Abstract
A filter system (160) for an air cleaner (100) is provided according to an embodiment of the invention. The filter system (160) includes one or more filter elements (169) and a filter tray (164) adapted to be received in a filter tray receptacle (153) of the air cleaner (100). The filter tray (164) includes a bottom surface (162) and one or more bottom airflow apertures (165) formed in the bottom surface (162). The filter tray (164) receives the one or more filter elements (169).
Claims (30)
1. A filter system (160) for an air cleaner (100), comprising one or more filter elements (169), with the air cleaner (100) being characterized by:
a filter tray (164) adapted to be received in a filter tray receptacle (153) of the air cleaner (100), with the filter tray (164) including a bottom surface (162) and one or more bottom airflow apertures (165) formed in the bottom surface (162) and wherein the filter tray (164) receives the one or more filter elements (169).
a filter tray (164) adapted to be received in a filter tray receptacle (153) of the air cleaner (100), with the filter tray (164) including a bottom surface (162) and one or more bottom airflow apertures (165) formed in the bottom surface (162) and wherein the filter tray (164) receives the one or more filter elements (169).
2. The filter system (160) of claim 1, wherein the filter system (160) is adapted to slide into and out of the filter tray receptacle (153).
3. The filter system (160) of claim 1, further comprising a tray cover portion (170) that fits to the filter tray (164) and traps the one or more filter elements (169), with the tray cover portion (170) including one or more top airflow apertures (171).
4. The filter system (160) of claim 1, further comprising a tray cover portion (170) that fits to the filter tray (164) and traps the one or more filter elements (169), with the tray cover portion (170) including one or more top airflow apertures (171) and with the tray cover portion (170) being affixed to the filter tray (164) by one or more fasteners (166) and one or more corresponding fastener apertures (174).
5. The filter system (160) of claim 1, further comprising:
a tray cover portion (170) that fits to the filter tray (164) and traps the one or more flter elements (169), with the tray cover portion (170) including one or more top airflow apertures (171);
one or more fastener projections (166) extending from one of the filter tray (164) or the tray cover portion (170); and one or more corresponding fastener apertures (174) formed on the opposing tray cover portion (170) or the opposing filter tray (164), wherein the one or more fastener apertures (174) receive and trap the one or more fastener projections (166).
a tray cover portion (170) that fits to the filter tray (164) and traps the one or more flter elements (169), with the tray cover portion (170) including one or more top airflow apertures (171);
one or more fastener projections (166) extending from one of the filter tray (164) or the tray cover portion (170); and one or more corresponding fastener apertures (174) formed on the opposing tray cover portion (170) or the opposing filter tray (164), wherein the one or more fastener apertures (174) receive and trap the one or more fastener projections (166).
6. The filter system (160) of claim 1, further comprising:
a tray cover portion (170) that fits to the filter tray (164) and traps the one or more filter elements (169), with the tray cover portion (170) including one or more top airflow apertures (171);
one or more barbed fastener projections (166) extending from one of the filter tray (164) or the tray cover portion (170); and one or more corresponding fastener apertures (174) formed on the opposing tray cover portion (170) or the opposing filter tray (164), wherein the one or more fastener apertures (174) receive and trap the one or more barbed fastener projections (166).
a tray cover portion (170) that fits to the filter tray (164) and traps the one or more filter elements (169), with the tray cover portion (170) including one or more top airflow apertures (171);
one or more barbed fastener projections (166) extending from one of the filter tray (164) or the tray cover portion (170); and one or more corresponding fastener apertures (174) formed on the opposing tray cover portion (170) or the opposing filter tray (164), wherein the one or more fastener apertures (174) receive and trap the one or more barbed fastener projections (166).
7. The filter system (160) of claim 1, further comprising a grip portion (161) that extends from a front of the filter tray (164).
8. The filter system (160) of claim 1, further comprising one or more latch projections (163) that extend from at least one side of the filter tray (164), with the one or more latch projections (163) being adapted to latch to a chassis (150) of the air cleaner (100).
9. The filter system (160) of claim 1, further comprising:
a grip portion (161) that extends from a front of the filter tray (164); and one or more latch projections (163) that extend from at least one side of the filter tray (164), with the one or more latch projections (163) being adapted to latch to a chassis (150) of the air cleaner (100), wherein the one or more latch projections (163) are configured to disengage the chassis (150) when the grip portion (161) is squeezed.
a grip portion (161) that extends from a front of the filter tray (164); and one or more latch projections (163) that extend from at least one side of the filter tray (164), with the one or more latch projections (163) being adapted to latch to a chassis (150) of the air cleaner (100), wherein the one or more latch projections (163) are configured to disengage the chassis (150) when the grip portion (161) is squeezed.
10. The filter system (160) of claim 1, further comprising one or more orientation guide projections (167) formed on the filter tray (164) and adapted to fit to an orientation guide slot (155) in the filter tray receptacle (153).
11. A filter system (160) for an air cleaner (100), comprising one or more filter elements (169), with the air cleaner (100) being characterized by:
a filter tray (164) adapted to be received in a filter tray receptacle (153) of the air cleaner (100), with the filter tray (164) including a bottom surface (162) and one or more bottom airflow apertures (165) formed in the bottom surface (162) and wherein the filter tray (164) receives the one or more filter elements (169); and a tray cover portion (170) that fits to the filter tray (164) and traps the one or more filter elements (169), with the tray cover portion (170) including one or more top airflow apertures (171).
a filter tray (164) adapted to be received in a filter tray receptacle (153) of the air cleaner (100), with the filter tray (164) including a bottom surface (162) and one or more bottom airflow apertures (165) formed in the bottom surface (162) and wherein the filter tray (164) receives the one or more filter elements (169); and a tray cover portion (170) that fits to the filter tray (164) and traps the one or more filter elements (169), with the tray cover portion (170) including one or more top airflow apertures (171).
12. The filter system (160) of claim 11, wherein the filter system (160) is adapted to slide into and out of the filter tray receptacle (153).
13. The filter system (160) of claim 11, with the tray cover portion (170) being affixed to the filter tray (164) by one or more fasteners (166) and one or more corresponding fastener apertures (174).
14. The filter system (160) of claim 11, farther comprising:
one or more fastener projections (166) extending from one of the filter tray (164) or the tray cover portion (170); and one or more corresponding fastener apertures (174) formed on the opposing tray cover portion (170) or the opposing filter tray (164), wherein the one or more fastener apertures (174) receive and trap the one or more fastener projections (166).

