Abstract

移动电话技术,使得移动台操作者在移动中、或者在没有其他通信方式可用时,能够与其他移动操作者或基于陆地的操作者进行通信,为操作者提供方便,并且提高他们的生产率。该技术使得移动操作者能够根据全球定位系统(GPS)向移动电话交换局(MTSO)以及基站的操作者提供地理位置数据。GPS是基于卫星的导航系统,它们发射实时信号,可以接收该信号,并计算出地理位置信息。这种信号的接收机已经配置到移动电话内部,连续向基站发射信号,基站作为翻译器将GPS信号翻译成纬度数据和经度数据。该信息使得基站操作者能够跟踪移动电话的位置,因此能够跟踪电话所位于的车辆的位置。
车辆导航系统中也已经设置了GPS信号接收机,因此,车辆操作者利用存储在只读存储器中的地物信息以及利用视频显示屏幕能够获得地图显示中车辆的位置。现有技术还为向基站提供位置信息的车辆跟踪系统提供这样的车辆跟踪系统,它利用基于陆地的地理定位系统,或者利用使用蜂窝电话系统的网孔位置标识信号的定位置系统。
使用GPS的另一现有技术系统是Rockwell International公司生产的数据登录系统(Data Logger System)。该数据登录系统是一种便携式定位和数据存储系统,它高度集成地将卫星定位技术与几个健全的地理处理工具结合起来,允许用户记录精确的地理参照位置,并提供与位置有关的事件、评论和发现的文字描述。
该系统由一个便携式远端台和一个基站组成。便携式远端台是便携式数据登录单元,用于获取现场数据。基站用于对便携式远端台所获取的现场数据进行处理。基站用于产生报告和图形表示,以便手对便携式远端台所限定的每个物体进行定位。
跟踪技术的益处是,向基站操作者(例如汽车货运公司、出租车队值班员和营业主任)提供对其车辆地理位置的跟踪能力。然而,未向这样的基站操作者提供具有移动台操作者的照亮的地理位置的复杂的地物显示。另外,在移动操作者正在向基站发射电话信号时,现有技术未向基站操作者和移动台操作者提供音频通信能力。另外,在紧急情况或丢失时,快速且容易地获得预定基站操作者的能力在目前是不可能的。
现有技术提供几个向基站操作者提供地理信息的系统。该现有技术包括美国专利No.5,043,736,它针对于一种便携式定位单元,即,可用于蜂窝电话又可用于向基站提供经度和纬度的便携式全球定位系统。该系统向基站提供GPS信号,但是当不利用拨号音提供GPS信号时却不允许操作者与基站通信。美国专利No.5,155,689提供一种基于蜂窝通信的定位装置,其中地理信息是从各个蜂窝发射机台发射的信号中产生的;即,该移动台目前所调谐到的网孔提供一个由基站译码的标识信号,并向基站操作者提供车辆位置的估计。美国专利No.5,218,367提供一种车辆跟踪系统,它利用一个经蜂窝电话网络通信的监视器,所述监视器与传感器相连,能够处理并向应该驱动该传感器的基站发射一个警告信号。车辆的跟踪是以从监视器接收呼叫的网孔站所产生的信号为基础的。美国专利No.5,208,756提供一种车辆定位和导航系统,它是以基于陆地的导航网络为基础的。

本发明解决现有技术不能解决的问题:接收GPS信号的蜂窝电话能够向基站发射GPS信号而同时发射音频信号;通过拨预先指定电话而得到的基站接收该GPS信号并将它们翻译成地理信息而同时允许该基站能够与移动蜂窝电话的操作者进行音频通信。
本发明提供一种新颖的、向移动通信台的操作者提供位置信息的地理位置信息装置,包括一个移动通信台和一个通信基站。该移动通信台包括一个用于从全球定位系统(GPS)接收信号的装置,一个用于处理所述全球定位信号的装置,以及一个蜂窝电话装置,用于从该移动台操作者发送处理过的全球定位系统信号和语音通信信号,并且用于接收地理位置信息。该通信基站包括一个用于从移动台接收信号的蜂窝电话,一个用于处理所述信号并提取语音信息和全球定位信息的装置,一个利用所述语音信息并允许基站操作者与移动台操作者通信的音频通信装置,一个用于将全球定位信息处理成地理位置信息的译码装置,以及一个用于向基站操作者传送地理位置信息的视频显示装置,其中基站的蜂窝电话信号的处理允许基站操作者与移动台操作者进行音频通信,并同时分析所述视频显示。
