Description

背景技术
同轴电缆用于在各种应用中传输射频(RF)信号,例如将无线电传输器和接收器与其天线连接,计算机网络连接,以及分配有线电视信号。同轴电缆通常包括内部导体、环绕内部导体的绝缘层、环绕绝缘层的外部导体、以及环绕外部导体的保护套。
每种类型的同轴电缆都具有与同轴电缆中的信号流对抗的特征阻抗。同轴电缆的阻抗取决于其尺寸和用于其制造的材料。例如,同轴电缆可以通过控制内部和外部导体的直径以及绝缘层的介电常数而被调整至特定阻抗。同轴系统的所有部件应当具有相同阻抗以便减少部件之间的连接处的内部反射。这种反射增加信号损失且会导致反射信号达到接收器,所述反射信号从初始信号稍微延迟。
可能难以保持恒定阻抗的同轴电缆两个部段是在连接器附连的电缆任一端上的接线端部段。例如,一些连接器的附连需要在同轴电缆的接线端处去除绝缘层的部段,以将连接器的支撑结构插入内部导体和外部导体之间。连接器的支撑结构防止在连接器施加压力到外部导体的外侧时外部导体塌陷。然而,不幸的是,支撑结构的介电常数通常与支撑结构所取代的绝缘层的介电常数不同,这改变了同轴电缆的接线端的阻抗。同轴电缆的接线端的阻抗的该变化引起增加的内部反射,从而导致增加的信号损失。
发明内容
总体而言,本发明的示例性实施例涉及管理同轴电缆端接中的阻抗。本文公开的示例性实施例包括在电缆端接期间减少同轴电缆的接线端部段中的内部导体的直径。直径减少内部导体补偿在接线端部段中用连接器支撑结构取代绝缘层。该补偿允许阻抗沿同轴电缆的整个长度保持一致,从而避免与不一致阻抗相关的内部反射和引起的信号损失。

I. 示例性同轴电缆和示例性同轴电缆连接器
现在参考图1A,公开第一示例性同轴电缆100。示例性同轴电缆100具有50欧姆的阻抗,且是7/8”系列波状同轴电缆。然而,应当理解的是,这些电缆特性仅仅是示例性特性,且本文公开的示例性端接方法和工具也可以有益于具有其它阻抗、尺寸和形状特性的同轴电缆。
如图1A所公开的那样,示例性同轴电缆100在任一端上与相同的示例性连接器150端接。虽然连接器150在图1A中公开为DIN凸压缩式连接器,但是应当理解的是,电缆100还可以与其它类型的凸和/或凹连接器(未示出)端接。
现在参考图1B,同轴电缆100总体上包括由绝缘层104环绕的内部导体102、环绕绝缘层104的外部导体106、以及环绕外部导体106的护套108。如本文使用的那样,措词“由…环绕”指的是内层大致由外层包围。然而,应当理解的是,内层可以在内层不与外层直接相邻的情况下由外层“环绕”。因而,措词“由…环绕”允许中间层的可能性。现在将依次介绍示例性同轴电缆100的这些部件中的每个。
内部导体102设置在示例性同轴电缆100的芯部处,且配置成传送一定范围的电流(安培)以及RF/电子数字信号。内部导体102可以由铜、铜包铝(CCA)、铜包钢(CCS)或覆银铜包钢(SCCCS)形成,但是其它导电材料也是可行的。例如,内部导体102可以由任何类型的导电金属或合金形成。此外,虽然图1B的内部导体102是中空的,但是其可以相反具有其它配置,例如实心、胶合、波状、电镀或被包覆。

