技术领域

背景技术
一般而言,诸如非接触式智能卡、密钥卡、无线射频识别装置(RFID)、蜂窝电话等的便携电子装置被设计成为消费者提供使用射频(RF)信号实现无线通信和数据交换的途径。例如,非接触式智能卡允许消费者存储并发送金融数据和其它个人数据至第三方,例如银行。又如,诸如RFID的便携电子装置被用来以无线方式识别物品、以及在制造、运输、仓贮等阶段监控这些物品。由于智能卡和RFID变得越来越流行,可以预见它们最终将被应用于包括银行、卫生、保险、社会保障、跟踪、运输等领域的实质上所有的交易。
由于非接触式电子装置能不使用导线地工作,因此非接触式便携电子装置可望取代需要物理接触和/或物理连接以与其它装置和系统通信的其它类型装置。譬如,非接触式智能卡可望取代常规信用卡,由于它们不需要与所运作的交易终端接触。具有磁条的常规接触式信用卡和接触式智能卡必须与读取器形成接触。同样,由于能以无线方式识别和跟踪物品,RFID可望取代许多条形码读取系统。
非接触式便携电子装置的主要优点是无需将它们从用户的皮夹、公文包、背包或钱包中取出。如今,设定非接触式读取器和非接触式便携电子装置之间的标准范围的国际标准已经建立。因此,非接触式便携电子装置可与非接触式读取器以无线方式交换数据而不需要用户从皮夹、钱包、衣袋等中取出非接触式便携电子装置,只要他在非接触式读取器的范围内即可。为简便和节约成本,非接触式便携电子装置经常不具有内嵌的电源(即,电池)。例如,智能卡和RFID具有设计成从非接触式读取器接收RF信号的天线,这些RF信号既为智能卡/RFID装置供电又能使它们与非接触式读取器通信。

发明内容
本发明的实施方式提供一种屏蔽诸如智能卡、RFID、密钥卡、标签等非接触式便携消费者装置使其不受未经许可的无线询问的装置和方法。
在一个实施方式中,本发明提供一种便携消费者装置,该装置包括第一天线和包含导电性、非铁磁性材料的RF屏蔽体。RF屏蔽体被配置成防止未经许可的数据在便携消费者装置外部的第二天线和该第一天线之间传递。

具体实施方式
本发明的实施方式提供一种屏蔽非接触式便携消费者装置的RF屏蔽装置和方法。在一个实施方式中,RF屏蔽体具有特定的形状、尺寸和/或非铁磁性材料。这些特征使屏蔽体可阻挡或衰减预定频率范围和/或振幅范围内的RF信号以便不会发生便携消费者装置中的第一天线与便携消费者装置外部的第二天线之间未经许可的数据传递(例如未经许可的银行帐号传递)。便携消费者装置中的天线可以是任何适当的形式,包括线圈形。

一种示例性便携消费者装置包括诸如存储芯片的存储器和/或微处理器。这两者均可可操作地耦合至便携消费者装置中的天线。存储器较佳地包含诸如金融信息的信息。金融信息可包括诸如银行帐户信息、信用卡或借记卡号信息、帐户余额信息、用户信息等的信息。如果便携消费者装置以借记卡、信用卡或智能卡的形式出现,则便携消费者装置还可任择地具有诸如磁条的特征。此类装置能够以接触式或非接触式方式工作。
根据本发明实施方式的便携消费者装置可与同样具有天线的经许可的读取器一起使用。这些经许可的读取器可出现在销售点(POS)终端、ATM(自动柜员机)等处。这些读取器在本领域是众所周知的。
RF屏蔽体可覆盖便携消费者装置的一部分或整个便携消费者装置。在本发明的实施方式中,RF屏蔽体覆盖便携消费者装置中的一个或多个天线的一侧或两侧。在RF领域内众所周知的是能够形成RF屏蔽体以反射或吸收RF信号。这些屏蔽体可具有更易于反射或吸收某一波长信号的特定材料和/或具有更易于反射或吸收某一波长的信号的特定构型。

为了防止RF屏蔽体100向天线106的信号电耦合,RF屏蔽体100被设置成与非接触式便携消费者装置102接触和/或与之处于同一接地位。接地触点(未示出)可与天线106在空间上分离。可使用导电性粘合剂114任选地增强RF屏蔽体100和非接触式便携消费者装置102之间的电接触。即使非接触式便携消费者装置102的本体108由塑料或其它聚合物构成,也可通过诸如皮夹的载体的表面接触和/或路径建立接地路径(如下所述)。RF屏蔽体100还具有传导主体部112,它为通过由传导主体112传导的RF信号产生的电流提供一个或多个内部电路径。例如,传导主体112包括非铁磁性材料如铝、铜、黄铜以及表现出极低的导磁率但却能导电的合金。在其它实施方式中,RF屏蔽体100可由具有同样优点的金属性打印油墨、网状材料、导电织物等构成。非铁磁性材料尤为理想。例如,诸如铝的金属是常用的、廉价的并且易于制造的。