one or more barbed fastener projections (166) extending from one of the filter tray (164) or the tray cover portion (170); and one or more corresponding fastener apertures (174) formed on the opposing tray cover portion (170) or the opposing filter tray (164), wherein the one or more fastener apertures (174) receive and trap the one or more barbed fastener projections (166).

17. The filter system (160) of claim 11, further comprising one or more latch projections (163) that extend from at least one side of the filter tray (164), with the one or more latch projections (163) being adapted to latch to a chassis (150) of the air cleaner (100).
18. The filter system (160) of claim 11, further comprising:
a grip portion (161) that extends from a front of the filter tray (164); and one or more latch projections (163) that extend from at least one side of the filter tray (164), with the one or more latch projections (163) being adapted to latch to a chassis (150) of the air cleaner (100), wherein the one or more latch projections (163) are configured to disengage the chassis (150) when the grip portion (161) is squeezed.

20. An air cleaner (100), comprising a chassis (150) including a filter tray receptacle (153);
one or more filter elements (169), with the air cleaner (100) being characterized by:
a filter tray (164) adapted to be received in the filter tray receptacle (153), with the filter tray (164) including a bottom surface (162) and one or more bottom airflow apertures (165) formed in the bottom surface (162) and wherein the filter tray (164) receives the one or more filter elements (169), wherein the filter tray (164) and the one or more filter elements (169) are configured to slide into and out of the filter tray receptacle (153).
one or more filter elements (169), with the air cleaner (100) being characterized by:
a filter tray (164) adapted to be received in the filter tray receptacle (153), with the filter tray (164) including a bottom surface (162) and one or more bottom airflow apertures (165) formed in the bottom surface (162) and wherein the filter tray (164) receives the one or more filter elements (169), wherein the filter tray (164) and the one or more filter elements (169) are configured to slide into and out of the filter tray receptacle (153).
21. The air cleaner (100) of claim 20, further comprising a tray cover portion (170) that fits to the filter tray (164) and traps the one or more filter elements (169), with the tray cover portion (170) including one or more top airflow apertures (171).
22. The air cleaner (100) of claim 20, with the tray cover portion (170) being affixed to the filter tray (164) by one or more fasteners (166) and one or more corresponding fastener apertures (174).
23. The air cleaner (100) of claim 20, further comprising:
one or more fastener projections (166) extending from one of the filter tray (164) or the tray cover portion (170); and one or more corresponding fastener apertures (174) formed on the opposing tray cover portion (170) or the opposing filter tray (164), wherein the one or more fastener apertures (174) receive and trap the one or more fastener projections (166).

one or more barbed fastener projections (166) extending from one of the filter tray (164) or the tray cover portion (170); and one or more corresponding fastener apertures (174) formed on the opposing tray cover portion (170) or the opposing filter tray (164), wherein the one or more fastener apertures (174) receive and trap the one or more barbed fastener projections (166).

25. The air cleaner (100) of claim 20, further comprising a grip portion (161) that extends from a front of the filter tray (164).
26. The air cleaner (100) of claim 20, further comprising a door (154) hinged to the chassis (150), wherein the door (154) blocks the filter tray receptacle (153) when the filter tray (164) is not in place.
27. The air cleaner (100) of claim 20, further comprising a switch that is contacted by the filter system (160) when the filter system (160) is in place in the filter tray receptacle (153), wherein the switch indicates when the filter system (160) is in place in the filter tray receptacle (153).
28. The air cleaner (100) of claim 20, further comprising one or more latch projections (163) that extend from at least one side of the filter tray (164), with the one or more latch projections (163) being adapted to latch to a chassis (150) of the air cleaner (100).
29. The air cleaner (100) of claim 20, further comprising:
a grip portion (161) that extends from a front of the filter tray (164); and one or more latch projections (163) that extend from at least one side of the filter tray (164), with the one or more latch projections (163) being adapted to latch to a chassis (150) of the air cleaner (100), wherein the one or more latch projections (163) are configured to disengage the chassis (150) when the grip portion (161) is squeezed.
a grip portion (161) that extends from a front of the filter tray (164); and one or more latch projections (163) that extend from at least one side of the filter tray (164), with the one or more latch projections (163) being adapted to latch to a chassis (150) of the air cleaner (100), wherein the one or more latch projections (163) are configured to disengage the chassis (150) when the grip portion (161) is squeezed.
30. The air cleaner (100) of claim 20, further comprising one or more orientation guide projections (167) formed on the filter tray (164) and adapted to fit to an orientation guide slot (155) in the filter tray receptacle (153).
