one or more water-repellent compounds, and one or more carrier media chosen from an alcohol, an aliphatic petroleum naphtha, water, or combinations thereof.
one or more anti-fading compounds chosen from benzotriazoles, benzotriazines, benzophenones, triazines, succinimides, dioic acids, benzoxyoxazin-ones, dibenzoylmethanes, phenylbenzimidazoles, benzoic acids, esters of benzoic acid, esters of cinnamic acid, esters of 2-cyano-3, 3-diphenyl-2-propanoic acid, esters of salicylic acid, or combinations thereof;
one or more water-repellent compounds, and one or more carrier media chosen from an alcohol, an aliphatic petroleum naphtha, water, or combinations thereof.
51. The composition of claim 50 wherein the anti-fading compound is a benzotriazole, the one or more water-repellent compounds include a silicon-based polymer, and the carrier media is an aliphatic petroleum naphtha.
52. The composition of claim 51 wherein the aliphatic petroleum naphtha is mineral spirits.
53. The composition of claim 50 wherein the anti-fading compound represents from about 0.01 % to about 15% by weight of the composition and the silicon-based polymer represents from about 0.01 % to about 25% by weight of the composition.
54. The composition of claim 50 wherein the composition further includes a fragrance.
