技术领域
本发明总体上涉及移动终端及相关技术,尤其是涉及移动终端信号接收,转换及显示。
背景技术
便携式移动终端(例如手机,私人数字助理(PDA))的执行平台及功能在迅速发展着,并具有实用性。我们确信个人计算机(例如台式机或笔记本)提供的大多数功能最终能被便携式移动终端实现,并使用户在任何时间,任何地点都能传输和使用多媒体信息。
例如,下一代或更前沿的无线通信系统(例如3G,4G等等)所带来的一项呼声最高的益处是能够在支持语音传输之外,还能很好地支持高效多媒体数据的传输。在传统的蜂窝系统中,移动终端以无线方式和基站通信。多媒体信息由不同的服务提供商发送,并被接收以在移动终端的屏幕上显示,这些多媒体信息包括但并不限于电视信号,3D影像,网络游戏,及可视电话等。这一发展的直接益处是用诸如手机的小屏幕可以展示丰富的多媒体信息。
在这些及相近的系统中,移动终端是作为多媒体终端显示从高速无线通信网络传来的多媒体信息(包括高清晰度图像和高效实时音频/视频信息)。但是,移动终端屏幕有限的大小(例如2*3英寸)和功能为用户享受这种高速数据流应用带来了不便,有时甚至使其不能使用。这种不便的后果将直接限制高速率传输和无线移动通信市场的发展。事实上,有人甚至指出,因为小屏幕的局限性所至,诸如3G系统等高数率系统及其下一代无线移动系统的发展根本没有实用性。
有些移动终端设备能给显示系统提供遥控功能,但是并不能解决以上提到的小屏幕的局限性。因为它们也无法使适于在大的外置显示屏上播放的可视内容或其他多媒体信息在移动终端显示屏上达到相似效果。
例如,在移动终端上加入节目指南信息的应用界面,可以使之变成电视机的遥控器。当用电视机的大屏幕播放电视自身接收的广播电视节目时,可以用这个移动终端遥控节目菜单;但这种应用仍无法解决上述提到的因手机小屏幕的限制而无法很好显示手机自身接收的高速多媒体信息的问题。
尽管移动终端的信号传输和相关功能已被加强,但用户使用时的乐趣仍因为这种移动终端带来的局限性而大大减少。因此迫切需要一个对上述问题的解决方案。
发明内容
根据本发明,本来给移动终端的多媒体信号被转换并提供给外显示系统;这样相应的音频和/或可视信息便可以通过外显示系统来显示了。
我们确信这一发明可以在多种环境下适用,包括飞机,火车,汽车,旅店,候车室等等候区,及任何有需要,并可以使用显示终端来显示来自无线通信系统的高速多媒体信息的地方。
根据本发明的一个方面,处理信号以便由显示终端来显示,这一过程包括,接收供移动终端播放的可视信号,接着这种可视信号被处理成适合与移动终端不同的显示终端再现的转换了的可视信号,这种被转换过的可视信号再被提供给显示终端,在其屏幕上播放相应的可视显示。

具体实施例详述
下文中,结合附图,我们用了诸如流程图和系统结构的大量细节来具体解释和阐述本发明。但是,那些对于在此领域内行的人来说是显而易见的具体细节并不必要在本发明中阐述。
图1是一个说明系统100的概况的图,其中包括了本发明的移动终端信号转换。
通过对移动终端信号的转换,可以用显示设备显示无线通信环境中的高速数据流多媒体信息。这一功能可以使我们真正实现和享受使多媒体带给我们的娱乐和益处。

移动终端接口单元202能够从移动终端或无线通信网络直接接收多媒体信息。传统的物理接口提供MTSCM200和移动终端之间的连接,使信号流向MTSCM200。移动终端接口单元202识别并储存多媒体信息,再由剩余的单元处理。缓冲和类似的操作可以用来进行下述的存储和信号处理。
信号转换单元204与移动终端接口单元202相通信,由此存取并处理接收的多媒体信息。信号转换单元204识别出多媒体信号的格式,并将其处理成经转换的信号。经转换的信号可以有与移动终端所用的不同的格式和信号功率强度,并能适应与MTSCM200相连的一种或多种外置设备。以下结合图3说明了与MTSCM200相连的各种不同类型的外置设备。
外置设备接口206与信号转换单元204相通信,由此获取经转换的信号。外置设备接口206也可以与外置设备(例如显示设备)相连。外置设备接口206既可以给外置设备提供经转换的信号,也可以驱动外置设备。或者,外置设备接口206也可以仅仅给外置设备提供经转换的信号,而此外置设备有内置驱动单元可以驱动重现(例如:显示)信号的装置。
图3是一个框图,描述了MTSCM300的另一个例子。MTSCM300包括了有关信号转换方面的更多细节,并描述了不同种类的外显示设备的例子,这些设备均由MTSCM300提供经转换的信号。这些描述和相应的解释用例子来表明。尽管已描述了大量的连接方式,但本发明在实际中既可能包括所有的这些连接方式,也可以只有其中一种或几种;而且也包括这里没有列举的但同样涉及此文内容的连接方式。
MTSCM300包括与上述移动终端接口单元相类似的接口/缓冲器单元302。为适应用户对多媒体信号输出的需求(例如:用充分的缓冲和处理率,来提供实时音频/视频),用余下的组成部分来配置缓冲和接收的功能,以适应信号传输的需要。移动终端视频压缩格式可以有多种变化,但目前最常用的是MPEG-1或MPEG-2。缓冲和吞吐率也可以根据设计者的想法来实现。尽管500Mb或更高的缓冲器都可以实现,但目前公认200Mb是较合适的缓冲规格。另外约10Gb/s的吞吐率对目前的系统较适合,但可以根据需要或涉及的技术要求而提高。
