本申请为2006年09月12日提交的名称为“以多模式无线传输/接收单元切换无线通信系统间无线接入技术的方法及系统”的中国发明专利申请200580007899.9的分案申请。
技术领域
本发明有关无线通信系统。更特别是，本发明有关当以多模式无线传输/接收单元(WTRU)实行不同无线接入技术(RAT)时，切换彼此相连的无线通信系统间无线接入技术的方法及系统。
背景技术
通用移动电信系统(UMTS)及无线局域网络(WLAN)技术被广泛用于目前无线通信系统中。因为通用移动电信系统及无线局域网络的涵盖区域通常被重叠，所以通用移动电信系统及无线局域网络的互联被发展。互联无线局域网络(I-WLAN)为具有对通用移动电信系统核心网络的无线局域网络，所以通用移动电信系统提供的服务可经由互联无线局域网络来转传。
目前，互联无线局域网络的网络选择请求无线传输/接收单元使用其服务组识别号(SSIDs)来扫描可用无线局域网络系统。服务组识别号扫描可被动或主动达成。被动扫描时，无线传输/接收单元观察来自各无线局域网络的信息广播，并依据信号强度来决定其可用性。主动扫描时，无线传输/接收单元传送包含特定无线局域网络服务组识别号的探测请求，并等待来自该无线局域网络可用性的确认。
然而，这些技术并不提供可接入通用移动电信系统为基础服务的任何无线局域网络(服务组识别号)指示。若干解决方案被设计包含于无线局域网络上广播信道上广播家用公众陆地移动网络(PLMN)识别。然而，因为无线局域网络服务组识别号并非唯一，所以该技术易被模仿(破坏性无线局域网络操作者可广播相同服务组识别号及公众陆地移动网络识别号)。

发明内容
本发明提供了一种在无线通信中使用的用于切换无线技术的方法，该方法包括：经由第一无线网络从无线传输/接收单元(WTRU)接收第一消息，其中所述第一无线网络基于第一无线技术，所述第一消息指示对与基于第二无线技术的无线网络相关的信息的请求，以及所述第二无线技术与所述第一无线技术不相同；以及响应于所述第一消息经由所述第一无线网络发送第二消息到所述WTRU，其中所述第二消息包括基于所述第二无线技术的一个或多个无线网络的标识符。
本发明为当以多模式无线传输/接收单元实行不同无线存取技术时，切换彼此相连的无线通信系统间无线存取技术的方法及系统。多个无线通信系统系被配置于重叠涵盖区域，其中各无线通信系统系实行不同无线存取技术，且被彼此相连使被一无线通信系统提供的服务可经由其它无线通信系统来提供。各无线通信系统系传送各无线通信系统涵盖区域中的互联无线通信系统存在的指示。无线传输/接收单元系接收有关互联无线通信系统的指示及信息。无线传输/接收单元接着使用该被接收信息启动对互联无线通信系统的交递，借此无线传输/接收单元继续接收相同于无线传输/接收单元经由互联无线通信系统接收来自目前被连接无线通信系统的服务。本发明有助于降低多模式无线传输/接收单元选择及认证互联无线通信系统所需时间。

