Abstract

A thermally insulative label is provided. The label includes a first layer of material including an insulative coating, and a second layer of shrink material coupled to the first layer wherein the second layer includes graphics.

Claims (32)

1. A thermally insulative label comprising:

a first layer of material comprising an insulative coating; and a second layer of shrink material coupled to said first layer wherein said second layer comprises graphics.
2. A label in accordance with Claim 1 wherein said first layer is configured to adhesively couple to a container.
3. A label in accordance with Claim 2 wherein said insulative coating and said graphics are positioned adjacent one another prior to adhesively coupling said label to said container.
4. A label in accordance with Claim 1 wherein said insulative coating comprises at least one polymer and a plurality of expandable particles.
5. A label in accordance with Claim 4 wherein said label comprises a ratio of about 1:1 to 1:2 of said plurality of expandable particles to said at least one polymer.
6. A label in accordance with Claim 4 wherein said insulative coating is configured to change properties when heated.
7. A label in accordance with Claim 1 wherein said insulative coating is configured to expand when heated.
8. A label in accordance with Claim 1 wherein said coating is applied by at least one of spraying and rolling.
9. A label in accordance with Claim 1 wherein said first layer comprises one of a shrink material and a non-shrink material.
10. A label in accordance with Claim 1 wherein said first layer is at least one of a film, a paper based material, and a foil based material.
11. A label in accordance with Claim 1 wherein said second layer is adjacent said coating.
12. A thermal insulative label comprising:

a layer of material comprising a first side and a second side; and an insulative coating applied to said second side of said layer of material prior to coupling said layer of material to a container such that said second side is adjacent the container.
13. A label in accordance with Claim 12 wherein said layer of material further comprises graphics that are applied to at least one of said first side and said second side.
14. A label in accordance with Claim 12 wherein said layer of material comprises at least one of shrink material and non-shrink material.
15. A label in accordance with Claim 12 wherein said layer of material comprises at least one of film material, foil based material, and paper based material.
16. A label in accordance with Claim 12 wherein said insulative coating comprises at least one of a polymer and a plurality of expandable particles.
17. A label in accordance with Claim 12 wherein said insulative coating is configured to expand when heated.
18. A label in accordance with Claim 17 wherein heat is applied to said insulative coating prior to coupling said layer of material to said container.
19. A label in accordance with Claim 17 wherein heat is applied to said insulative coating after coupling said layer of material to said container.
20. A label in accordance with Claim 12 wherein said insulative coating is applied by at least one of spraying and rolling.
21. A thermal insulative label comprising:

a first layer of material comprising graphics; and an insulative coating applied to a second layer of material wherein said second layer of material is coupled to said first layer of material prior to coupling said first and second layer of materials to a container.
22. A thermal insulative label comprising:

a first layer of shrink material comprises graphics; and a second layer of shrink material configured to couple to said first layer wherein said second layer comprises an insulative coating comprising a laminating adhesive between said first layer and said second layer.
23. A label in accordance with Claim 22 wherein said insulative coating comprises at least one of a polymer and a plurality of expandable particles.
24. A label in accordance with Claim 22 wherein said insulative coating is configured to change properties when heated.
25. A method of making a label comprising:
providing at least one layer of material;

applying an insulative coating to the at least one layer of material; and heating the at least one layer of material such that the insulative coating changes properties and becomes an insulative coating.
26. A method in accordance with Claim 25 wherein changing properties comprises at least one of foaming and expanding.
27. A method in accordance with Claim 25 further comprising coupling the at least one layer of material to a container.
28. A method in accordance with Claim 25 wherein applying the insulative coating comprises at least one of spraying and rolling.
29. A method in accordance with Claim 25 wherein heating the at least one layer of material further comprises heating the at least one layer of material prior to coupling the at least one layer of material to a container.
30. A method in accordance with Claim 25 wherein heating the at least one layer of material further comprises heating the at least one layer of material simultaneously with applying the at least one layer of material to a container.
31. A method in accordance with Claim 25 wherein heating the at least one layer of material further comprises heating the at least one layer of material after applying the at least one layer to a container.
32. A method in accordance with Claim 25, said method further comprising applying the insulative coating to at least one of a container and a layer of material.
