背景技术
导航装置(包括个人导航装置(PND)和车内电子装置)基于所述导航装置的位置向用户输出信息。这些导航装置通常利用全球定位系统(GPS)来确定位置,然后使用扬声器和/或显示器来输出地图信息、方向等。

发明内容

图1示出了使用有蓝牙能力的移动电话以导航装置访问远程服务器的系统。
系统100包括导航装置5,其被配置为通过移动电话1A-1B中可用的一个移动电话向远程因特网协议(IP)服务器15上传数据。软件8与软件18交换调谐通信,在至少每电话基础上(on at least aper-phone basis)调谐传输功率增益,接下来根据移动电话1A-1B中当前可用的一个移动电话来使用已调谐的传输功率增益量。此在至少每电话基础上的调谐允许导航装置5与远程服务器15经由广泛的多种移动电话和无线电信网络来通信,而它们进而使针对导航装置5的通信机会最大化。
为了理解这种调谐如何使导航装置5与服务器15通信的机会最大化,就要考虑如何根据所使用的是移动电话1A还是1B来有差异地处理从导航装置5到服务器15的通信。起初,根据使用的是移动电话1A和1B中的哪一个,该通信将被不同的通信电路系统(诸如音码器20和21)处理。音码器20和21可以有差异地影响功率增益,例如通过将功率增益改变不同的量。此外,分别与移动电话1A和1B关联的不同的无线电信网络26和27也可以具有不同的音码器22和23,其也可以有差异地影响信号。由于这些差异,在缺少在至少每电话基础上的调谐时,取决于音码器的哪个组合处理传输,接收机可能会接收到太弱或太强的信号。虽然对于服务器15和/或其带内信令(IBS)调制解调器19而言,检测到由太弱或太强的信号的恢复而导致的错误并且请求重传输是可能的,但这种重传输耗费时间并且仍可能会导致太弱或太强的信号。
相对比,系统100在至少每电话基础上调谐功率增益,这允许来自导航装置5的传输29A在无错误或少错误的情况下被IBS19接收和恢复,而无论导航装置5使用的是传输路径30A还是30B。换句话说,无论路径30A和30B之间有何差异,传输29B和29C都可以具有基本相似的功率增益。
此在至少在每电话基础上的调谐意味着,可以根据具体的可用电话来设置传输功率增益,而不是仅仅调谐到可用电话的特定构造或原型(particular make or model)。属于同一构造或原型的两个移动电话也可以有差异地影响信号强度,因为这两个移动电话内的部件可以具有不同的运行特性。例如,电子部件通常被设定(rate)为在一个多值范围内工作。据此,这些电子部件中的一些在该范围的高端运行,而其他的在该范围的低端运行,这可以导致属于同一原型的两个音码器在处理期间有差异地放大一个信号。例如,属于同一原型的两个电阻器可以表现出不同的电阻,而这些不同进而影响功率增益。出于此原因,软件8和18在至少每电话基础上而不是在每原型基础上调谐传输功率。

仍然参见图1,应理解系统100由此使针对导航装置5的上传机会最大化。换句话说,导航装置5不限于使用任何特定的指定电话与IP服务器15通信,而是当处于几乎任何支持蓝牙的移动电话的范围内时都可以访问服务器15。
除了前一段落指出的之外,对于导航装置5优选的是利用一个移动电话向IP服务器15上传,而不论可用移动电话是否支持经由其无线电信网络的分组数据连接(packet data connection)。例如,所示出的移动电话1A-1B不支持经由无线电信网络26和27的分组数据连接,但却可以被导航装置5用于IP网络访问,如下一段落中将描述的。

应理解,对服务器15的可靠访问,或就此而言对任何远程网络的可靠访问,可以使得能够进行针对导航装置的广泛的多种应用。在导航装置5上的作为导航系统一部分的应用可以实时地获取基于位置的信息。例如,导航装置5可以获取经由GPS确定的关于当前位置附近的交通事故的实时信息。导航装置5也可以下载更新到内部导航数据库,例如将所存储的地图更新到关于新路线的信息。
此外,使用此处描述的已调谐的传输,导航装置5上的任何其他类型的应用也可以设有远程存储的数据。这允许导航装置5的功能集(feature set)被扩展到与导航没有必然联系的其他应用。例如,导航装置5上的一个应用可以被用来获取股票报价或其他经由互联网可获得的信息。应理解,在导航装置5上运行的任何类型的应用也都有可能被用来获取对任何类型的网络的访问。

