Abstract
Processing link information related to traffic and travel information, in which link information is received including a link identification value associated with a particular link, a link identifier component enabling a determination of a link system to be employed in identifying the particular link referenced by the received traffic information, and a location type information component enabling a determination of a link location type of the particular link. Based upon the received information, a link system to be used to identify the particular link is determined. In addition, the link location type and the link identification are determined.
Claims (17)
- [1] A method for identifying at least one link, comprising:
receiving link information including:
a link identification value associated with a particular link, a link identifier component enabling a determination of a link system to be employed in identifying the particular link referenced by the received traffic in-formation, and a location type information component enabling a determination of a link location type of the particular link;
determining, based upon the link identifier component, a link system to be used to identify the particular link;
identifying, based upon the determined link system and the link identification value, the particular link from the received link information;
determining, based upon the location type information, the link location type of the particular link; and associating, based on identification of the particular link, the determined link location type with the particular link referenced by the link identification value. - [2] The method of claim 1 wherein:
the link identifier component includes a link system identifier value, and determining a link system to be used to identify the particular link includes comparing the link system identifier value with an entry in a link system look-up table. - [3] The method of claim 1 wherein:
the location type component includes a location type identifier value, and determining the link location type of the particular link includes comparing the location type identifier value with an entry in a location type look-up table. - [4] The method of claim 1 wherein:
the link system is a reference string-based link system, the link identification value is indicative of a reference string, and identifying the particular link from the received link information is further based upon the reference string. - [5] The method of claim 1, wherein the link information further includes a link descriptor string value associated with the particular link, and a link descriptor component, the link descriptor component enabling a determination of a link descriptor type to be employed in identifying the link descriptor.
- [6] The method of claim 5 further comprising:
determining, based upon the link descriptor component, a link descriptor type to be employed to identify links;
identifying, based upon the determined link descriptor type and the link descrip tor string, the particular link descriptor from the received traffic information. - [7] The method of claim 1 wherein:
identifying the particular link from the received link information includes comparing the link identification value with an entry in a link identification look-up table. - [8] The method of claim 7, wherein the particular link is associated with a pre-determined link identification value in the link identification look-up table.
- [9] The method of claim 7, wherein link identification value is unique to the particular link.
- [10] The method of claim 7, wherein identifying the particular link from the received traffic information further includes storing an entry in the link identification look-up table.
- [11] An apparatus for identifying information for at least one link, the apparatus comprising:
a receiving device configured to receive link information including:
a link identification value associated with a particular link, a link identifier component enabling a determination of a link system to be employed in identifying the particular link referenced by the received traffic in-formation, and a location type information component enabling a determination of a link location type of the particular link; and a processing device configured to:
determine, based upon the link identifier component, a link system to be used to identify the particular link, identify, based upon the determined link system and the link identification value, the particular link from the received link information;
determine, based upon the location type information, the link location type of the particular link; and associate, based on identification of the particular link, the determined link location type with the particular link referenced by the link identification value. - [12] The apparatus of claim 11 wherein:
the receiving device is configured to receive a link system identifier value, and the processing device is configured to compare the link system identifier value with an entry in a link system look-up table. - [13] The apparatus of claim 11 wherein:
the receiving device is configured to receive a location type identifier value, and the processing device is configured to compare the location type identifier value with an entry in a location type look-up table. - [14] The apparatus of claim 11 wherein the link system is a reference string-based link system and the link identification value is indicative of a reference string, the processing device is further configured to:
identify the particular link from the received link information based upon the reference string. - [15] The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the receiving device is configured to receive a link descriptor string value associated with the particular link, and a link descriptor component, the link descriptor component enabling a determination of a link descriptor type to be employed in identifying the link descriptor.
- [16] The apparatus of claim 11 where in the processing device is configured to:
determine, based upon the link descriptor component, a link descriptor type to be employed to identify links; and identify, based upon the determined link descriptor type and the link descriptor string, the particular link descriptor from the received traffic information. - [17] The apparatus of claim 11 wherein the processing device is configured to compare the link identification value with an entry in a link identification look-up table.