具体实施方式
此后，“无线传输/接收单元”名词包含但不限于用户设备，移动台，固定或移动用户单元，呼叫器，或可操作于无线环境中的任何其它类型组件。此后，当被称为“基地台”及“接入点”名词者包含但不限于B节点，地址控制器，或无线环境中的任何其它接介装置。
图1为依据本发明的无线通信系统100方块图。系统100包含实行不同无线接入技术的至少两个不同类型无线通信网路110，120。例如图1所示，一类无线网络为较佳操作于第三代合作伙伴项目(3GPP)标准下的通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络(见通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110)，而另一类无线网络为较佳操作于IEEE802.11标准下的无线局域网络120。为了说明本发明，仅一通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110被显示。然而，应注意本领域技术人员熟知通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络通常包含多个小区。
为了方便，本发明参考通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络及无线局域网络来说明。然而，应注意熟练技术人士了解本发明可被应用于任何类型无线通信系统，且另外可具有两种以上不同类型无线通信系统。
无线通信系统110，120涵盖区域彼此重叠。如在此使用的通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络-无线局域网络例子，无线局域网络120涵盖区域通常位于通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110较大涵盖区域内。无线局域网络120被连接至通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110，使被提供于通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110内的服务可经由无线局域网络120被转传至多模式无线传输/接收单元102。因此，如上述，无线局域网络120也被称为互联无线局域网络。被放置于重叠区域中的多模式无线传输/接收单元102可同时对两类无线通信系统，且可经由另一网络接收一网络所提供的服务。
依据本发明，通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110传送存在任何互联无线局域网络的指示，或替代性被放置于通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110内的互联无线局域网络的服务组识别号列表至无线传输/接收单元102。该指示或服务组识号列表可如预期地被传送。例如，其可经由广播控制信道(BCCH)广播或经由专用控制信道(DCCH)传送。其中系统100被配置于广播控制信道上传送该指示或列表，当连接至通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110或建立无线承载时，无线传输/接收单元可能但不需提供其无线局域网络容量(也就是无论其是否可操作于无线局域网络)。
依据第一实施例，仅通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110内的任何互联无线局域网络存在的指示被传送。如上述，该指示可如预期般被传送、但较佳被传送于该小区110的广播控制信道上或专用控制信道上。无线传输/接收单元102接收该指示，且若系统间切换的预定准则(也就是将无线传输/接收单元102从通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110切换至无线局域网络120的预定准则)被满足，则无线传输/接收单元102从通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110请求服务组识别号列表。当然，应了解预定准则可为任何类型准则，且评估是否实际执行系统间切换可借由无线传输/接收单元102或切换可发生自的网络的任何网络组件，其于此例中为通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络来评估。一旦无线传输/接收单元102接收服务组识别号列表，则服务组识别号被被动或主动使用来扫描，连结及认证互联无线局域网络120内的适当接入点。此方案确保无线传输/接收单元102可接入提供对通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110及其第三代合作伙伴项目为基础服务的连接。系统间切换准则被满足且具有互联无线局域网络120内的适当接入点来切换者，无线传输/接收单元102被切换至互联无线局域网络120且开始操作于其间。
可替代是，无线传输/接收单元102可于评估系统间切换准则之前请求服务组识别号列表，以确认执行该评估之前是否具有适用接入点。
依据第二实施例，系统100如上述作操作，但除了第一传送通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110内存在任何互联无线局域网络的指示外，此实施例中，通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络小区110仅传送服务组识别号列表。此可提供服务组识别号列表不太高的加强效能。是否实行该第一或第二实施例属操作者喜好。
图2为依据本发明的切换无线接入技术的处理200流程图。多个无线通信系统被配置重叠涵盖区域。各无线通信系统实行不同无线接入技术，且被配置使被一无线通信系统提供的服务可经由其它无线通信系统来提供。
各无线通信系统传送互联无线通信系统存在的指示，选择性与实行不同无线接入技术于各无线通信系统涵盖区域内的替代无线通信系统的信息(包含识别号，频率等)(步骤202)。该指示及/或信息可被广播至无线传输/接收单元，或可经由专用信道被传送给无线传输/接收单元。无线传输/接收单元可经由目前被连接无线通信系统(也就是无线传输/接收单元目前被连接的无线通信系统)来接收该指示及/或信息(步骤204)。
可替代是，该指示及/或信息可被传送响应该信息的请求信息或来自该无线传输/接收单元的功能报告。响应时，目前被连接的无线通信系统传送互联无线通信系统可用性指示及/或有关无线通信系统的指示至无线传输/接收单元。该例中，该指示及/或信息可经由专用控制信道被传送至无线传输/接收单元。
接收该指示及/或信息之后，决定是否启动对互联无线通信系统的切换(步骤206)。如上述，此决定可于网络或无线传输/接收单元处被达成，且可以如预期任何预定准则为基础。该切换可借由用户的请求来启动或以服务请求为基础被独立启动。无线传输/接收单元可于其显示屏幕上显示互联无线通信系统的可用性或提供警告相同用户的警报。若决定将无线传输/接收单元切换至互联无线通信系统且仅若该指示被传送，则无线传输/接收单元请求有关互联无线通信系统的信息并从该目前被连接无线通信系统接收它(步骤208)。若该信息被与该指示一起传送或无任何指示被自动传送，则步骤208被跳过。无线传输/接收单元接着使用该被接收信息启动切换程序(步骤210)。
如在此被使用的通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络-无线局域网络例的情况中，该信息可为互联无线局域网络的服务组识别号，且选择性可进一步包含对应公众陆地移动网络识别号及各服务组识别号的对应坐标(也就是位置)。无线传输/接收单元可于接收互联无线局域网络的服务组识别号之后启动主动或被动扫描被识别无线局域网络。该无线局域网络的扫描可被限制为该被接收服务组识别号识别的无线局域网络。
与特定无线局域网络接入点的连结可以信道品质量测为基础。若来自所有无线局域网络的信道品质量测位于预定阈值下，则起始通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络连接被维持。若可接受无线局域网络接入点被找到，则通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络可被通知小区改变于小区改变的专用信道上。连接安全可借由如有线等效私密性(WEP)信息的信息来启用。无线传输/接收单元继续扫描无线局域网络连结及取消连结的共同服务组识别号接入点。若可接受接入点未被找到，则无线传输/接收单元可扫描被己知服务组识别号识别的替代无线局域网络，或回复至通用移动电信系统陆地无线接入网络连接。此例中，无线接入技术小区间改变指示可被传送。切换无线接入技术的选择可以预定阈值内的品质量测为基础自动或被用户输入手动控制。无线接入技术小区改变之后，无线传输/接收单元继续接收相同于无线传输/接收单元经由替代无线通信系统接收来自目前被连接无线通信系统的服务。

Claims (4)