应理解,功率增益基于的是一个系统的信号输出与该系统的信号输入的比。当使用术语“传输功率增益”时,相关的系统是导航装置5(或其他被配置为向服务器上传数据的装置)。当使用术语“接收功率增益”时,相关的系统是服务器15。
可以使用用于调节增益的任何已知方法来对导航装置15调节发射功率增益。这可以包括调节导航装置15上的一个电路的要么输入级要么输出级中的放大器、可变电阻器或其他电路部件。

软件8还在表格38中将已插值的传输功率增益存储为与针对移动电话31的唯一的蓝牙客户端标识符相关联。表格38示出了在移动电话列和传输功率增益列中的条目(entries),以示出这种关联。此后,当传输数据时,根据哪个移动电话被用于该传输,使用来自表格38的传输功率增益量。

一旦已设置传输功率增益,服务器15上的软件18就可以持续地监测所接收的来自该导航装置的传输。可能的是,接收功率增益可以“漂移(drift)”或者随时间以其他方式变化,尽管导航装置5对于同一移动电话继续使用同一传输设置。这可以因许多原因而发生,诸如:导航装置5和该可用移动电话在网络之间漫游、简单地改变到塔的距离、进入或离开功率节省模式,等等。在任一情况下,软件18可以在任何时间触发导航装置5上的软件8以发起一个新的调谐处理。
软件18可以使用任何处理来确定何时需要一个新的调谐处理。在一个实施例中,软件18持续地监测来自该导航装置的传输的接收功率增益,并且如果此接收功率增益落在一个阈值范围之外则触发一个新的调谐处理的发起。在另一个实施例中,软件18随时间监测传输错误率,并且如果此传输错误率超过一个阈值则触发一个新的调谐处理的发起。由于传输错误可以与除了功率增益以外的其他因素有关,软件18可以进行一些小的纠错(troubleshooting),以排除不太可能由来自此传输错误率的功率增益导致的传输错误。
虽然在上述实施例中会话发起请求43是由服务器15发送的,但在其他实施例中导航装置5可以发送该会话发起请求并在该发送之前、之后或期间执行调谐。在这种实施例中,软件8可以不必在会话发起中导致延迟。
图3示出了图1和图2中所示的导航装置如何调谐传输功率增益。
在方框301中,该导航装置建立与一个移动电话的蓝牙连接,以与一个远程服务器通信。该蓝牙连接可以按照美国专利申请No.12/752,911“USING A BLUETOOTH CAPABLE MOBILE PHONE TO ACCESSA REMOTE NETWORK”中描述的来建立。
在方框302中,该导航装置将针对该移动电话的唯一标识符(以及可能地其他属性,诸如网络标识符)与一个将移动电话关联到已调谐的传输功率增益量的表格作比较。如果在菱形303中,该表格中存在针对该移动电话的条目,则在方框304A中,该导航装置根据针对该移动电话的已调谐的传输功率增益来设置蓝牙收发器。在方框305中,该导航装置发起一个与该远程服务器的会话,用于以所设置的传输功率增益上传数据。
如果在菱形303中该表格中不存在该条目,则在方框304B中,所述导航装置延迟与所述远程服务器的会话的发起。在方框306中,所述导航装置将已接收的数字比特序列调制成一个音频信号(audiosignal),其对于不同的比特值具有不同的频率音调,其中所述频率音调被选择以经过一个无线语音信道。在方框307中,所述导航装置使用不同的传输增益量来传输所述音频信号。