视频压缩译码器304a用来接收多媒体信号。多媒体信息通常以压缩的方式来满足增加的信号传输率的需求。MPEG标准之一(例如MPEG-1,MPEG-2,MPEG-4)就是提供这一压缩系统的例子。视频压缩译码器304a被配置成包括适当的压缩和解压缩(CODEC)单元,来解压缩接收到的多媒体信号。例如,当压缩方案采用MPEG时,视频压缩译码器304a用的是MPEGCODEC来处理这样的多媒体信号。
作为在MTSCM300中提供视频压缩译码器304a的另一可选择的方式,上述功能也可以在手机或其它的移动终端中提供。但是,这一方案的困难在于,手机和MTSCM300之间传输解压缩信息需要的高带宽,相应地,MTSCM300需要更大的缓冲功能。
视频压缩译码器304a把解压缩的数字多媒体信号输出到数字/模拟视频编码器(DAVE)304b和/或数字/数字视频编码器DDVE304c。数字/模拟视频编码器DAVE304b提供信号给模拟显示终端320;数字/数字视频编码器DDVE304c提供信号给数字外显示终端322。数字/模拟视频编码器DAVE304b和数字/数字视频编码器DDVE304c分别接收解压缩的多媒体信号,并把这些信号转换成与之接口的接收终端所需的格式和信号功率强度。
模拟显示终端320使用的格式的例子包括所列的S-视频,RGBHV,RGBS和EIA770.3。同样的,数字/数字视频编码器DDVE304c提供输出,使用的标准如DVI,DVI-D,HDMI,和IEEE1394。由数字/模拟视频编码器DAVE 304b和数字/数字视频编码器DDVE304c分别提供的信息经由接口306a-b输出到终端。数字/模拟视频编码器DAVE)304b在实际中可以实现为相应设置的视频卡。这种视频卡可以被配置来完成上述的功能,包括但不限于DiamondStealthS60,ASUSV9400-X,或RADEON7000。
最终,这些信号根据所需的特定显示类型在外显示终端上显示。例如,视频数据流可以是数字RGB信号,来表示在不同的位置处红,绿,蓝光的强度。这种信号由D/A转换器转换成模拟信号。这种转换了的模拟信号符合标准所需的电压和格式,例如阴极射线管CRT监视器的输入。这种标准化的视频信息能够驱动一组电子枪,并产生受控的电子流,在CRT屏幕上分别显示红,绿,蓝光。这只是一个例子,事实上本发明并不限于某种特定的外显示技术(例如CRT)。
如上所述,在一个实施例中,MTSCM与移动终端和外显示终端可以完全分开,并分别有与其它设施的连接,完成包括三部分硬件(移动终端,转换盒,外显示终端)的整个系统配置。这一配置能提供很好的灵活性,可以在不限制移动终端和外显示终端制造商的前提下,让任何标准的移动终端和/或显示终端与MTSCM最大程度地协调。这种配置的可能的缺点是系统需要额外的硬件。
替代这个拥有三个组成部分的系统,MTSCM既可以设置在移动终端内,也可以设置在显示终端中。图5描述了一个将MTSCM移动终端信号的转换设在移动终端508中的系统500的实施例。服务提供商502a,b网络504的单元和功能以及给移动终端508传输多媒体信号的基站与图1的模拟单元相同,在此不再赘述。同样的,外显示终端514可以是上述多种形式中的任意一个。
MTSCM512提供的是与上述相同的功能。但是,MTSCM512是移动终端508的一个组成部分,而不是分置于其它设备中。另外,此系统500的潜在好处是,任何标准的设备都可以作为外显示终端514来使用,而不必限制显示设备制造商。另外,将外显示设备与移动终端508连接仅仅需要一个简单的有线或无线的接口。举例而言,这意味着用户不需要在手机之外再携带一个笨重的转换单元。
此系统500的潜在缺点是移动终端508的执行平台可能被设计成仅仅适应传统的功能,这样一来,将MTSCM功能加在现存的执行平台上对有些系统将很具挑战性。另外,MTSCM将大量地消耗移动终端(图中代号508)的电池所能提供的有限能量。所以通过电缆与外显示终端514相连,并提供能量给移动终端508的实施例非常有实际性。同样的,这样一来将要求对移动终端508进行某些改动,因为其已有的能源提供端口可能不足胜任此项功能。
图6是一个系统图,描述了另外一个将MTSCM612设置于外显示终端614中的系统600的例子。与图5相同,服务提供商602a,b网络604和给移动终端608传输多媒体信息的基站606的组成部分和实用性与图1中的模拟单元相同;在此不再赘述。
在此,移动终端608仅需要与外显示终端614直接连接。但是,替代将MTSCM612的功能设置于移动终端608中的方式是,使之成为显示终端614的一部分。此系统600解决了将MTSCM614放置于移动终端中所涉及的供电和执行平台的问题;而且,任何移动终端608,除了提供一个传输接口以外,无须另行改动便可与任何已配备MTSCM的外显示设备相连。这一配置潜在的缺点是,在标准的外显示终端基础上又多加了组成部分,相应费用也增加了。