本发明也提供一种提供地理位置信息的移动电话,包括一个用于接收全球定位系统信号的装置,一个用于产生定时信号的装置,一个用于从全球定位信号和定时信号计算位置信息信号的装置,一个存储地图显示的只读存储器,其中所述计算装置从与所述位置信息信号相应的只读存储器中检索地图显示并且对视频数据信号进行编码,以及一个用于显示所述视频数据信号的视频显示装置。
图1提供一个位置报告电话的框图。该电话被构造为接收GPS信号,GPS电路由微计算机控制,GPS信号经蜂窝电子电路发射到基站。该图还提供一个语音合成器,它向基站操作者产生一个预编程的消息。这个移动台中的微计算机被构造为将GPS信号译码为地理位置信息,并利用存储在其系统存储器中的地图数据,使得在GPS信号与合成消息一起发射时、或者在移动操作者正与基站操作者进行音频联系时,移动操作者可以显示其地理位置信息。

本发明考虑了在价廉及方便的状况下,移动操作者广泛应用蜂窝电话及GPS定位能力的情况。与移动单元相反,用位于中央基站的GPS解码装置、可视显示装置及大功率计算装置使得对于移动系统的购买方来说,硬件造价低。此外,本发明使移动操作者与基站操作者处于语音通信状态,而GPS信息与音频信号依次传输到基站,对传输后的信号进行处理,使音频信号与GPS信号分离,基站的GPS信号按纬度和经度解码,音频信号提供给基站操作者。随后利用纬度和经度信息选择对应于特定纬度和经度的详细图。这些图可以存贮于只读存储器中,并且可显示在可视显示装置上,只读存储器可以是一个芯片,也可以是一个密质盘(CD—ROM)。本发明还可以使移动操作者的位置在图上可以看到,使基站操作者能够向移动单元操作者提供指示或信息,同时移动单元的地理位置显示在基站显示屏上。
本发明提供的新型设备,用于将地理位置信息提供给移动通信单元的操作者,它包括一个移动通信单元和一个基站通信单元。对本发明来说,该移动通信单元包括一个用于接收全球定位系统信号的装置,一个用于处理所述全球定位系统(GPS)信号的装置,以及一个用于传输所述处理后的GPS信号以及来自所述操作者的语音通信信号并接收地理位置信息的蜂窝电话装置。对本发明来说,基站通信单元包括一个蜂窝电话装置,用于接收从所述移动单元传输的信号;还包括一个用于处理所述信号并提取语音和全球定位信息的装置;一个语音通信装置,其利用所述语音信息使基站的操作者与所述移动单元的操作者通信;一个解码装置,用于将所述全球定位信息处理为地理位置信息;一个可视显示装置,用于将所述地理位置信息传给操作者,其中,基站的所述蜂窝电话信号的所述处理使所述基站操作者处于与所述移动单元的操作者进行语音通信状态,同时分析所述可视显示装置。
市场上的大多数蜂窝系统都是模拟信号系统。然而,可以预见将来的蜂窝系统将是数字信号系统。在本发明的一个优选实施例中,蜂窝电话装置是数字式的。数字通信是利用数字信号的通信系统,这种数字信号是时变或空间信号,在发送和接收信息时,可表示为数字化采样序列或组。
除了地面蜂窝电话使用数字信号的趋势外,卫星通信的发展趋势也是数字技术。频分多频—调频—频分多址(FDM—FM—FDMA)一直是用在商业卫星系统中的最常用的模拟技术,因为它被现场验证,使之易于以低造价提供高质量卫星链路。随地面站的增加,FDM—FM—FDMA系统的转发容量急剧下降。此外,FDM—FM—FDMA对业务改变的反应不灵活。另外,诸如正交相移键控时分多址(QPSK—TDMA)的数字卫星系统能适应大量的地面站,仅损失少量的转发容量。此外,对业务变化可以迅速做出反应。与数字卫星通信相关的技术还有按需分配和数字语音内插以进一步提高远程通信的效率。不同于模拟卫星系统,数字卫星系统能利用纠错码以处理功率带宽。最后,用于低数据率应用的码分多址的采用使用户用价格极低(3000美元)的微地面站(0.5毫米天线)获得优质服务。当集成数字网络完全实现后,数字卫星系统的灵活性使其前景更好。