在方框308中,该导航装置收回一个对该传输的应答,该应答指示在远程服务器处的接收功率增益量。在方框309中,该导航装置通过分析该接收功率增益量来为该移动电话确定已调谐的传输功率增益。在方框310中,该导航装置在该表格中生成针对该移动电话的一个条目,以将该已调谐的传输功率增益关联到该移动装置。该过程然后返回到方框304A。
图4示出了图1和图2中所示的服务器如何调谐功率增益。
在方框401中,该服务器接收一个音频信号的多个传输。在方框402中,该服务器为这些传输中的每一个确定一个接收功率增益,并且向一个导航装置发送一个识别该接收功率增益的通信。
此后,在方框403中,该服务器接收一个具有已调谐的接收功率增益的传输。如果随后接收的传输具有一个阈值范围之外的接收功率增益,则在方框404中,该服务器可以用信号通知该导航装置执行一个新的调谐处理。该过程然后返回到方框401。
本领域技术人员应明了,在不脱离本发明的基本原理的前提下,可以对上述实施方案的细节做出许多改变。因此,本发明的范围仅应由下列权利要求确定。
上文讨论的大多数设备包括硬件和相关的软件。例如,典型的导航装置很可能包括一个或多个处理器以及在这些处理器上可执行以进行所描述的操作的软件。我们在普遍理解的意义上使用术语“软件”,以指代机器或处理器可用的程序(programs)或例程(routines)(子例程、对象、插件,等等)以及数据。如所公知的,计算机程序通常包括存储在机器可读或计算机可读的存储介质中的指令。本发明的一些实施方案可以包括存储在机器可读或计算机可读的存储介质——诸如数字存储器——中的可执行程序或指令。我们并不暗示在任何特定实施方案中要求常规意义上的“计算机”。例如,各种处理器,嵌入式的或其他类型的,可以被用在设备——诸如此处描述的部件——中。
用于存储软件的存储器也是公知的。在一些实施方案中,关联到给定处理器的存储器可以与该处理器被存储在同一物理装置中(“片上”存储器);例如,置于集成电路微处理器或类似物内的RAM或FLASH。在其他实施例中,该存储器包括一个独立装置,诸如外部盘存储器、存储阵列或便携式FLASH密钥卡(key fob)。在这种情况下,当该存储器和该数字处理器被操作性地连接在一起时,或者例如通过I/O端口、网络连接等彼此通信时,该存储器变得与该数字处理器“关联”,以使得该处理器可以读取存储在该存储器上的文件。所关联的存储器可以是设计为“只读”的(ROM),或者是借助于许可设置“只读”的,或者不是“只读”的。其他实施例包括但不限于WORM、EPROM、EEPROM、FLASH,等等。这些技术常常是以固态半导体器件的形式实现的。其他存储器可包括移动部件,诸如常规旋转盘驱动器。所有这种存储器都是“机器可读的”或“计算机可读的”,并且可以被用来存储用于实现此处描述的功能的可执行指令。
“软件产品”指的是这样的存储器装置,其中一系列可执行指令以机器可读的形式存储,从而,对该软件产品有适当访问的合适的机器或处理器可以执行所述指令,从而进行由所述指令实现的处理。软件产品有时被用来发布软件。任何类型的机器可读存储器,包括但不限于上文概述的那些,可以被用来制作软件产品。也就是说,也已知的是,软件可以经由电子传输(“下载”)来发布,在此情况下,在该传输的传输端或接收端或这两端将存在相应的软件产品。
在本发明的一个优选实施方案中描述和示出本发明的原理之后,显然,在不脱离这种原理的前提下,本发明在布置和细节方面可以被做出修改。我们要求保护落入下列权利要求的精神和范围内的所有修改和变体。