图7是一个描述根据本发明的移动终端信号转换应用程序700的实施例。通过举例来说明这些应用程序700,可以使读者了解本发明实施例可以应用的一些可能情况。本发明不仅限于列出的这些应用;所有可能的应用也不限于已描述的实施例。
提供无线通信信号和相应的多媒体信号的基础结构包括以上描述的服务提供商702a,b,网络704,基站706,和移动终端708。MTSCM710可以在移动终端708中或显示终端712中,也可与其分离。需要较大屏幕和较高级音响的应用714的例子包括,视频会议,HDTV,游戏,GPS,和视频点播。另外,本发明的实施例提供完全的多媒体功能享受的场所716,可以包括机动车辆,飞机,旅馆和休假场所等。举例而言,本发明从而提供了在机动车,飞机和任何交通工具内的使用,使乘客可以流览因特网,看电视,玩游戏,参加视频会议或进行视频通话,并可以应用所有种类的软件的全部功能和实用性。
因此,本发明的具体实施例能产生并提供移动终端信号的转换。
已经描述了本发明的示意实施例,并且本领域的技术人员应当明白,本发明不应被限制为所述的实施例,而是可以在如附加的权利要求所限定的本发明的精神和范围之内对本发明作出各种改变和修改。

Claims (48)

1.一种处理信号以适用于替代移动终端屏幕显示的显示终端的装置,包括:
接口单元,其被配置用于接收适合在所述移动终端的屏幕上显示的视频信号;
信号转换单元,其被配置用于处理所述视频信号以产生被所述显示终端利用的经转换的视频信号,其中所述处理包括:将所述视频信号的信号格式转换为不同的格式以用于输出到所述显示终端,以及由所述信号转换单元产生的经转换的视频信号包括高清晰度数字信号;其中处理所述视频信号包括:将具有压缩格式的所述视频信号转换成解压缩的数字视频信号;其中处理所述视频信号还包括:对所述解压缩的数字视频信号进行编码以适用于通过数字高清晰度接口传输到所述显示终端;和
接口装置单元,其被配置用于通过所述数字高清晰度接口给所述显示终端提供经转换的视频信号以用于视频内容显示,
其中接收来自所述显示终端的能量给所述移动终端。
2.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述移动终端是手机。
3.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述移动终端是个人数字助理PDA。
4.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述显示终端是数字显示装置。
5.如权利要求4所述的装置,其中所述数字显示装置是HDTV、LCD、和等离子显示设备中任意一个。
6.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述移动终端通过与所述显示终端相连的电缆接收所述能量。
7.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述接口单元、所述信号转换单元和所述接口装置单元置于与所述移动终端和所述显示终端分离的中间单元中。
8.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述接口单元接收的视频信号是来自无线通信网络的多媒体信号的一部分。
9.如权利要求8所述的装置,其中所述无线通信网络是蜂窝网络和无线局域网之一。
10.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中经转换的视频信号具有与转换前的视频信号不同的信号功率电平。
11.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述接口单元接收的视频信号来自无线通信网络的基站。
12.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述装置被包括在所述显示终端中。
13.一种处理信号以适用于替代移动终端屏幕显示的显示终端的系统,包括:
接收适合在所述移动终端的屏幕上显示的视频信号的装置;
处理所述视频信号以产生被所述显示终端利用的经转换的视频信号的装置,其中所述处理包括:将所述视频信号的信号格式转换为不同的格式以用于输出到所述显示终端,以及经转换的视频信号包括高清晰度数字信号;其中处理所述视频信号包括:将具有压缩格式的所述视频信号转换成解压缩的数字视频信号;其中处理所述视频信号还包括:对所述解压缩的数字视频信号进行编码以适用于通过数字高清晰度接口传输到所述显示终端;和
通过所述数字高清晰度接口给所述显示终端提供经转换的视频信号以用于视频内容显示的装置,
其中接收来自所述显示终端的能量给所述移动终端。
14.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中所述移动终端是手机。
15.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中所述移动终端是个人数字助理PDA。
16.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中所述显示终端是数字显示装置。