本发明还提供了带有附加部件的移动通信单元。在优选实施例中,移动通信单元还包括一个只读存储器,其包含一个目的地专用电话号码,所述目的地为所述基站。可以设想,该目的地专用号码可以是美国汽车协会(AAA)的办工地点、道路信息操作者,应急号码,如911或一组这样的专用号码。本发明还给移动单元操作者提供了启动呼叫的能力,这通过按压一个按钮来实现,其中,基站用来接收预编程呼叫,基站操作者能马上准确确定呼叫车辆的位置,并向呼叫者提供信息和指示。
在优选实施例中,本发明的移动通信单元还包括一个对视频数据信号解码的装置,及一个显示视频图象的装置;基站通信单元还包括一个将视频数据编码成蜂窝电话信号的装置,其中,由所述基站解码的地理位置信息经可视图象提供给所述移动单元操作者,而所述移动单元操作者与所述基站操作者通信。
在优选实施例中,本发明的基站视频显示装置用地图提供地理位置信息。这些地图或制图显示能包括两维和三维地图,基站按照显示在可视显示装置上的地图比例,在可视显示装置上显示移动通信单元的位置。图上位置的显示使基站操作者将移动单元操作者的位置固定于制图显示上,并向移动操作者提供信息或指示,即使移动单元在移动中,显示屏的位置也在移动的情况下,也能实现这些。
可以预料,可视显示装置将包括目前的阴极射线管(CRT)、平面屏显示系统和高清晰度电视(HDTV)和其它可视显示装置,这些对本领域普通技术人员都是公知的。
本发明还提供了可利用众所周知的分画面技术在基站的显示装置上显示的多种不同类型的地图。这种地图包括但不限于联邦地质调查局地形图、航空和航海图、交通图和墨卡脱投影图。而且,本发明为使用ROM或CD—ROM技术存储地图的详细登记表的基站提供了起动基于解码的经纬度信号的地图的能力。基站将有一个附加显示方式,其中地图和当前的经纬度位置被显示在屏幕上,但不显示空间位置(locus)。本发明还使基站除可接收蜂窝电话呼叫之外,也能接收特殊的移动无线信号(SMR)、无线通信信号、数字信号和基于陆地的电话通信,使其成为全业务电信单元,如果需要的话,还能将移动电话操作者的呼叫转移到警察、消防或一个其想接到的地方。接收这种信号和配置这种基站的装置由现有技术来提供。
本发明还提供了一个解码装置,用于将GPS信号解码成经、纬度信号,即地理位置数据。微处理器将被编程利用这些数据选择以经纬度形式存储在ROM或CD—ROM的地图显示。在所述基站中也将安装调制解调器以驱动CD—ROM。微处理器还将控制视频显示装置上显示的制图信息。
这些地图将给基站的操作者提供接收信号周围的详细信息。本发明还使基站配置成能够更新有关住宅街道、主要道路、高速公路和超速干道的信息。本发明还为基站提供了覆盖联邦地理调查地形图的配置,以为基站的操作者提供更多浏览或接触基画面的信息。
本发明还提供了一个紧急路边GPS呼叫箱系统,它为便携手持单元或移动远端单元提供了一个专用目的的拨号器,它如上所述被预编程以呼叫一个基站,使该基站计算出使用移动单位的人的地理坐标,并为他们提供信息和基础设施。这种呼叫箱将配备蜂窝发射机和接收机,具有预编程电话号码的ROM和启动到基站的呼叫的装置。

这里提供了采用本发明的数据登录系统的三个例子。第一个例子是便携远端台。第二个例子是车载远端台。该系统是一个便携远端系统。第三个例子是蜂窝远端台,它是基于便携远端系统结构的一个改进,包括数字全球定位系统(DGPS)和蜂窝电话容量。
例1
该便携远端台采用数据登录系统。图10示出了便携远端台的方框图。该例子的各部件包括GPS接收机和具有专门化应用软件的掌上型个人计算机(PC)。该软件是从数据登录软件得出的。
掌上型PC通过RS—232接口从GPS接收机中提取当前的位置、卫星信息和其它数据。通过掌上型PC的用户接口,操作者可用位置“标记”产生或“标出”特定的位置。每个位置用从GPS接收机中提取的数据“标记”,并标注识别信息。每个标注的位置,最多可存储80个字符的文本。PC机可处理数百个这些位置标记。其数目是由计算机的内存限制的。