外部导体106环绕绝缘层104,且总体上用于使得进入和离开内部导体102的高频电磁辐射最小化。在一些应用中,高频电磁辐射是频率大于或等于大约50 MHz的辐射。外部导体106可以由固体铜、铜包铝(CCA)、铜包钢(CCS)或覆银铜包钢(SCCCS)形成,但是其它导电材料也是可行的。此外,外部导体106具有波状壁,但是其可以相反具有大致平滑的壁。
护套108环绕外部导体106,且总体上用于保护同轴电缆100的内部部件不受外部污染物(例如,灰、水分和油)的影响。在典型实施例中,护套108还用于限制电缆的弯曲半径,以防止扭结,且用于保护电缆(及其内部部件)不会受到外部力的碰撞或其它方式变形。护套108可以由各种材料形成,包括但不限于聚乙烯(PE)、高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)、低密度聚乙烯(LDPE)、线性低密度聚乙烯(LDPE)、橡胶化聚氯乙烯(PVC)、或其一些组合。用于形成护套108的实际材料可以由设想的特定应用/环境规定。
应当理解的是,绝缘层104可以由具有足以将内部导体102与外部导体106绝缘的介电常数的其它类型的绝缘材料或结构形成。例如,如图1C所公开的那样,可选同轴电缆100’包括由螺旋形垫圈形成的可选绝缘层104’,其允许内部导体102与外部导体106通过空气大致隔开。例如,可选绝缘层104’的螺旋形垫圈可以由聚乙烯或聚丙烯形成。可选绝缘层104’中的螺旋形垫圈和空气的组合介电常数将足以将可选同轴电缆100’中的内部导体102与外部导体106绝缘。此外,本文公开的示例性端接方法和工具类似地可以有益于可选同轴电缆100’。
II. 用于端接同轴电缆的示例性方法
参考图2和3A-3F,公开了用于端接同轴电缆100的示例性方法200。示例性方法200允许同轴电缆100与连接器端接,同时沿同轴电缆100的整个长度保持一致的阻抗,因而避免与不一致阻抗相关的内部反射和引起的信号损失。
参考图2和3A,方法200以动作202开始,其中,从同轴电缆100的部段110剥离护套108。护套108的该剥离可以使用剥离工具(未示出)完成,其配置成从同轴电缆100自动地剥离护套108的部段110。例如,在图3A公开的示例性实施例中,剥离工具用于从同轴电缆100的剥离部段110剥离大约0.51英寸的护套108。大约0.51英寸的长度与连接器150(参见图1A)所需的暴露外部导体106的长度相对应,但是应当理解的是,可以设想其它长度与其它连接器的需要相对应。可选地,在护套108在执行示例性方法200之前已经从同轴电缆100的部段110预先剥离时,步骤202可以全部省去。

一旦插入,内部连接器结构152就取代在去芯部段112中形成绝缘层104的材料。该取代改变了去芯部段112中内部导体102和外部导体106之间设置的材料的介电常数。由于同轴电缆100的阻抗是内部和外部导体102和106的直径以及绝缘层104的介电常数的函数,介电常数的该变化将独立地改变同轴电缆100的去芯部段112的阻抗。在内部连接器结构152由具有与绝缘层104的介电常数严重不同的介电常数的材料形成时,介电常数的该变化将独立地剧烈地改变同轴电缆100的去芯部段112的阻抗。

如图3D和3F所公开的那样,内部导体102的具体减少直径114与形成内部连接器结构202的形状和材料类型相关。应当理解的是,内部连接器结构202的形状和/或材料的任何变化可能需要内部导体102的直径的相应变化。因而,图3A-3C的示例性工具300可与单种类型的内部连接器结构一起使用,且每种其它类型的内部连接器结构可需要配置成将内部导体的直径减少具体量的独立工具。
参考图2和3F,方法200以动作210结束,其中,连接器150的外部连接器结构154附连到连接器150的内部连接器结构152。如图3F所公开的那样,外部连接器结构154通过同轴电缆100的外部导体106抵靠内部连接器结构152压缩。内部连接器结构152用作支撑结构以防止在外部连接器结构154施加压力到外部导体106的外侧时外部导体106塌陷。因而,通过将连接器150永久性地附连到同轴电缆100的接线端,动作210端接同轴电缆100,如图1A所公开的那样。

Claims (20)