17.如权利要求16所述的系统,其中所述数字显示装置是HDTV、LCD、和等离子显示设备中任意一个。
18.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中所述移动终端通过与所述显示终端相连的电缆接收所述能量。
19.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中接收视频信号的装置、处理视频信号以提供经转换的视频信号的装置、给所述显示终端提供经转换的视频信号的装置都设置于一个与所述移动终端和所述显示终端分离的中间单元中。
20.如权利要求19所述的系统,其中所述中间单元接收包括所述视频信号的射频信号。
21.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中接收视频信号的装置、处理视频信号成经转换的视频信号的装置、给所述显示终端提供经转换的视频信号的装置都设置于所述显示终端内。
22.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中所述显示终端接收直接来自无线通信网络的包括视频信息的射频信号。
23.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中接收视频信号的装置、处理视频信号成经转换的视频信号的装置、给所述显示终端提供经转换的视频信号的装置都设置于所述移动终端中。
24.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中接收的视频信号是来自无线通信网络的多媒体信号的一部分。
25.如权利要求24所述的系统,其中无线通信网络是蜂窝通信网络和无线局域网之一。
26.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中所述接收视频信号的装置接收的视频信号来自无线通信网络的基站。
27.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中经转换的视频信号具有与转换前的视频信号不同的显示格式和/或信号功率电平。
28.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中接收视频信号的装置设在所述移动终端中,所述移动终端接收的视频信号来自无线通信网络的基站。
29.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中接收视频信号的装置设在中间单元中,其视频信号来自所述中间单元直接从无线通信网络的基站接收的信号。
30.如权利要求13所述的系统,其中所述显示终端是外置显示终端。
31.一种处理信号以适用于替代移动终端屏幕显示的显示终端的方法,包括:
由转换单元接收适合在所述移动终端的屏幕上显示的视频信号;
由所述转换单元处理所述视频信号以提供被所述显示终端利用的经转换的视频信号,其中由所述转换单元进行的处理包括:将所述视频信号的信号格式转换为不同的格式以用于输出到所述显示终端,其中经转换的视频信号包括高清晰度数字信号;和
通过数字高清晰度接口提供经转换的视频信号给所述显示终端以用于视频内容显示;
其中处理所述视频信号包括:将具有压缩格式的所述视频信号转换成解压缩的数字视频信号;
其中处理所述视频信号还包括:对所述解压缩的数字视频信号进行编码以适用于通过数字高清晰度接口传输到所述显示终端,
其中接收来自所述显示终端的能量给所述移动终端。
32.如权利要求31所述的方法,其中所述移动终端是手机。
33.如权利要求31所述的方法,其中所述移动终端是个人数字助理PDA。
34.如权利要求31所述的方法,其中所述显示终端是数字显示装置。
35.如权利要求34所述的方法,其中所述数字显示装置是HDTV、LCD、和等离子显示设备中任意一个。
36.如权利要求31所述的方法,其中所述移动终端通过与所述显示终端相连的电缆接收所述能量。
37.如权利要求31所述的方法,其中接收视频信号、处理视频信号以提供经转换的视频信号、给所述显示终端提供这种经转换的视频信号的步骤由一个与所述移动终端和所述显示终端分离的中间单元完成。
38.如权利要求37所述的方法,其中所述中间单元接收包括所述视频信号的射频信号。
39.如权利要求31所述的方法,其中接收视频信号、处理视频信号以提供经转换的视频信号、和提供经转换的视频信号给所述显示终端的步骤在所述显示终端内完成。
40.如权利要求31所述的方法,其中所述显示终端接收直接来自无线通信网络的包括视频信息的射频信号。
41.如权利要求31所述的方法,其中接收视频信号、处理视频信号以提供经转换的视频信号、和提供经转换的视频信号给所述显示终端的步骤在所述移动终端内来完成。
42.如权利要求31所述的方法,其中接收的视频信号是来自无线通信网络的多媒体信号的一部分。
43.如权利要求42所述的方法,其中无线通信网络是蜂窝网络和无线局域网中的一个。