在轻型机中,掌上型PC和GPS天线是装在一起的。GPS天线是磁性安装到该组件上的,以便于移动以提供更好的卫星可视性。掌上型数据登录便携远端台可有三种工作方式:(1)连续登录方式,提供最少30分钟的连续登录时间;(2)简略标注方式,涉及对掌上型PC功能键重新编程,以加速注记活动;以及(3)离散登录方式,为用户提供登录数百个限定可观察物(如,房屋、消防栓或电话亭)的位置的离散的固定点的能力,
图11示出了基站的框图。该配置是基于ISPS接收机和各种其它的容易得到的低成本部件。
每次数据事务登录后,便携远端系统返回基站。然后,因基站从便携远端提取有关数据,提取后,基站处理这些数据,进行适当的精度校准,并产生与注记内容有关的地理点的数据库。数据库中的每个位置的精度在3∽5米之间。用户可用该数据产生具有精确位置、时间和注记内容的报告。
基站通过在地图环境中增加、删除或编辑所选的地理数据来支持地理数据的结构和管理。地图环境提供了一个多层显示,可从远端同时看见远端位置的不同的制图表示。例如,第一层可显示主干道,第二层显示辅助道路,第三层显示地理数据库。
基站结构可通过蜂窝电话链路在便携远端和基站之间进行双向通信。DGPS连接数据从基站发向便携远端,而位置信息从便携远端发到基站。
例2
蜂窝移动台是基于数据登录系统的本发明的第二个例子。图12示出了蜂窝远端台的框图。蜂窝远端与便携远端台有相同的结构,但前者有一个附加的单元,蜂窝电路链路。
蜂窝电话链路为蜂窝远端提供了增强的容量,通过该链路可与区域中的基站进行通信。建立通信链路后,蜂窝远端从基站接收DGPS校正消息,计算差分位置,并将当前的差分校正位置发回基站。蜂窝远端台的工作方式与便携远端台相同。
如图13所示,基站可与蜂窝远端通信,或通过蜂窝电话链路与车载远端通信。用基站的GPS接收机产生差分GPS校正,并发送给便携远端,而不是调频副载波接收机。工作区中的一副合适的地图在基站中被综合。这里需要GPS接收机使基站产生DGPS校正,并通过蜂窝链路发送到便携远端。
实施例3
车载式远端站是基于数据登录系统的本发明的第三个例子。它具有另一个不用于便携式远端站的远端能力,即能够接受调频副载波链路中的差分校正。车载式远端台结构基于如图14所示的便携式远端台结构。
车载式远端站由一个GPS接收机、一个带磁性固定件的插塞式天线和一个装有专用应用软件的膝上型个人电脑组成。车载式远端站除了与便携式远端站相同的功能外还提供以下的附加特点:(1)一张指示当前位置的自动地图和一个便携式远端站预先产生的数据库(即,新道路、房屋、河流等),(2)使用FM副载波信号实现差分GPS,具体地说是差分精度校正。
车载站包括一个调频副载波站,该调频副载波站由一台用来产生DGPS校正的分离的个人计算机所构成。在基地站,调制解调器将数字信号转换成一对音频信号,再通过电话线送至当地的调频广播站。调频广播再通过调频副载频将校正信号发射至工作地区。
车载式远端构造中包括一个调频副载波接收器和一个调制解调器。使用调频广播站送出的调频副载波,车载式远端站可以接收到由该调频广播站送出的模拟调频校正信号。调制解调器把上述校正信号转换成数字信息,再进行格式变换后供GPS使用。GPS在产生位置结果信息时要使用上面的校正信息。

虽然为了清楚和便于理解起见,上面的发明是借助于附图和实例来描述的,但是对于本技术领域内的熟练人员来说,在本发明的示教下很显然还可以在不背离权利要求的精神实质或范围的前提下对本发明作某些变化和改进。
Claims (9)
1.一种为移动通信单元的操作者提供地理位置信息的装置,包括:
一个移动通信单元,它包括:
接收全球定位系统信号的装置;
对上述全球定位系统信号进行处理的装置;及
一个蜂窝电话装置,用来发射上述的还处理的全球定位系统信号以及上述操作者的话音通信信号,并且还用来接收地理位置信息;以及
一个基站通信单元,它包括:
用于接收上述的移动单元发出的信号的蜂窝电话装置;
对上述信号进行处理并且取出话音和全球定位信息的装置;
音频通信装置,该装置使用了上述话音信息,并且允许上述基地单元的操作者与上述移动单元的操作者进行通信;
解码装置,用于将上述的全球定位信息处理成地理位置信息;以及
视频显示装置,用于把上述的地理位置信息呈现给操作人员,其中,在基站单元中进行的对上述蜂窝电话信号的处理能使基站的操作者在分析上述的视频显示装置的同时和移动站的操作者进行音频通信。
2.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述的蜂窝电话装置是数字式的。
3.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述的视频显示装置利用地图来提供地理位置信息。
4.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述的移动通信单元还包括一个存有目的地专用的电话号码的只读存贮器,上述目的地是上述的基站单元。
5.如权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述的移动通信单元还包括,对视频数据进行译码的装置和用于显示视频图象的装置,上述的基站通信单元还包括把视频数据编码成蜂窝电话信号的装置,其中被上述基单元所译码的上述地理位置信息在移动单元的操作者与下述基站单元的操作者进行通信时提供给上述移动单元的操作者。
6.一种蜂窝电话,这种蜂窝电话被用来向一个基地单元提供地理位置系统信号并且同时允许上述基站单元的操作者与上述蜂窝电话的操作者进行话音通信,包括:
用于通过蜂窝电话系统接收和发送信号的装置;
用于接收全球定位系统(GPS)信号的装置;
用于以上述全球定位系统信号进行处理的装置;以及
用于把上述的全球定位系统信号和上述蜂窝电话的操作者产生的音频信号变成可被一个基站单元处理成一个音频信号的蜂窝电话信号和可被解码成地理位置信息的GPS信号的装置。
7.一种提供地理位置信息的移动蜂窝电话,包括:
通过蜂窝电话系统接收和发送信号的装置,
用来接收全球定位系统信号的装置,
用来产生一个定时信号的装置,
从上述的全球定位信号和定时信号计算出位置信号的装置,
一个存贮着地图显示信息的只读存贮器,其中,上述的计算装置从上述的只读存贮器查询出一个对应于上述位置信息的地图显示信息,并且编码成视频数据信号,以及
一个用于显示出上述的视频数据信号的视频显示装置。
8.一种向移动通信单元的操作者提供地理位置信息的装置,包括:
一个移动通信单元,包括:
一个全球定位系统接收机,
一个对上述的全球定位系统信号进行处理的信号处理器,
一个蜂窝电话发射机,和
一个蜂窝电话接收机,其中上述的发射器发送出上述的经处理的全球定位系统信号和来自上述的移动单元操作者的话音通信信号,以及
一个基站通信单元,包括:
用于接收自上述移动单元发出的信号的蜂窝电话接收器,
用于对上述信号进行处理并且抽取出话音和全球定位信息的信号处理器,
一个允许上述基地单元的操作者与上述移动单元的操作者进行通信的蜂窝发射机,
一个用于把上述的全球定位信息处理成地理位置信息的解码运算装置,以及
一个用于把上述的地球位置信息传送至操作者的视觉显示器;其中上述基站单元中进行的对上述蜂窝电话信号的处理允许上述基地站的操作者能在分析上述的视频显示的同时与上述移动单元的操作者进行话音通信。
9.一种蜂窝电话,这种蜂窝电话被用来向一个基站单元提供一个地理位置系统信号,并同时允许上述基站单元的操作者与上述蜂窝电话的操作者进行话音通信,上述的蜂窝电话包括:
蜂窝电话发射机和接收机,
全球定位系统(GPS)接收机,用于对上述的全球定位系统信号进行处理的信号处理器,以及
用于把上述的全球定位系统信号和上述的蜂窝电话操作者产生的音频信号变成能被一个基站单元处理成音频信号的蜂窝电话信号和能被解码成地理位置信息的GPS信号的装置。