1. 一种用于端接同轴电缆的方法,所述同轴电缆包括:内部导体;环绕内部导体的绝缘层;环绕绝缘层的外部导体;以及环绕外部导体的护套,所述方法包括以下动作:
将绝缘层的部段去芯;
减少位于去芯部段中的内部导体的直径;
将内部连接器结构的至少一部分插入到所述去芯部段,以便环绕直径减少内部导体;以及
将外部连接器结构附连到内部连接器结构。
2. 根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中:将绝缘层的部段去芯的动作使用同轴电缆端接工具完成,所述同轴电缆端接工具配置成去芯绝缘层的一定长度,所述长度大约等于插入去芯部段的内部连接器结构的部分的长度。
3. 根据权利要求2所述的方法,其中:减少内部导体的直径的动作使用所述同轴电缆端接工具完成,所述同轴电缆端接工具还配置成减少内部导体的一定长度的直径,所述长度大约等于插入去芯部段的内部连接器结构的部分的长度。
4. 根据权利要求3所述的方法,其中:将绝缘层的部段去芯和减少内部导体的直径的动作使用所述同轴电缆端接工具同时进行。
5. 根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中:减少内部导体的直径的动作包括型锻内部导体。
6. 根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中:减少内部导体的直径的动作包括去除形成内部导体的材料的一部分。
7. 根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中:内部导体的直径减少至这样的程度:去芯部段与插入的内部连接器结构的阻抗大约匹配同轴电缆的其余部分的阻抗。
8. 一种配置用于端接同轴电缆的同轴电缆端接工具,所述同轴电缆包括:内部导体;环绕内部导体的绝缘层;环绕绝缘层的外部导体;以及环绕外部导体的护套,所述同轴电缆端接工具包括:
本体,所述本体包括:
用于去芯绝缘层的部段的装置;和
用于减少位于去芯部段中的内部导体的直径的装置。
9. 根据权利要求8所述的工具,其中:用于去芯绝缘层的部段的装置包括旋转切削刀片,所述旋转切削刀片配置成自动地切除绝缘层的一定长度,所述长度大约等于具体内部连接器的一部分的长度。
10. 根据权利要求8所述的工具,其中:用于减少内部导体的直径的装置包括旋转型锻模,所述旋转型锻模配置成旋转地型锻中心导体的一定长度,所述长度大约等于具体内部连接器的一部分的长度。
11. 根据权利要求8所述的工具,其中:用于减少内部导体的直径的装置包括配置成自动地去除形成内部导体的一部分材料的结构。
12. 根据权利要求8所述的工具,还包括从本体的后端向外延伸的驱动柄部,所述驱动柄部配置成被接收在钻头卡盘中。
13. 根据权利要求12所述的工具,还包括从本体的前端向外延伸的导销,所述销配置成插入到内部导体的中空部分内。
14. 根据权利要求13所述的工具,其中:用于减少内部导体的直径的装置还配置成将内部导体的中空部分的直径减少为大约等于销的直径。
15. 一种被端接的同轴电缆,包括:
配置成传播信号的内部导体;
环绕内部导体的绝缘层;
环绕绝缘层的外部导体;
环绕外部导体的护套;以及
同轴电缆的接线端部段,所述接线端部段包括:
同轴电缆的去芯部段,其中,已经去除绝缘层且已经减少内部导体的直径;
位于去芯部段内且环绕直径减少内部导体的连接器芯轴的至少一部分;以及
连接到芯轴的外部连接器结构。
16. 根据权利要求15所述的被端接的同轴电缆,其中:绝缘层包括螺旋形垫圈。
17. 根据权利要求15所述的被端接的同轴电缆,其中:绝缘层包括泡沫材料。
18. 根据权利要求15所述的被端接的同轴电缆,其中:芯轴和外部连接器结构是压缩式连接器的部分。
19. 根据权利要求15所述的被端接的同轴电缆,其中:内部导体包括中空内部导体。
20. 根据权利要求15所述的被端接的同轴电缆,其中:同轴电缆的接线端部段的阻抗大约等于同轴电缆的其余部分的阻抗。