本发明的实施方式提供若干优点。与前面提到的Petsinger中描述的装置不同,本发明的实施方式使用诸如铝之类的较为廉价的材料。当数以千计的非接触式信用卡或借记卡被邮寄给消费者时,相对于与Petsinger装置相关的成本,与本发明实施方式相关的成本节约是显著的。此类材料来源更广并且是比Petsinger中提到的铁磁性材料更好的导体。因此它们提供比Petsinger中的材料更好的屏蔽性。另外,在一些实施方式中,屏蔽体可以做在柔性载体上或者本身的形式就是柔性载体。如果便携消费者装置以信用卡形式出现,则屏蔽体可与信用卡一起弯曲和折曲,以使其适用于人们的钱包。在其它实施方式中,RF屏蔽体100可以是配置成主动防止无线询问的主动型假目标(active decoy)系统的一部分。“主动无线询问防止”的示例性实施方式可参见与本申请同日提交的编号为16222U-022400US、题为“Apparatus And Method For Preventing Wireless Interrogation Of Portable ConsumerDevices”的_______号的共同待决专利申请,其内容全文援引于此。

Claims (24)

1.一种用于射频屏蔽的装置,其包括:
包括第一天线的便携消费者装置;以及
包括导电性非铁磁性材料的RF屏蔽体,其中所述RF屏蔽体被配置成防止便携消费者装置外部的第二天线和所述第一天线之间的未经许可的数据传递;
其中所述便携式消费者装置仅有一面被所述RF屏蔽体屏蔽;以及
其中所述RF屏蔽体被设计成充当在所述便携消费者装置的工作频率范围频率内的信号衰减器。
2.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,所述非铁磁性材料包括铝。
3.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,所述便携消费者装置的形式是执行金融交易的卡。
4.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,所述便携消费者装置的形式是执行识别功能的卡。
5.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,所述RF屏蔽体的形式是一种附着物。
6.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,所述RF屏蔽体的形式是一种覆盖所述第一天线的附着物。
7.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,所述RF屏蔽体的形式是箔片信封。
8.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,还包括一信封,其中所述信封容纳所述便携消费者装置和所述RF屏蔽体。
9.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,所述RF屏蔽体还被配置成衰减从所述第二天线传至所述第一天线的信号,以使通过RF屏蔽体的信号低于所述便携消费者装置的激活阈值。
10.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,所述便携消费者装置包括蜂窝电话、个人数字助理、寻呼机、支付卡、社保卡、门禁卡、钥匙链、智能介质、应答器、RFID及其结合。
11.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,所述便携消费者装置和所述RF屏蔽体被配置成在仓贮或运输时附加于一种物品之上。
12.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,所述RF屏蔽体的形式是衬于钱包、衣袋或其它服装的衬垫。
13.一种用于射频屏蔽的装置,其包括:
包括第一天线的便携消费者装置;以及
附着物形式的RF屏蔽体,其中所述RF屏蔽体被配置成防止所述便携消费者装置外部的第二天线和所述第一天线之间未经许可的数据传递;以及
其中所述RF屏蔽体被设计成充当在所述便携消费者装置的工作频率范围频率内的信号衰减器。
14.如权利要求13所述的装置,其特征在于,所述便携消费者装置包括信用卡、借记卡、身份识别卡、及其结合。
15.如权利要求13所述的装置,其特征在于,所述附着物具有激活信息。
16.如权利要求13所述的装置,其特征在于,所述附着物覆盖所述天线且以物理方式附加于所述便携消费者装置之上。
17.如权利要求13所述的装置,其特征在于,所述附着物附加于所述便携消费者装置外部的薄片或信封上。
18.如权利要求13所述的装置,其特征在于,所述便携消费者装置的形式是卡,其中所述附着物至少覆盖所述便携消费者装置的周边区域。
19.如权利要求13所述的装置,其特征在于,所述附着物包括铝。
20.如权利要求13所述的装置,其特征在于,所述附着物包括非铁磁性的导电性材料。
21.一种用于射频屏蔽的装置,其包括:
包括第一天线的便携消费者装置;
柔性载体;以及
与所述载体相关联的RF屏蔽体,其中所述RF屏蔽体被配置成防止所述便携消费者装置外的第二天线与所述第一天线之间的未经许可的数据传递;
其中所述便携式消费者装置仅有一面被所述RF屏蔽体屏蔽;以及
其中所述RF屏蔽体被设计成充当在所述便携消费者装置的工作频率范围频率内的信号衰减器。
22.如权利要求21所述的装置,其特征在于,所述RF屏蔽体的形式是包括非铁磁性导电材料的内涂层。
23.如权利要求21所述的装置,其特征在于,所述载体的形式是折叠的薄片且所述RF屏蔽体包括非铁磁性导电材料。
24.如权利要求21所述的装置,其特征在于,所述RF屏蔽体包括衰减用于启用未经许可的数据传递的RF信号的形状。