Claims (20)

1.一种用于调谐传输功率增益的方法,包括:
与一个远程服务器通信,所述通信经过在一个导航装置和一个移动电话之间的蓝牙连接以及与所述移动电话关联的无线电信网络的无线语音信道;
将一个所接收的数字比特序列调制成一个音频信号,所述音频信号对于不同的比特值具有不同的频率音调,其中所述频率音调被选择以经过所述无线语音信道而不受在所述无线电信网络中运行的音码器的阻碍;
传输所述音频信号,第一传输使用第一传输功率增益量,第二传输使用不同的第二传输功率增益量;
收回一个应答,所述应答指示了在远程服务器处针对所述第一传输和所述第二传输的接收功率增益量;以及
通过分析所述应答来确定第三传输功率增益量,并且使用所述第三传输功率增益量来使用所述移动电话向所述远程服务器传输数据。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,还包括:
发现针对所述移动电话的蓝牙客户端标识符;以及
在一个导航装置表格中生成一个条目,以将所发现的蓝牙客户端标识符关联到所述第三传输功率增益量。
3.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其中所述导航装置表格包括多个条目,每个条目将一个定制的传输功率增益量关联到一个支持蓝牙的移动电话。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法,还包括:
发现针对所述移动电话的蓝牙客户端标识符;
识别所述无线电信网络;以及
在导航装置表格中生成一个条目,以将所发现的蓝牙客户端标识符和所述无线电信网络的标识的组合关联到所述第三传输功率增益量。
5.根据权利要求4所述的方法,其中所述导航装置表格包括多个条目,每个条目将一个定制的传输功率增益量关联到支持蓝牙的移动电话和移动网络的一个组合。
6.根据权利要求1所述的方法,还包括:
接收一个通信,所述通信指示了在所述远程服务器处的接收功率增益在一个预定范围之外;以及
响应于接收所述通信,以不同的功率增益量发送多个已调制的传输,以识别用于所述移动电话的一个新的传输功率增益量。
7.一种用于调谐传输功率增益的方法,包括:
与一个远程服务器通信,所述通信经过在一个导航装置和一个移动电话之间的蓝牙连接以及所述移动电话的无线电信网络的无线语音信道;
向所述远程服务器发送多个调谐传输,其中所述调谐传输是使用如下频率音调调制的,所述频率音调被选择以经过所述无线语音信道而不受在所述无线电信网络中运行的音码器的阻碍,并且其中所述调谐传输是使用不同的传输功率增益量来传输的;
收回一个应答,所述应答指示了在远程服务器处的接收功率增益量,并且将每个接收功率增益量关联到相应的一个调谐传输;以及
通过分析所述接收功率增益量来确定一个已调谐的传输功率增益量,并且当使用所述移动电话向所述远程服务器上传数据时使用所述已调谐的传输功率增益量。
8.根据权利要求7所述的方法,还包括:
响应于向所述远程服务器传输的请求,识别一个当前可用的移动电话;
将针对所述当前可用的移动电话的唯一标识符与如下表格作比较,所述表格将移动电话关联到所述已调谐的传输功率增益量;
根据所述比较,设置所述导航装置上的蓝牙收发器;以及
在设置所述蓝牙收发器之后,通过所述当前可用的移动电话向所述远程服务器上传所述数据。
9.根据权利要求8所述的方法,其中所述请求是经由所述导航装置的用户接口来接收的。
10.根据权利要求7所述的方法,还包括:
接收来自所述远程服务器的会话发起请求;
在一个确认消息中设置一个比特,以导致所述会话的发起的延迟;以及
发送带有所设置的比特的所述确认消息。
11.根据权利要求10所述的方法,其中所述调谐传输是在如下时机发送的:在发送所述确认消息之后或随同发送所述确认消息一起,并且在已延迟的会话发起之前。
12.根据权利要求7所述的方法,还包括:每当被所述远程服务器请求时就发送另外的多个调谐传输,以及根据最近的一次调谐来改变传输设置。
13.根据权利要求7所述的方法,还包括:
确定所述移动电话的音码器或所述无线电信网络的音码器的运行模式;
在一个导航装置表格中生成一个条目,以将所述已调谐的传输功率增益量关联到所述移动电话;以及
在所生成的条目中,记录所确定的运行模式,以使得所述已调谐的传输功率增益量关联到所确定的运行模式。
14.根据权利要求13所述的方法,还包括:
在所述导航装置表格中生成另一个条目,以将所述移动电话关联到一个不同的已调谐的传输功率增益量;以及
在所生成的所述另一个条目中,记录一个不同的运行模式。
15.一种用于服务器调谐传输功率增益的方法,包括:
与一个远程导航装置通信,所述通信经过延伸到一个移动电话的无线语音信道以及在所述移动电话和所述导航装置之间延伸的蓝牙连接;
确定源自所述导航装置的多个所接收的音频信号的功率增益量;
传输一个通信,所述通信识别所述接收功率增益量并且将每个接收功率增益量关联到来自所述导航装置的一个传输;以及
接收来自所述导航装置的上传,其中所接收的上传的接收功率增益量是为了所述服务器上的带内信令解调而调谐的。
16.根据权利要求15所述的方法,还包括:
识别一个新接收的传输,其具有在接收功率增益的一个阈值范围之外的接收功率增益量;以及
响应于所述识别,使得所述导航装置以不同的功率增益量来传输所述多个音频信号。
17.根据权利要求15所述的方法,还包括:
请求与所述导航装置的会话;
分析来自所述导航装置的确认,以得到请求所述会话的延迟发起的一个比特设置;以及
将会话发起延迟一个预定时间段,所述预定时间段与所述功率增益量的确定关联。
18.一种用于使用移动电话以导航装置访问远程服务器的系统,包括:
一个导航装置,其被配置为建立与一个可用移动电话的蓝牙连接;
所述导航装置被配置为将用于所述可用移动电话的唯一标识符与如下表格作比较,所述表格将唯一标识符映射到传输功率增益量;
如果所述比较识别了一个条目,则所述导航装置被配置为,通过所述可用移动电话,以所识别的条目中指示的功率增益量向一个远程服务器上传数据;
如果所述比较未识别一个条目,则所述导航装置被配置为,以多个不同的传输功率增益量来传输一个音频信号,并且从所述服务器收回一个应答,所述应答指示了针对所述传输的接收功率增益量;以及
所述导航装置用于根据所述应答来确定一个传输功率增益量,并且在所述表格中生成一个条目,以将所确定的传输功率增益量关联到针对所述可用移动电话的所述唯一标识符。
19.根据权利要求18所述的系统,还包括:
所述服务器被配置为,根据对所述音频信号传输的分析来确定所述接收功率增益量;以及
所述服务器被配置为,生成并发送一个待被所述导航装置使用的通信,以优化与所述可用移动电话的随后传输。
20.根据权利要求18所述的系统,还包括:
所述导航装置根据所确定的传输功率增益量来调谐传输功率设置;以及
所述服务器还被配置为,触发所述导航装置,以发送新的多个音频传输,用于重新调谐所述导航装置上的发送功率设置。
